Pros: easy to get to, riverbed nearby Cons: sites too close together
We went to Hendy Woods in early October and the camp sites were all pretty much full. I was disappointed that the sites were so close together. Our site had neighbors on 3 adjacent sides and one across the way in peeking distance. This is pretty typical for most northern CA campsites that have all the luxuries (showers & flush toilets), so not surprisingly we had to deal with lots of families, noise, kid, etc. The upside is that a short walk away is a dried up riverbed that is filled with rocks, which are fun to play with, throw, examine and best of all smash. Most rocks are soft and will crumble easily when smashed together. This was surprisingly entertaining. We didn't hike too much because we were with one 7 year-old, so we pretty much just played in the river bed with the rocks.
