Oh the things I get excited over...

by mamashan , Apr 04 '06
Pros: Ability to turn brushes off and on, good suction/extraction, adjustable detergent release, compact storage
Cons: Having to clean the bristles after a few uses, but that would be any extractor.
As I stated in my review of the Dyson DC-15 Ball All Floors vacuum, we have 4 kids under 5 and a white cat. All these hoodlums make for messy carpets/floors/couches. I wanted a deep cleaner/extractor that would get the job done, and wouldn't cost me a ...

HORRIBLE purchase! Where's my Bissel?

by KJ101 , Aug 29 '07
Pros: Folds up for storage, price, accessories rack, brush head on extension, carries nicely
Cons: Leaks! Doesn't suck well, no "steam", shampoo mixes in clean water, slippery tanks.
I bought it after I wore out my old-fashioned Bissel tank model, then wore out a Hoover SteamVac even quicker. I hate it. I wrote to the company since WalMart won't return it (they don't know what to do when I bring these big machines back in...its ...

The results are seen in the coffee color water that is sucked up! (yuck).......

by tapc1 , Aug 09 '04
Pros: Leaves the carpet looking great! Collapses for storage.
Cons: Small water tanks. Has to be pulled/pushed slowly.
****update 2-2008 I still use this machine, and after reading the many negative reviews, I'm guessing nobody read my review first! lol... It's alot of work, but about 4 years I still use it, and with now 2 kids, it still works like a charm, lifting a ...

Worst machine ever.

by ajlauer , Jun 02 '06
Pros: 3 separate tanks, ability to turn brushes off
Cons: leaves 2/3rds water IN your carpet, 6 month lifespan
UPDATE 6 MONTHS LATER: My machine is no longer spraying the cleaning fluid. I set it in the garage, waiting to return it after Xmas as a "defective gift". (oh, like you've never done that!) Anyways, the toilet overflowed today and my kids failed to ...

Great product!!
by stnogo3 ,Jul 02 '04
Pros: Lightweight, easy to use water tanks. Stores in closet without moving clothes.
Cons: There appears to be zero cons to this product so far...
The cleaner arrives fully assembled and ready to go. Light weight and great power. Great price and it is the best cleaner that I have ever purchased. I own three now, a junk Hoover, a broken, and non-returnable, Bissell! The Eureka is the only one that cleans pet hair and other stains out of thick pile carpet. Separate adjustable water and soap containers! The attachments are readily available in the included caddy!

Piece of CRAP
by suckthis ,Nov 17 '06
Pros: Folded up into convenient space. Was affordable (if it actually worked)
Cons: Bad suction, distance to end of handle in tight rooms, Poor durability 6 months
I'M totally TIRED of corporations ripping me off!!

Right now, I have an 8 month old leaking, loud, barely vacuuming, cleaner sitting on the tile floor in a puddle!!

I'm SO disgusted!

We have ceramic tile floors in Florida and two bedrooms with carpet. Like one review said, 3 clean tanks to one dirty tank... the carpets have to dry with the air conditioning on high!
The tile...takes two or 3 passes to vacuum it!

Why is it leaking?... the constant vibration from rolling over all the seams of the tile formed stress cracks around every bottom plate retaining screw and now the water just drains out of the cracked/loose bottom cover!!

Here's an idea... spend less money in advertising and more on research and development!!!!!!!!

Now I know what anger drives people to buy another unit and switch out the pieces!

Here we go again=another lemon/ #4
by pasqualy ,Apr 12 '05
Pros: I like the portability of the machine...it's very compact when it is folded down.
Cons: The rinse tank leaks when full. Sucks cleaning solution into the rinse tank.
After my 3rd Eureka Atlantis I had to send it back Sept 1, 05. Now the handle broke ( wont stay up) and it's leaking again. I'm getting cleaning solution in the rinse tank.
When the rinse tank is full it will leak a stream. I have to fill the rinse tank just half full.
With cleaning solution getting into the rinse tank, the rug is never getting rinsed. This will lead to the rug attracting dirt.
I noticed that they are selling the machine at the store again so maybe they have the problems fixed.

