General Electric GSD4000J 24 in. Built-in Dishwasher

Pros: Nothing
Cons: Loud, Doesn't Clean at all, Not under the recall

We moved in a brand new home with this new GSD4000JOOCC dishwasher. It is the worst dishwasher we've ever owned!!! The dishes have always come out dirty. We may drink a glass of water from a clean glass and inevitably it comes out caked at the bottom of the glass with dirt. Yesterday it started leaking all over the floor. I thought one of the kids spilled water from the refrigerator so today I used the dishwasher again. Nope, it WAS the dishwasher. Soap and water cover my ENTIRE kitchen floor. I called GE and it is not covered under the recall. BUMMER!!
We called a local appliance store and we will purchase a Whirlpool They highly recommended the GU2370 which is similar to the GU3600 but $300 cheaper. Ordinary retail stores like Best Buy will not carry it as it is a contractors store item.

Pros: Quiet, Lots of Options (dont always work), Looks Good
Cons: Wouldnt clean dishes -ever. More con needed?

We purchased GE GSD4000 model as it had all of the options that were important to us and seemed like a good deal in the price range that we could afford right now. After initial install, it didnt seem to clean as I had expected and was told that sometimes it "takes time" for it to get "used to cleaning". This was NOT the case. After 1 month, I still had to rinse and wipe every dish before putting it in. There was usually still food on dishes after the clean and every single dish was always (yes, always) spotted -regardless of the rinse agent or water temp or soap used. Actually washing the dishes was the whole point so we exchanged it for another brand... Will never buy a GE again.

Pros: This was a fairly inexpensive washer
Cons: 'Macerator' feature seems counter-productive. Loud! Does not clean well.

We purchased this washer to replace a very good but very old one that the timer had failed on.
This washer was a disappointment in many ways: the 'macerator' 'feature' mearly grinds up any food on the dishes and re-deposites them on the dishes. The fill valve has failed twice ( and been replaced under warranty), and the top rack was replaced once for exposed rusty metal; also under warranty.
This washer is fairly loud, and does a mediocre job of getting even lightly soiled dishes clean (even using the recommended detergent
