Pros: Multitask print and scan. Cons: LCD not backlit.
So far I have had the Multi-function for a few days and I am impressed. I have been able to print, scan and copy like a pro and I have used it for printing photos and documents, scanning photos and documents and printing envelopes. I was able to print ...
Pros: Works well when it works Cons: Hopeless customer service when it does not
We liked the product while it worked. But when the cartridge began jamming, the fun began. First you try to get through to their "service centre". That is difficult. Then they send you to the local service centre if you want it fixed. The centre moved ...
Pros: cheap Cons: poor quality. failed twice during first year. a friend's unit was defective from the start
The printhead on my MP 730 failed mid-way during the first year I owned the machine. The ink clogged, apparently, and the printhead could not be cleaned, but only replaced. Canon directed me to an authorized repair facility that replaced the printhead ...
Pros: Decent price of the unit itself, does all things reasonably well. Size is OK too. Cons: Uses too much ink, small platen glass, cost of ownership high (due to ink usage).
I've had this printer for about a year and a half now. I purchased it with my computer and got a discount at the time from Dell. I paid $199 for this Canon and have been generally pleased with it. It does a good job being an all in one machine. ...
Pros: Separate ink tanks, quality print, edge to edge printing Cons: Non LCD, teething print and paper problems, no integrated approach to printing
I bought the MP730 after reviewing the comments from epinions and a lot of hands on touch and feel. (Updated May 06) Had the printer returned after having it serviced. Canon agent is Compucal in Manhattan, very professional and helpful. Started ...
Pros: Excellent printing. Seperate ink cartridges. Easy installation. Cons: Scanning is awful. Refer to review section.
This printer should have, and could have been by far the perfect solution. But alas, it falls way short when it comes to scanning documents via the platen glass or the automatic document feeder. When scanning an 8-1/2 x 11" from the platen glass, the ...
Pros: Good quality prints, easy to use fax, copy, scan, adf Cons: A little noisy in feeding paper.
I recently purchased the Canon MultiPASS MP730 for home office use. I couldn't be more pleased with it. There are many reasons that I chose this model over the competition. Separate ink tanks I really, really dislike the combined ink tanks tha ...
Pros: Quiet, fast printing. Looks good. Built in card readers. Multiple color cartridges. Good photo software. Cons: Pricey. Weird scanning software. Cumbersome menu, not backlit. Ink access is tight.
We run a small business from home and wanted to combine our scanner and printer and add multi-page scanning and fax capabilities without giving up all the surface space. So last April, I bought an HP OfficeJet d135. It did a nice job - you can check out ...
Pros: Very reliable. Cons: Does not hold very much paper. Occasionaly paper jams.
Overall it's a good printer. Very reliable. Had epson printers and they truly suck. This printer has been very reliable and for two years, this printer has not broken down.
But, the most annoying part of this printer is that it does not hold much paper. I have to refill it several times a day. And, if you put too much paper into the holder, the paper gets stuck.
Also, the printer isn't very quiet, contrary to other reviews.
Surge protection for the phone line and power "A must" by cecil59 ,Sep 29 '06
Pros: Prints graphics, photos, text, copies, scans and a camera card reader. Self cleans also. Cons: Personally I can't find anything not to like.
I had been running my new Canon MP730 for about a week, when a thunderstorms, close lightning strike took out my printer also. I don't think it was static electricity, though it might have been. I believe that it was a electrical spike through the phone line.
Canon was very good about fixing it under warranty and everything seemed to work fine until I tried to send a fax. So they replaced all the circuit boards and it has been working great for the past 2 years.
I did install a top of the line surge protection device for the phone lines and 120V Power source and it has been fine ever since, and we have had some nasty thunderstorms in those past months. But I also take extra precautions when a bad thunderstorm is in progress; Such as disconnecting the phone and power lines to my system.
I have worked to long and hard on my system,(not to mention money spent) to get it as fine tuned as it is. This might seem a little excessive but it doesn't even come close to how I would feel winding up with a fried system.
Pros: Nice quality Cons: If you live get thunderstorms where you live, think twice about this one.
Just a short note to let you know that while this is generally a pretty good printer/scanner/copier and fax machine, it has a flaw: If lightning strikes nearby, it can generate enough static electricity in the air to damage the internal USB card which results in a printer that will no longer communicate with the PC thus eliminating 90% of its usefulness. I have found at least 1 other instance of this so it wasn't just me.
Fine for Your Kid's School Work Canon MultiPASS MP 730 Printer, Scanner, Copier, Fax by miss45459 ,Feb 17 '06
Pros: Fairly fast printing, Vibrant color - you'll be surprised! Cons: The quality of the photo that is print could be better. The automatic feed poor.
As you can see from my title this little machine does it all. It's really nice to have access to a color printer. It sure makes those Excel spreadsheets among other things shine. As I stated in the cons many times you will notice small streaks of ink on your printed copy. In all fairness I haven't noticed this recently. Perhaps it has something to do with the quality of paper at times?
I must list another huge con here do NOT get caught out in the rain holding a document you've printed with this copier. It will run like Flo Jo. It's not often I get caught in the rain but if I accidentally get a drop of water on a document it's nice when you can blot the drop up without having your words disappear. I'd say this is fine for a home office or your child's school work but if you really want something to be proud of buy a higher quality machine.
Pros: Digital camera card reader worked great. Legal size scanning and copying was an asset. Cons: Way to much intervention required in the fax function.
Thank goodness Canon has excellent tech support.
I bought this product for the legal paper size functions.
The only feature I had positive results with was the built in camera card reader.
Not user freindly with the fax function. Unable to print anything other that 8.5 X 11 received faxes without intervention. Several different driver settings (profiles) required to obtain desired print quality. If you forgot to change the "profile" you were disappointed again and again.
Complicated menu functions required for intervention of routine office needs. Run from this product unless you are literate with technology and intervention and so is everyone in your office that may need to use it.
I did stay with Canon after returning this product and am in a Canon MP750 today. No fax function and separate paper trays for letter/legal size paper.
