Pros: Can mix some cake mixes and makes a mean milk shake. Cons: Not very powerful and has short battery life.
I am sure that you all have had occasion when you have been too lazy to get up and assemble your mixer to make a milkshake or have hand beaten your eggs for a cake. I know I have. My mixer is huge and hard to clean also. I have had this Black & ...

Good for small jobs around the kitchen.
by leskataus ,Mar 19 '07
Pros: Small, lightweight, can be hung up to save on counter space. Cons: Not very powerful, needs frequent re-charging, and can't be used while charging.
I have one of these mixers and while I don't think it's awful, I can't say I feel enthusiastic about it either. It's good for small jobs like mixing powdered drinks, baby formula, and pudding mixes but I would never use it for cake mixes or cookie dough. The main thing that bothers me is that it has to be re-charged frequently and it can't be used while it is charging. As for my recommendation, I would say get one if you will only use it for light mixing jobs. Otherwise, get something that's more heavy duty.

don't waste your money
by tere1977 ,Apr 05 '05
Pros: looks nice Cons:
battery life
I thought than being a Black & Decker product was enough, but there is no battery life, you whisk and egg and need to recharge again. And you need to wait because you can not use it whilst is charging.

B & D ruined a good product
by rlkennedy75 ,Apr 29 '06
Pros: The Gizmo GM200 has a good selection of implements as did the former model. Cons: It is not convenient to store or use.
The Gizmo GM200 is definitely a step down from the former model 171695-00. You must plug it in to charge rather than just replace it in the holder. The holder is irregular in shape and will not fit neatly on a counter top. The Gizmo does not seem to have as much power and charge life as the former model. Don't waste your money.

The little Mixer that could!
by analytical619 ,Dec 28 '04
Pros: Cheap...Cordless...Beats making protein shakes by hand Cons: Power and battery life
Ok so here's the deal. It's almost New years and it's time to diet. I'm going back on the protein shake plan. I was tired of shaking my shakes by hand. I also was tired of messing with the blender.
On a recent trip to target, I saw this cordless Gizmo. It looked exactly what I was looking for..It came with 3 attachments (Whisk, Mixer, and a Drink Mixer). Although it's cordless, you will need to keep it plugged in the wall (as it drains pretty quickly.
My only complaints are:
1- I wish it was a bit stronger. It gets the job done...I wish it had more power
2-Battery life...I know it's cordless, which is cool but I wish it lasted a bit longer....I can make about 3-4 Shakes before I have to recharge the mixer

The Handiest Item in my Kitchen
by justmemc ,Nov 22 '06
Pros: Takes up little space. Lightweight and very easy to manipulate. Easy to switch whippers. Cons: Short on power for dense batters or potatoes but still worth having.
I LOVE this gadget....I got is last year, mounted it on the wall near my work area. It doesn't take much space, but how wonderful it is. I can beat egg whites, whip cream for quick desserts, do up hot chocolates, etc. or give a quick mix to anything on the stove including gravies, without taking out or moving my heavy duty mixers. When I want to set it down, I can set it on the counter so that it drips into the sink, or can quickly insert it in soapy water & rinse to clean. True it cannot take the place of a heavy duty mixer, but I would not use it for that purpose.
As for battery life, I have never had a problem with it. It is close enough to an electric outlet, so that I periodically plus in the recharger wire that came with it.
All in all, a great time saving gadget. I am purchasing them for each of my children's households.

Just Ok
by eyecandy007 ,Mar 06 '07
Pros: Yes it mixes well and has some great attachements Cons: The downfall of this item is the battery life its way too short
I got this as a housewarming gift from one of my family memebers. I used it to whip up some muffins for the following morning. Instead of 1 batch I decided to make some extra for the neighbors. I know this is cordless and cordless dont stay charged forever but the battery ran out pretty quickly. Thankfully I had a spare mixer that I bought at Walmart for 10 bucks! This cordless wonder stays charged forever

Gizmo review
by fivefoot8 ,Nov 25 '06
Pros: Convenient, just powerful enough for small jobs Cons: I haven't found one yet!!
This is one of my "must have" kitchen appliances. It's incredibly convenient for those short mixes that a fork just won't due and you really don't want to drag out the mixer. I keep mine right over my work space and use it several times a week. My daughter has just gotten her own apartment and I'm going to get one for her too. I also love the cordless feature.

