Nikon Coolpix S10
by dorasopinion ,Jun 19 '07
Pros: compact size with high zoom
Cons: long shutter delay causes loss of the shot
Due to kids that run as soon as they see the camera come out,I wanted a high zoom. I also wanted a compact camera and was frustrated my choices seemed to come down to sleek and a small zoom or the larger zoom with a much bulkier camera.

Nice little digital camera for a beginner
by flipnotica ,Apr 12 '06
Pros: Easy to use for a beginner. Uses 4 AA batteries. Excellent pictures.
Cons: USB 1.1 instead of USB 2.0. Slow uploading into computer. No power adaptor.
This was my first digital camera. I purchased the camera 5/2005 in a local Austin, Texas retail outlet. I bought it because I found it easy to use and packed full of features.
If you do a Google search on digital camera reviews you will find that this camera really scored some really high ratings. Just do a Google search on "A95 Specifications" to find that information.

No mistake this time!
by freddy39 ,Dec 09 '04
Pros: Superb image quality. Low cost. Great to hold. Results make me look like a pro.
Cons: The flimsy door on flash compartment.
I loved my kodak 4530 five megapixel camera and thought it was the ultimate. I then tried the 7440 kodak which was fast, very sharp, and great to use but had some "muddy" elements in some of the photos. I brought it back and lost $45. in re-stocking fee.
Not being able to afford another mistake, on my fixed income, I read many reviews of Canon A95, and knowing it had a great reputation,
I put my money down for the A95 and WHAT A BARGAIN. This camera is so good that I am still stunned by the superb image quality even after three weeks. I can't believe my luck that I got such a quality instrument for less than $300. To me, the image is everything, but I am still impressed with the build quality and beauty of the design. I will explore some of the manual possibilities this spring. Very little adobe photoshop editing is necessary because the image is so natural and sharp. The editing just puts the icing on a very beautiful "cake". Taking more than 300 photos I only had ONE with purple fringing. I edited it out easily with Adobe Photo shop

Quality Camera
by lwoodley ,Dec 15 '05
Pros: Movable viewing screen, Easy to use, Picture quality
Cons: Slightly long delay after taking pictures (make be fixable - not sure!)
I purchased a Canon PowerShot A95 Digital Camera about six months ago after losing my A80. I've been very pleased with the quality of pictures it takes and am thrilled that Canon has continued to make models with the twisting screen so that you can easily take pictures at awkward angles. It is easy enough to use that I can let picture-takers of multiple ages use it with good results. All in all, it is a great camera and I highly recommend it.

Canon A95 good investment
by yahimabeliever ,Jan 16 '06
Pros: LOVE the flip out screen
Cons: Battery life short, but you will have that with any digital camera.
The camera has pleased me so far. Mine got stolen on a trip, but I liked it so much I immediately invested in a new one (despite the chunk out of the pocketbook).

Disappointed, surprised there are not more negs.
by eagerfc ,Jul 06 '05
Pros: Flip screen, memory
Cons: Poor picture quality, Battery life 8 AA in 20 pictures?
Only had camera for 5 days. Picture quality was low, digital looking, purple fringing, weak zoom, and massive battery appetite. Bought a Panasonic LZ-2. Could not be happier.

Love it so far
by davequ ,Feb 10 '05
Pros: Excellent quality color pictures, tons of options, flexibility, easy to use; affordable
Cons: respectable learning curve for advanced features; sometimes hard to see LCD settings in daylight.
After using an outdated, low rez Olympus for years, and after what I think was quite a bit of research, I finally sprung for the the A95.

From a high-level, so far, great. So easy to use in auto mode, yet so many manual options. Have only taken 2 photo safaris with it up till now, but I am not in any way disappointed. Got a great deal from Beach Camera, no problems, and despite my unfamiliarity with the features (so many to learn I literally can spend hours reading about all the capabilities) so excellent results.

Also love the flip-out LCD screen. Actually very necessary when using the lens accessory "barrel."

One of the best things I like is the flexibility. I bought with it a full accessory package of telephoto, wide angle, and uv/polar/indoor filters. This almost feels like a fully equipped 35mm. From closeups, city / street scenes to long wide/telephoto landscapes from a mountaintop, this camera has everything I need so far.

Good battery life also.

Excellent digicam!
by marklarson ,Dec 06 '04
Pros: The 35mm film camera has been equaled.
Cons: None.
I was in the market to replace my old Fuji digital camera and did quite a bit of research (here, on imaging-resource.com, etc) and settled on this new Canon model. I am extremely pleased with it. To my eye, the output is identical to my 35mm film Nikon, and that is what is most important to me. It has tremendous flexibility, good battery life and the screen and viewfinder is very bright and information-filled. This is a very good camera for any amount of money.

