Ipod rules!!
by blank_point ,Mar 17 '07
Pros: 20GB memory, decent battery life Cons: Black and white screen
Ok, its the original MP3 player and beat everybody else in the market because of it superior sound quality and reliability.
I bought it over 2 years back and has been one of my most dependable gadgets. with a memory capacity of 20GB (5000 songs) i can save my important files and pics by the hundreds. It therefore serves as a heavy duty usb pen drive ( although it means that you have to carry your usb cable around)
The sound quality and touch wheel are already world famous and nothing more needs to said!
if u luv music go ahead and buy it!

Life span is terrible
by brentmason ,Mar 12 '07
Pros: great for music i guess. Cons: too slow for photos, too expensive, breaks easily
I bought this for photography uses only. It was 500 dollars new and just turned out to be a waste of money. I rarely use it and keep it very nice. Recently it started showing some dead warning sign. I have to get a new one now and didnt even use the old one.

20 GB Apple iPod
by jster811 ,Jul 02 '06
Pros: Holds up to 5,000 songs Cons: N/A
I have a 20 GB Apple ipod digital music player, which hold a maximum of 5,000 4 minute songs. The ipod has the ability to play the following formats: AAC,MP3,WAV,AIFF. It has a good long lasting battery life for up to 5-6 hours. Songs are very clear. The click wheel is a nice navigation feature for selected a song to play.
While listening to a song on the go you can play games that come standard on the iPod like: Brick,Music Quiz,Parachute,Solitaire. With Itunes putting songs on your iPod is easy as 1-2-3. Portability is great, its nice and sleek.

Apple iPod forth generation
by kaicheesecake ,Jun 07 '06
Pros: sound, very light, tiny Cons: would like longer battery life
The Apple iPod forth generation is very similar as the third generation. The weight of the forth generation is around 6oz, it is very convenience to bring it out. Unlike the third generation, the battery of forth generation can hold four hours longer than the third generation. But I still think it is not long enough for me. And the sound quality is very good; I can hear the song clearly. I think it is better than the third generation.
Summarize all the advantages; it is valuable to get one.

by rtsmaster ,Mar 25 '05
Pros: 12 hr battery, small, excellent sound, very portable Cons: None it's great
The Apple iPod is great. With up to 5,000 songs how can you go wrong. Plus there are games when you are bored like: Solitare, Brick (which is Javanoid), and Parachute. It has excellent quality. It's light enough to carry around and is small enough to fit in your pocket. There is a software discs with iTunes and an iPod Updater. iTunes is used to put the songs from CDs or the iTunes Music Store on to your iPod. To put songs onto it is easy you plug it in to your computer and it downloads automatically. at Apple.com you can get it shipped and engraved for free. I use mine all the time, but I would recommend a case to protect it.

ipod broken after 15 months
by oakleyd2 ,Nov 05 '06
Pros: nice toy while it lasted Cons: bad customer service, no repair options
I bought an Apple ipod 20GB U2 Edition about 15 months ago. I started to have problems where the ipod would freeze and would not be able to be turned off. I would have to wait until the charge ran out, then recharge it before i could get it to respond. Now it won't play any songs. So, i called the ipod service and they told me that it would cost $250 to repair it. Which is about the cost of a new apple 30gb ipod video. They also said i should have gotten an extended warranty, which by the way was never offered to me. So, after $300 for the ipod, and probably another $500 buying songs on itunes i have a very nice paper weight. My advice for anyone thinking about buying an ipod...stay away. The customer service is far from helpful...which by the way they tried to charge me $29.95 for tech support when i called to ask about the problems. And the only service option they have costs more than a new ipod.

Good, but not that good.
by caljammer ,Mar 14 '07
Pros: Stores a lot of songs. Cons: Very glitchy, poor battery life.
I got my 20GB Ipod as a gift a few years back. At first, it was the best thing ever, of course it was the first one to the market so that made it seem awesome. But after about 6 months, I started to notice several glitches. Sometimes my Ipod would just turn itself on, sometimes it wouldn't play a whole song before going to the next, and the battery life isn't that great, I have to charge it all the time. Plus, if you use it to run, it gets really glitchy since it is hard drive based. Now, I use a Creative Zen Nano to take on runs, it has flash memory, so there are no problems.

Fantastic apple product
by crrome ,Oct 12 '05
Pros: Portable, great quality listening and fabulous to look at! Cons: Supplied headphones are not very good.
Bought this as I used to travel by train to work. Sounds quality is good but greatly improved by changing the headphones. It is easy to use and the custom playlists allow for ultimate flexibility in listening choices.

