I was expecting it to be small, but it's really small! So after about a month of ownership, I decided it's time to write a review. And the verdict? It's really good! I wouldn't say great, but it's close. Configuration: Intel 755 2.0 GHZ ...
Pros: Size, Screen, Weight, Price (of course), Battery life, Cons: Keyboard, Construction Quality, placement of ports
* I've been using this for a while now and I think it's about time to update my experience. [Things that I enjoyed] 1. USB ports on the left side instead of the back - it's easy to access and use 2. weight and ease of carrying around - even with ...
Pros: bright screen. powerful processor, FAST! light weight, and small size. good extended power battery Cons: stock battery sucks. shiny screen can give a lot of glare. proprietary charger plug...
I've used numerous laptops throughout the past decade + starting with old 386 laptops to my most recent 700M. I used this for a month before writing a review to get the best feeling for it before passing summary judgement. I now use my HP ZD7000 desktop ...
Pros: Wonderful screen (the best), quick, stylish, and truly portable Cons: Battery life and white strip border
Right off the bat, if you have even slightly large hands (unlike me), and plan to do a decent amount of typing, find a different system. Otherwise, this is one of the best laptops I've ever seen! Now, I'll try to break this up into three categories: ...
Pros: Excellent value notebook that is small, light with a great screen and battery life. Cons: Layout and availability of ports, let down by speakers and lack of complete reinstall disks
I have been in the market for a new mobile laptop to replace an aging Toshiba Satellite computer and had recently narrowed it down to a Fujitsu 7010 or the Dell 700m. Both sacrifice screen size and performance for light weight and portability. My ...
Pros: dell did it again! almost everything is perfect Cons: speakers could be better.
One of my best toys yet. Just got it 3 month ago from Dell directly. Its fully loaded super light, wide screen Centrino technology machine. It has everything that can be possibly offered in any super portable notebook!!!! The best available 12.1in wide ...
Pros: light weight, high quality screen, good performance. Cons: native viewing resolution may be a problem for some.
One of my users had tried a Dell Latitude 505 for a weekend, and while he liked the performance, said "I'm on the road enough that I don't want to carry something that heavy - can we get something lighter?" At that point, he was leaning toward an ...
Pros: lightwieight, solid 7 hours of battery life. Excellent Screen Cons: Cheesy color, 1 PCMCIA slot, No single function audio controls
As a road warrior vet (My first "laptop" weighed 15lbs) I can really appriciate the lightwieght Dell 700m laptop. I was concerned about the 12 inch screen and the 1280 screen resolution. But, even with my old eyes, I find the screen very easy to use and ...
Pros: Small, light, quiet and cool. Solid build, excellent screen. Cons: Small keyboard with some non-standard layout (typical for this class). Typical so-so support.
This is a great little notebook, excellent for traveling or as a 2nd system. The screen is extremely bright and sharp. When I put this system next to my other laptop and LCD monitor, they looked positively murky in comparison. Some people have ...
Pros: good as a portable laptop. small and light. Cons: keyboard a bit cramped and screen is pretty small. terrible as a desktop replacement. expensive.
REVIEW UPDATE: lately, I've been having 2 problems with this laptop: 1) Blue screen due to graphics adapter driver going into an endless loop. This happens when logging in and I think during the time when the external monitor display settings take into ...
With the ever so random 750 off internet coupon, you can get this laptop for a steal. Granted, it is not an IBM build quality machine, but it is also about 60% the cost. I have been very happy with the machine so far. If you have a small screw driver and ...
lightweight notebook with powerful Pentium M Dothan chipset by kitasgu ,Oct 31 '04
Pros: lightweight, fast Pentium M Dothan processor (2M L2 cache) and crystal clear widescreen display Cons: poor standard battery performance (2.5 hrs); extended life battery is a mandatory option
This notebook is about 4.5 lbs with the extended life battery. It has a 90% keyboard and a very nice 12.1 inch widescreen display. This notebook is made for going on the road and is not a desktop replacement.
I configured mine with 768 MB memory and a 7200 rpm Hitachi TravelStar 7K60 hard drive. The hard drive was not available as a configuration option, so I purchased it from Dell as a separate part and installed it myself.
I wanted the performance of the 7200 rpm drive, but was concerned with the power consumption factor. So I played a 2 hour DVD movie and the power status indicator reported that I had 40% battery remaining. This exceeded my expectations. Due to the drive upgrade, the 700m boots incredibly quicker than with the original 4200 rpm drive.
The display is crystal clear; but it is slightly reflective. The widescreen format also make it nice for watching widescreen DVD movies.
Pros: Small, light, nice design Cons: Small toy keyboard, no bluetooth.
This is a nice looking machine, nice screen (could be higher resolution though), small, thin, and light. The problem is something they forget to mention on the Dell website: the keyboard is smaller than standard size. This makes doing any serious typing pretty much impossible. This computer is excellent for the executive with hunt and peck typing to take a view notes, browse the web, and watch DVDs. For serious work, you'll have to look for something else.

Bought this as a replacement for my Inspiron 8100. The 700m weighs 4 pounds and is very convinient. I bought the bigger battery (65WH) and it lasted well over 3 hours after the first full charge. The display is highly reflective and I suspect that this will be a problem in brightly lit places like airports, etc.
The built-in wirelss immidiately found my hoe/office wireless network and I was connected instantaneously. The built-in SD Card reader is a good addition since I can transfer my digital camera pictures without having to plug the camera into the notebook.
The keyboard is not as well laid out as I would want. The . key is very small and makes it cumbersome while browsing.
