Pros: The scenery is fantastic! Cons: No large cities nearby, so you need to stock up on supplies
Glen Canyon National Recreation Area is located in southeastern Utah, overlapping the Arizona border. Created by damming the Colorado River, Lake Powell is the centerpiece of this large national parkland; a park that covers 1,250,000 acres, or 1,963 ...
Pros: Scenery, Hiking, Beautiful Town Cons: Expensive, Difficult to Navigate
Before reserving my 18 foot powerboat at the Wahweap Marina near Page AZ in March 2002, I read over many reviews. Not many spoke about renting an 18ft powerboat. Most of them reviewed the houseboating. I hope this helps.
I reserved my 18ft boat in...
Pros: awesome scenery, so much to do Cons: blazing heat in the summer!
Right in the middle of miles and miles of desolate desert, sagebrush and blazing heat, the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area with the amazing Lake Powell, first appears like a mirage. Can it be real, this huge body of water, out here where water...
Pros: easy, scenic and fun Cons: not cheap; bathtub ring on canyon walls
Houseboating on Lake Powell (unmercifully long review)
Let’s get two things clear right away: I think the Glen Canyon Dam was an egregious mistake and an environmental disaster; and I loved poking boats around in the resulting lake. For more...
Pros: Secluded, Excellent vacation spot for anyone who likes to get away from it all Cons: Crowded lately, high expenses
Tour Boat!!! The infamous cry of houseboaters on Lake Powell. The call for boaters to secure their lounge chairs, shoes, and beverages. But it's all part of the adventure. One of the best vacations a person could ever take is a week on a houseboat on...
Pros: Beautiful, huge, lots of beaches, lots of Marinas Cons: Crowded around the Marinas, gas prices($2.00 this summer)
At least that’s what you'll hear from people who know nothing about this lake. I have lots of friends with boats, most surprise me by staying within' 15 miles of the Marina! Of course its going to be crowded, there are over two hundred miles of Lake to...
Pros: SO much to see and do Cons: Really need a boat.
Lake Powell, just hearing the name makes me feel good. This is by far my most favorite place in the world. I started going to Lake Powell before I was old enough to remember. It is a vacationer paradise.
Pros: Outstanding Beauty Cons: More and More people every year
I have spent at least two weeks at Lake Powell every summer since I was a baby. My family bought a timeshare in a houseboat when shortly after I was born, and we have loved our time there ever since. My most vivid memory of Lake Powell is on the large...
Pros: beautiful canyon, warm water Cons: expensive, must reserve boat early
if you are looking for a different kind of vacation full of adventure and beautiful sights, i highly recommend that you rent a house boat on lake powell. i have done it twice, both times were absolutely memorable. if you do decide to take a boat out on...
Glen Canyon as beautiful as the grand canyon ! by flagbabygirl ,Feb 06 '07
Pros: Beauty of unsurpassed imagination! Cons: Small town, Pack extras of everything
We recently went to Glen canyon for the first time this last weekend. I have lived in Arizona My entire life and never knew such a place existed! Fun and super relaxing. Stay in small motels along the way and ask Ted at the Cliff dwellers to show you the best hiking trial to the water fall! Amazing hikes less that 1 1/2 miles of the trail. Easy to get to, and Beautiful! motels are open all year and affordable and clean, If you love to see beautiful red rocks, rock formations, and love to hike, there is no where else. Glen Canyon is as beautiful as the Grand canyon and Sedona without the tourist hustle!
