Ahead Software Nero 6.0 for PC (160006)

Pros: Simple, friendly graphical interface;fast, and professional-looking results. Many options.

Pros: We were able to eventually make copies of family movies on dvd to dvd-r.
Cons: Unwilling to pay $1,29/minute , we could not make labels with nero.

A computer expert,marc@gadgetconsulting.com,who only charges $30/hr to come to your home! recommended this software to me to copy family 16mm film transfered to a dvd to dvd-r. This software,at $90 to buy the disc, is not for computer amateurs like me or even some computer "pros",like the software engineer across the street. We were able the copy the dvd to dvd-r with much difficulty but we were both unable to make the included software booklet,insert,and disc cover labels. I would not recommend this software to anyone.

Pros: The controls are at your fingertips.
Cons: Poor digital photo quality

Perhaps I did not push the right buttons, but the photo quality is very poor. The slideshow for a dvd leaves a lot to be desired. Photos and audio are not on the same track.
I went back to Nero 5.5 and am looking for slideshow software with digital quality with sound for a dvd.

Pros: Can burn and read anything. Can recode/compress video for use in mobile devices.
Cons: Setup can be difficult for newbies.

The people who have trouble with this product either have the OEM suite (which doesn't allow you do download upgrade from the Ahead web site) or don't have the latest updates. This suite rocks, and Ahead does a good job of updating the software to fix problems with new burners as they come on the market.
Burning DVDs is not as simple as writing data to a floppy, be aware that you may need to update your drivers, your ASPI settings, and maybe even your BIOS. None of this is Nero's fault. Once you get your system up to speed, Nero works flawlessly.

Pros: It does everything.
Cons: It burns DVDs, occasionally.

I wanted to burn but got burned. Nero came with my I/O Magic 16x DVD DL, (my OS is Win XP) and when I use it, 8 times out of 10 I'll have to restart my computer. Occasionally the restarter won't even work.

Pros: Nice Box
Cons: Hard to Navigate the Program Features not available unless upgrade is purchased

The main reason I purchased this product was to create a Video CD to share with relatives that are living out of country, and to be able to watch it on TV. It took me quite some time to figure out which part of the program would do this.
While I was creating this Video CD I was presented with Enhancement options (snow crystal raining down, Rain and so on)only to find out that I needed to purchase an upgrade(50.00dollars) to make this work. There where a few enhancement options that worked.
When I got to the point of Burning this to a disk I received a warning that:
#1 the music I had selected to play in the Background would not be available (it is not Supported) Ok I turn on the stereo While watching this ;-)
#2 A pop up came up and warned me that the show might not look the way it looked in the preview on the computer.

Finally I was finished and put the Video CD in my DVD player
1 The Pictures were Black and White (yes the original are color)
2 The special effects did not work.

Pros: Fairly good DVD/CD recorder
Cons: Extremely poor technical support - poor DVD backup support and flaky InCD program hangs XP.

The following is a copy of a support resolution to Ahead Nero's InCD program which has a tendency to lockup, disappear, and lose formatting information whenever a user swaps DVDs. The "solution" - to rename "GEARAspiWDM.sys" will disable system access to the drive whn you reboot the XP system (like a lot of MS features, "GEARAspiWDM.sys" is used by Windows XP). This "support" was provided after much handstanding and supplying system information and InCD failure message information.