...and even space for music too!
by skyye_b ,Dec 22 '05
Pros: lots of storage space, beautiful design, intuitive operation, pretty sturdy, nice sound. Cons: battery issues-required to send unit back to apple for replacements. Surfaces easily marred.
20gigs of storage -love it... I practically carry my home & work drives around with me everywhere. My use for this device is more for the practical storage than for listening pleasure - but the audio quality is impressive too. i find the earphones to be awkward & keep popping out but maybe thats just a quirk of my ears.
I'm real happy to be able to carry ALL my audio books (including the Holy Bible - which is a particularly large volume) along with my entire music collection (including the complete works of Bach- in one tiny package - a feat I never thought would be possible.
I also find the Notes Feature very useful, although my notes are rarely as short as the application allows.
Its a little awkward to carry around - I loved the polished finish on it, which lasted about five minutes out of the box. It even managed to pick up fine scratches from the velvet pouch I made for it.
It's a good idea to get a portable battery pack with it, although this makes it rather clunky.

We are on our 5th ipod now...
by m_e_doyle ,Nov 16 '05
Pros: Holds lots of songs, user friendly Cons: Too fragile!!
I bought my husband one of these ipods for Xmas last year. We are now on our 5th one!! Every single one has stopped working for one reason or another. One was dropped on the carpet, two just died for no apparent reason, one would never work with iTunes.
I feel like I live in the Apple store. We are constantly having to drive an hour to the nearest store to have them replaced. Thank goodness for the 1 year warranty! Unfortunately that is up soon.
I also have an ipod mini which has not given me any problems. (Knock on wood).

Piece of Junk- terrible service
by soverst ,Mar 23 '05
Pros: large capacity. Cons: tech support is terrible and rude. expensive accessories.
It worked for roughly 3 weeks before freezing up. I followed all the instructions (didnt even take it outside over 95 degrees) and it just stopped. I tried rebooting, etc, and nothing happened. The only thing it does now is scroll through the songs in the window. Now I am on the phone with support and after sitting on hold for 30 minutes, I am apparently talking to the wrong guy. All I want is a physical address to send this junk to, but I keep getting forwarded to support. Everyone at this point has been rude and apparently too busy to answer the phone. For this much money, this thing should work perfectly and support shouldnt be impolite. Take your money somewhere else. I will. To top it off, I was just told that under no circumstances would my money be refunded even though it is still under warranty.

The IPOD is not what you think , its much less
by vmx7 ,Mar 01 '05
Pros: Its small and fits nicely in your pocket Cons: battery life / cant download files from it / sound quality not great/
If you think the IPOD is like other mp3 players you are wrong.
The IPOD does not allow you to transfer music OUT of it. So take all your cds , take all your mp3 files you have gathered on your computer , download music from ITUNES and put it into your IPOD and wait for the day when your hard drive goes bad....or you buy a new computer.....or you want to share your music on another computer. Then you find out that you can not.
There are a ton of other mp3 players on the market that dont limit your usage like the IPOD.
The IPOD has a very short battery life.
The IPOD is not the best sounding mp3 player.
The IPOD scratches easily....too easily.
The IPODs graphic equalizer is terrible.
The IPOD only works with ITUNES , so you cant use napster , music match ect.
There are other players out there that surpass the IPOD by far , and are less expensive and allow you to drag and drop files as you wish .

The Best Mp3 player out there
by crazygood ,Jan 20 '05
Pros: Very light at 5.3 Ounces
User friendly
Good Sound quality
Apple's new Click wheel Cons: Very Fragile
Hard Drive
Well, Apple has designed one of the bes Mp3 Players out there. The thing is that it has a Hard drive that spins very very fast. It is VERY fragile, DON"T EVEN THINK ABOUT DROPPING IT.
The hard drive is done if you drop it. CD is defenitely the best quality, but i like AAC and Apple Lossless.
Here's some tips:
To Reset it, hold the Menu and Middle select button together for about 6 seconds.
don't even think about dropping it.
you can Crank AAC files to 320 kbps, to make it sound better.
for once Apple got to feel like Microsoft. I'm sticking with my CD player, but the iPod is good for People that wanna hold thousands of songs with good sound quality. Note:you can always put Mp3 Files on a CD. The back of it is very Scratchable.
You can alway get a Mac Mini, for 500$ at Apple.com
Website: http://www.apple.com/macmini/
Always here for you : )