Easy convenience in a tiny package.
by smartfish ,Jun 23 '05
Pros: Storage size, ease of use, no measuring soap and water.
Cons: The brushes and the small clean water tank.
I was looking for something to make my carpet stand up again. I have a cat and a large dog, both of whom shed all over and drool a lot. And the dog has "accidents" often. The "deep steam extractor" works like an actual steam machine if you put very hot but not boiling (like the instructions say) water into the clean water tank. It picked up all the animal hair and loads of dirt in areas I didn't think would be that dirty. I didn't think it was too heavy when compared to some of the other options. And pushing and pulling it up and down my stairs and all over my living room didn't wear me out nearly as much as my vacuum does! The carrying handle is very convenient for movement on the stairs and the attachment hoses are very long compared to most machines. The brushes do leave room for improvement.

Eureka -Atlantis - Junk
by penewise ,Mar 09 '09
Pros: This unit stores nicely.
Cons: The Atlantis is worthless.
This was a bad purchase. Looks good, stores nicely doesn't work at all.
Dumps a lot of water but doesn't suck any back up.
I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

"Steam" has nothing to do with it...
by mpearrow ,Nov 08 '04
Pros: Nice form factor; no assembly required
Cons: Is not what it is labeled at all - does not use steam to clean
I purchased this product thinking that it was a steam cleaner, like all the other models it was next to on the shelf. On the box, the Atlantis is called a "deep steam extractor". I liked the form factor (it folds down for easy storage) better than the other steam cleaners, so I bought it.

When I got it home and tried it, I noticed that the carpet where I had cleaned was damp and cold. I figured that maybe the steam generator inside needed time to warm up, so I waited a while, then tried it again. Same results.

I called the 800 number for Eureka consumer support. When I explained the situation, I was told "Oh, that cleaner doesn't generate steam, you have to put hot water into it". I asked why Eureka would call this thing a "deep steam extractor" if it has nothing to do whatsoever with steam. "I don't know why they decided to call it that, but it doesn't make steam".

Eureka has deceptively labeled this product, which is really just a carpet shampooer. It's as much a "steam extractor" as it is a depleted uranium extractor.

WASTE OF MONEY!!!!!!!!!
by etherealwi ,Jan 04 '06
Pros: Design, I suppose...
Cons: Long handle, small reservoirs, didn't actually clean anything, hard to push, should include medical coverage.
When we purchased the Atlantis it wasn't our first choice but it seemed it was the next best thing... It has a good concept for design, but in turn it's HUGE! I had to start a good 5ft from any wall behind me because of it's size and the handle was still a good 4ft.+ off the ground which caused a backache the following day. The reservoirs are fairly small due to the design also. I suppose there would have to be a positive about this machine so it'd be the look, which causes a lot of negatives! As far as cleaning, I'm surprised this machine didn't make my carpets dirtier, but it didn't clean ANYTHING! Even a small spot where an ashtray had fallen was still there after going over it 3 times... I owned this machine for a night, the next day I exchanged it for a Hoover which cleaned up nearly everything! Spend the extra $20 and get a Hoover, you'll be MUCH happier!

Terrible extractor-returned product
by dtremmel ,Jun 07 '04
Pros: None
Cons: Doesn't extract dirty water, very heavy and hard to push.
I was so excited about this carpet cleaner. It looked easy to use, but it is now on its way back to Amazon. It left my carpet soaking wet, and gave me a sore back. It did not extract the dirty water from the carpet, and it was very difficult to push.

Great job for the price
by slwmjh ,Jan 28 '05
Pros: My carpets were thoroughly cleaned. Stores very easily. Easy to use.
Cons: The clean water tank is very small.
Loved the product. My 10 year old carpets were completely cleaned. I could not find a spot anywhere. For the price and size, I was very impressed. My only complaint is the water tank was very small and you had to empty it often, but I wouldn't want to trade the extra weight it would add for a larger tank. Also, it is very easy to use - I barely read the instructions.

Deceived!!
by mrsgadget ,Feb 27 '05
Pros: pretty fold away design.
Cons: HARD to push, does not heat water, Brush DOES NOT rotate
I saw it in the store and was impressed by its fold away convenience and NEW brush technology. I just naturally assumed that it HEATED the water because it said "Deep Steam Extractor". The brush is just a stick of bristles that move back and forth in a MATTING motion, they do not rotate in a circular motion. That sleek little design is pretty to look at but HARD to push. I am totally disappointed with this product. It appears to clean the carpet but I am sure it is surface clean and not DEEP cleaned because the suction is not good enough and the water is not heated. Does that make this JUST A WET VAC? IT IS GOING BACK TO THE STORE!!
