Pros: Layer comps, text on a path, photomerge, nested layers Cons: PRICE
Last month I ordered Adobe CS Premium edition from Creation Engine. Creation Engine (www.creationengine.com) specializes in discounted academic software. Photoshop is sold in three ways: As a stand-alone program. Part of Creative Suite Standard ...
Pros: Depth of features! Completeness! Swiss-army functionality! It's all here. Cons: Lack of 3D modeling and rendering capability.
While the cost for this software may turn many buyers off to it, one must simply think about the programming time that the developers put into creating this masterpiece. Also, the productivity and creative output will, in the end, justify the price tag. ...
Pros: RAW 48bit support, better histograms, not much else... Cons: Bloated, loads slower, nazi-esque product activation scheme, expensive, not many new features.
I have been a Photoshop user since Photoshop 2.5, and I think it is one of the best programs I use. But recently they have been just adding small features and crap to try to get people to spend more money on their product. I'll take a second to touch on ...
Pros: User-friendly, easy upgrade, wide variety of tools, fun to use. Cons: Doesn't work well with older, slower, or virus-ridden computers.
In my experience, Adobe PhotoShop CS has been a pleasure to use. I use it for photo-manipulations and editing photography, and have also used it to create covers and page designs for literary magazines and books of poetry. It was a very easy upgrade ...

Adobe Photoshop CS, Profitable and fun. by mkp920 ,Apr 20 '05
Pros: Easy to switch from Photoshop 7.
Easy to learn interface.
Cons: Plug-ins are too costly.
I use this program everyday commercially and I enjoy working on my own pictures in my spare time. It hasn't taken me long to fully understand Adobe Photoshop CS's power and compatibility.
If you're new(extensive help menu) to graphic design or digital photography(especially now that CS supports RAW camera data) this is the program to start with. Adobe site also provides unique tutorials submitted by everyday users.
Besides interface improvements, notable changes to Photoshop CS is the capability to export to Macromedia Flash(SWF), Full 16 bit support(Photoshop 7 had restrictions), Filter gallery(which has sped up production for me quite a bit, allows you to view every filter before applying it),histogram palette(which allows you to perform your image adjustments while keeping an eye on the real time histogram) and photoshop now supports DHTML and XHTML.
I bought this product because I fell in love with Photoshop 7, and to my learning pleasure it was a very natural transition between the two programs. Nothing bad at all to say about this program, always had positive experiences with it.
Pros: Great versatility, awesome features, great product Cons: The cost is high
Whether you are into graphic design or simple photo editing, Photoshop gives you the best tools to do what your project requires. The vanishing point option is one of the new additions to Photoshop CS. The use of filters and layers is a great help. The layers allow you to change copies of the image, and still keep the original for comparative purposes.
simply the best out there by itriedifailed ,Feb 08 '05
Pros: more reliability,
faster speed,
more stable,
new features Cons: expensive,
Difficult for beginners,
would have liked to see more added features.
If anything to me I would say photoshop CS has been MORE stable then its predecessor. Faster loading times on large image files and complex filters, Never had it crash(on a 2.8ghz pent. 4 512 ram), and the ability to handle larger files has increased. They've added features which I personally have been begging for(ability to snap text to path). Overall worth the little extra you pay to have the best. To me comparing jasc to photoshop is like sony walkman to an ipod. You get greater quality and more reliability on genuine results.
Pros: Great promises Cons: causes the pc to freeze, wait for the fixes
What a disappointment!!
Adobe put on some serious hype about this upgrade, i say' don't believe the hype'.
the software is unstable to a point that it shut itself down without a warning!! i'm working on a dual 2GHz Dell machine with 1.5gigs of ram. i run PS7 without problems and a lot of pleasure, i think it's the greatest image manipulation SW ever. the cs version is stalling the machine and is plainly frustrating, i'm un-installing it to get my PS 7 back.