Don't leave it plugged in
by sheilaflorida ,Mar 19 '06
Pros: Lightweight, small and handy Cons: Should not be left plugged in
Bought this on sale, it seemed a better, easier alternative to grabbing my small corded mixer. Have only had it a couple weeks and so far it is better.
The battery in mine is a Ni-Cad so it should NOT be left plugged in. I've learned they work best when run completely down and then completely recharged. Otherwise, the battery will have a shorter life. I would rather have one with a newer NiMH (Nickel-Metal Hydride) battery because they can be left plugged in and so are always charged and ready.
It's been great with thin liquids but I tried it today with pancake batter and it seemed to have a hard time. It is handier and lighter to use tho and I do like it.
When I need to replace this one, I will look for one with a NiMH battery instead, if it's close in price.

Forget it
by vanicely ,May 11 '06
Pros: Whisk with the beaters Cons: Apparently ill-designed
This looked kind of nifty and I thought I'd give it a try until I bought a better one.
It has a powerful sounding motor, but I only had it for a month, using it to make two cakes, when it gave out on me while making a third.
The engine still sounded very powerful, but the beaters which were properly seated came loose and started clattering together. I shut it off, reseated them and the same thing happened. Now a have a useless powerful sounding, non-working mixer.
Pay a few bucks more for a better mixer, or better yet, shop at yard sales and get a mixer when they made them to last a little.

Waste of $, Waste of Time! Pointless Item
by shakiki2_dt3000 ,Oct 29 '08
Pros: Small, Rechargeable & Can Be Hung on Wall, Has Attachments Cons: EVERYTHING! Flimsy, Weak Motor, Waste of $
My cousin purchased the Gizmo about a year or so ago and I decided to give it a whirl one day. The motor is VERY flimsy, the speed doesn't go very high, the motor makes a noise, you can't use the mixer while being plugged in & the way the attachments are set in (just pushed into the mixer) makes it seem as though they'll break free while beating some eggs! The only useful attachment is the whisk as I can use it MANUALLY to do what the Gizmo is SUPPOSED to do. Now I'm back to using the wooden spoon to make cakes, etc. since the Gizmo is incompetent to do its' job properly. Poor product, use your $ to just buy a regular hand mixer!

The best mixing tool ever!
by melissa42781 ,Jul 05 '06
Pros: EVERYTHING!!!!!!!! Cons: NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!
I bought this for myself for Christmas 05'. I love it! I use it to mix juice and kool-aid in pitchers for my children (it makes sugar disolve and mix in quik). I use for beating eggs for breakfast, making quiche, making smoothies, making milkshakes, mixing cake batter and it's wonderful for making those Jello No-Bake Cheesecakes. This is a must have, easy to assemble, charges quickly. This is the best thing Black & Decker has ever made. It was well worth $25 I paid for it.

Wonderful cordless mixer
by hmfic ,Dec 16 '05
Pros: Handy, powerful and cordless. Cons: I haven't found one.
This is the second B&D cordless mixer I own.
Purchased about 6 months ago. It has 2 speeds, low and high. It is more powerful and the battery lasts long enough to make whipping cream into butter. Note: You must charge it fully before you use it and leave it plugged in when not in use as it will not work while plugged in to the charger.
It comes with three attachments; whisk, beater and drink mixer (shakes and such) and the head swivels into a straight line position.
Excellent for any sauce or gravy requiring constant stirring or beating egg whites to stiff peaks.
I use it almost daily and find it to be quite the handy gadget for those small jobs.

Terrible
by mgglen ,Nov 24 '05
Pros: None Cons: Lack if information
We just needed a quick cheap mixer on Thanksgiving. Thought we could get by with the Gizmo. Were we wrong. You can't use it while it is charging, but only find that out by getting it home and trying it out. The manual doesn't even tell you that it won't mix while charging. It also doesn't give you any indication of how long it takes to recharge or when it is fully charged. In a word Terrible!
