Pros: It was free with solid appearing chassis. Not too noisy. Adequate speed. Cons: Ink guzzler. JUST WON'T WORK!
I'm not going to spend much time giving a lengthy review on this thing...just don't get it! Even if they give it to you free as part of a promotional package. Having been part of a promotional offer from MacMall when I bought my Ibook and ...
Pros: cheap, looks nice, usb and parallel ports, works with Linux. Cons: average print, bad color print, wastes ink, exspensive cartridges - stay away!!!
OK, i don't think this printer is as bad as people are saying...yes, it's not great by any stretch of the imagination, but seven 1 star ratings? OK, maybe your right. I'm gonna make it 8! First off, this printer works under Linux - thats a bonus (for ...
Pros: Decent quality, works with solaris (via gimp-print) Cons: Stopped working after a year
I bought this printer for my small business, but very little use. I printed maybe 10-50 sheets a month, mostly invoices. I bought it from office depot for about $100 and also got their 2-year product protection. I'm glad I did, because the printer ...
Pros: Older, models WERE work-horses Cons: Have to replace it within a year's time.
I used an Epson Stylus Color 800 from the mid 90's to the early 2000's. That printer was a work horse! I couldn't praise it more. When it finally gave out, I replaced it with an Epson Stylus C-84, which seemed to work great right off the bat. It sat ...
Pros: Great color. Cons: Has the life-span of a gypsy moth.
We bought this printer when the reviews were great. And it was great at first, but now we cannot use it any longer because the black ink head is clogged and we went through a cartridge of ink trying to clear it. Epson says it should clean the head in ...
Pros: Inexpensive, looks nice. Cons: Quality is very suspect.
I've owned several Epson printers over the years, and before the C84 every one of them was working fine right up until the day I put it out to pasture. The C84 is an inexpensive choice, and I found it to be available at a host of different online ...
Ditto the reviews, DO NOT consider this printer. by cutedeedle ,Jan 20 '06
Pros: Worked fine for one year, no troubles. Cons: After one year's very light use, absolutely dead.
I don't see much point in reviewing the details of this printer, since it has such a low rating.
I am a former manager of support techies in I.T. and my troubleshooting skills are top-notch. However, approximately one year after purchase -- like several other reviewers' experiences -- the printer stopped printing, no error codes, no flashing lights, no apparent reason, just no output. I spent hours trying everything, including installing two different new Epson black cartridges. The printer wouldn't even print the power on self-test, which doesn't need any software driver or connectivity to the computer. No dice, nothing I did made any difference whatsoever, including running all the cleaning and alignment utilities many times, plus troubleshooting via the Epson web site. The wretched thing is simply dead after one year's very light use, maybe ten to twelve pages a month. And I concur with others, it sucks up ink cartridges like water.
Like others posted here, I will be replacing this and my older Xerox DocuPrint P12 with a new color laser printer.
Pros: I actually cannot think of one right now. Cons: Marginal printing, INK HOG, very expensive cartridges. There's plenty more.
Total piece of crap. If you do any printing of pictures or things like that, get ready to get out the checkbook to buy EXPENSIVE ink. Lots of it. Considerable ink hog. What makes this even worse is it requires CONSTANT head cleaning cycles which consumes even more ink. Plus, it won't be long before the print head simply quits (read other reviews). SO..long story short..if you have the cash to buy all the ink this POS requires, spend it on a better printer instead, like a Cannon.
Don't waste your time, get something else. by stargirl283 ,Aug 02 '05
Pros: Works well at first. Cons: Feeds multiple pages, takes forever to start printing, uses up ink like Hummers use gas.
I bought this printer a year and a half ago when the printer that came with my computer died. The man in Best Buy assured me it was a quality printer for a bargain price, which was exactly what I was looking for. I used it for school, printing a paper here, or an article there; only about 10-15 pages a week. About two weeks after the warranty expired, it started feeding multiple pages ALL THE TIME. It thought there were paper jams when there weren't any. I bought all kinds of expensive paper, and tried all the trouble shooting guides, but nothing worked. It got so bad that after every page that printed, I'd have to hit the "paper jam" button so it would resume printing. Recently it has stopped feeding paper completely, and refuses to print anything.
I called Epson Technical Support, but they wanted to charge me $10 for support that might not even fix the thing, so I decided to check out epinions before I wasted any more money, and I'm glad I did. What a worthless piece of junk! I won't be buying another Epson printer any time in the forseeable future.
I will no longer buy Epson by robjanna ,Jan 28 '07
Pros: cheap, good prints while it lasted Cons: look up "Planned Obsolescence" then look up "rip off"
What a shame. The printer worked well for a year. Good print quality at the cost of high ink usage. I was willing to put up with it until it started to clog. I thought it was the ink. I bought more. That didn't help. I called Epson; it would cost more to fix it than what I paid for it. It turns out that, if you don't use the printer (nearly) daily, the ink in the nozzle will clog and then it is a doorstop.
Epson knew about the ink usage problem, the not fully used ink in cartridge problem, the clogging problem and they probably know about more that I haven't. The company is off my list of manufacturers to even consider.
If I could only reach thru the phone to strangle an EPSON techrep! by jlsmls ,Jan 07 '07
Pros: None - I've wasted my money on this piece of $%!#. Cons: INK HOG. TechSupport Sucks.
The printer was working until I went to change to new ink cartridges. I had to retry multiple times. I seems like it wouldn't charge the cartridges. I tried the nozzle check and head cleaning....these tools just sucked up half the ink FROM A BRAND NEW CARTRIDGE! The procedures for alignment in the manual make no sense whatsoever. Tech support was absolutely worthless. This thing is going into the trash!
Pros: Prints fast Cons: poor quality, breaks easily
Don't get this... even if it's free.
First of all, the print quality wasn't that great. I replaced an "old" HP printer with this when I got it for free after rebate with my laptop. the HP performed much better with great image quality. I never had a problem.
This mess... it turns out the printer heads clog and make the printer worthless. As some of the other reviews here state... I cannot print even though all the ink cartridges are full.
So Epsons marketing plan is to give away free printers to sell ink. Then one day, after spending $60 on ink, you realize you have to throw out the printer.
Pros: Looks space aged and you can buy 'em on eBay for less than 20 bucks! Cons: Quality has gone bye bye... expensive ink, cheaply made, not what they once were.
So much for brand loyalty! My old Epson was a real workhorse and ink was reasonably priced. So naturally I went for Epson when I wanted a new printer. I didn't bother to research it so I guess I have only myself to blame... Oh my new Epson looked really neat and it worked great in the beginning. Try using it after it's sat for a while; head cleaning time! Use half your ink just trying to get it to print a decent picture, and ink aint cheap for this thing either. Epson just lost a loyal customer! I'm not the only one who feels this way either; I see people trying to get 20 bucks for these things on eBay... what a joke!
I will never buy epson again. by mrmaseng ,Nov 06 '05
Pros: cheap Cons: cheap
this one made me so angry I will definitely never buy another epson product again. I can't imagine how a company can just spit in its customers faces like this. the machine lasted less than a year before completely falling apart. still, during its short life it managed to "guzzle" a tankerfull of expensive ink. I use parenthesis since it did not actually guzzle it, the chip inside made it seem as if it had, even when it was not in use. epson basically steal and cheat you out of quite a lot of cash this way. look it up, a lot of people have been through this (next time I'll read the reviews before buying).
in short, if you don't like being robbed and lied to, stay away from this heap of junk and the crooks who make it.