Great, but had a repetitive problem
by erinchemist ,Mar 17 '06
Pros: long battery life, great picture quality
Cons: hard to take spontaneous pictures, camera wouldn't power on, heavy
I think the A95 is a superb camera. It has great battery life and good software with it. The picture quality is great. There is a little lag time when taking pictures. I can't take a spontaneous picture. Usually it takes about 2 seconds after I intended to take the picture. The real problem is that 8 months after I owned the camera, it simply stopped turning on. I sent it to canon and they kindly repaired it for me for free while it was still under warranty, saying the dc jack went bad. 7 months after that repair, I had the same exact problem. I sent it to Canon again and they sent me a letter saying it would cost $97.56 to repair. After calling them, they were able to fix it free of charge, but I am concerned that this problem will arise again. Other than that problem, I think the A95 is a great camera with lots of features with long battery time.

Excellent camera...Versatility off the charts!!
by shahin_usa ,Jul 05 '07
Pros: Image quality, optical IS, ultra zoom, excellent macro, good low light, small.
Cons: No manual white balance; but Nikon is god of metering, so not a problem!
My decision to purchase the Nikon S-10 was based on the need for a compact camera with the ability to deliver excellent image quality in a wide variety of situations. Although there are a lot of superb cameras with the capabilities for excellent macro photography, low lighting, difficult lighting, ultra zoom, and TRUE image stabilization…none are nearly as small as the Nikon S-10. It’s hard to believe that Nikon has been able to put so much capability into such a tiny (relatively speaking!) package. With the S10 I have been able to take amazing photos in situations that would challenge most other cameras; and I should know-I have owned seven other digital cameras!

Love it!
by thew60 ,Jan 04 '05
Pros: 9 point AF, build quality, image quality
Cons: a bit more red eye than I would have expected. CF door flimsy.(so?)
Bought this to replace a 3MP Kodak. No comparison whatsoever! The Canon's build quality, image quality and options rival those of a much more expensive camera.
14 shooting modes including aperture/shutter priority give me a lot of shooting options. I happen to LIKE the AA batteries....get the MAHA charger with Powerex 2300mAh batteries and you're SET! You can always keep a spare set of charged batteries in the case.

A terrific digital camera
by avatar2025 ,Dec 16 '04
Pros: Easy to use, rich and true colors, excellent detail, strong flash, large LCD viewer
Cons: Alkaline batteries (recommend rechargable NiMH instead), 32MB flash card too small
The A95 is my first digital camera. The documentation with it is formidable but easy to follow. Even without going through every page and detail I was able to load (batteries and flash card), shoot some test photos, and download them from the flash card and the USB connection, all in less than 30 minutes.

The picture quality is excellent...looks like 35mm to my eye. The colors are rich and true.

I spent considerable time researching this first digital camera purchase. I made the right choice.

Buy Canon at your own risk
by lowdown100 ,Dec 18 '04
Pros: Nothing good about the Canon company,,,Oh it works for a while
Cons: Hey it's your money..Buy anything but Canon
All I can say is when you've spent $300 and the camera fails with the E18 message. Canon will do little than overcharge to fix it,
They will accuse you of abusing it,,They have the worst service and the worst appreciation for their customers..
Go buy and spin the roulette wheel, Canon just denies it is every their product,,Lots of money for camera that may last one year

Amazing Camera for the Price!!!
by lyds4 ,Nov 11 '04
Pros: The LCD, 14 shooting modes, and manual operation options make this camera a great buy!
Cons: The camera eats batteries (with LCD use); included flashcard is too small for enthusiasts.
This was my first digital camera purchase, and I couldn't be happier! Aside from its impressive 5MP, the LCD allows you to preview the picture you're about to take with incredible accuracy. I love the Sepia tone and B&W options, along with fluorescent, tungsten, day-time, and cloudy options. You can play with shutter speed, and aperture (after reading the manual). I took my camera to the zoo, and the pictures came out flawlessly. Transferring the images to my computer was beyond easy!

Cons: The camera is powered by 4 AA batteries, which go VERY quickly if you use the LCD regularly. Additionally, the camera only comes with a 32MB CompactFlash card, which equates to a meek 12 pictures at full resolution. I had to purchase a larger flashcard (I would recommend a 512MB if you plan on doing a lot of shooting). Also, photos taken with the digital zoom turn out grainier than those taken with the optical.

Overall, the functionality, features, and quality of the camera far exceed the cost! This is an excellent choice for photography enthusiasts who may be more along the amateur stage.
