I was perfectly satisfied with my 15 year-old countertop microwave I had before remodeling our kitchen last year. It was like an old friend--comfortable, reliable, and trustworthy. Unfortunately, we decided that an over-the-range model would better suit ...
Despite the fact that I dont really use microwaves very much and dont particularly like them I seem to keep ending up with nice ones. Now I was thrilled a few years back when I bought my GE JVM1440 Microwave Oven. (If you are interested here ...
Pros: Many features, reasonable price, comes in attractive colors. Cons: No convection feature; this is a mid-priced model
Introduction The GE JVM2070 1100 Watts Microwave Oven has more features than past generations of under-cabinet microwaves, competing with Maytag and other higher end manufacturers. Microwaves are here to stay, part of the standard kitchen along ...
Pros: Touchscreen control panel. Huge oven cavity at 2.0 cu ft. Cons: Kinda pricey, shop around for best price.
If a microwave can be "cool" this one is. It has so many features, I hardly know where to start. The one that jumps out the most at you, is the touchscreen control panel. This is totally dark, except for the clock display, until you either open the door, ...
Pros: Looks nice. Cons: Very poor quality parts and electronics.
I bought the JVM 2070 in 2004 when doing a re-model. It didn't get installed right away so it sat in the box in the house until the kitchen was ready for it to be installed. Out of the box the black plastic frame that holds the vent louver on was broken. ...
Pros: No hard-to-clean plastic grille on top, huge cavity, sensor cooking, powerful exhaust, excellent looks Cons: None so far
I bought this unit for my Mom as a replacement for her 12-year-old GE combination Microwave/Convection over the range unit (model JVM192K) that stopped working completely after making funny noises for a few weeks. Since my Mom never used the convection ...
Pros: This microwave looks very nice and matches other GE appliances. Cons: Doesn't work past 2 years!
It looks like I have one of these microwaves with the 2 year mark failures! This microwave looks great and worked great too until it all of a sudden started shutting off after 3 seconds. From what I have read online I am not the only one with this ...
Pros: Looks like a million bucks. Cons: Could cost you a million bucks.

Now the review. Let me start by saying I loved this machine initially. I loved the way it ...
Pros: Looks and functionality. Cons: Very unreliable, poorly manufactured, expensive for the quality.
We bought GE Profile Range and Microwave Oven 3 years ago. Even though I had reservations about GE appliances, the salesman persuaded us saying that this is their high end brand. The first trouble with the microwave started at about 15 ...
Pros: The LCD menu system is nice, programmable night light feature very useful, great cooking power Cons: A series of malfunctions after warranty expiration
We bought this with matching refrigerator and range. First at 14 months (just after warranty expired) the door handle's lower mount broke loose. We tried to glue with "Gorilla Glue" but no luck. We learned to open the door by grabbing the lower door edge. Since it was an over the range mount this worked but it was annoying. Then at about 1.5 years then sensor cooking became unreliable. It began under cooking things like fresh veggies. It would report a whole head of cut up cauliflower as fully cooked after just a couple of minutes when in actuality it was just barely warm. At 2 years of service the oven began to shut itself off immediately after startup and the clock would reset itself to a random time. If unplugged for a couple hours it would resume normal operation for one or 2 cooking cycles then go back to it's immediate shut off behavior. Other users have experience similar problems. We have called for service and it will cost $69 just for the repair person to show up. If cost of repair is too great we'll scrap it and buy a different brand.
Pros: Looks good. Good functions and easy to use. Cons: ONLY one year warranty. Not durable
The Microwave is 23 months old and the unit started to shut off a few weeks ago as follows: When selecting cook popcorn a message comes up that says "the current sensor feature has been interrupted by opening the door. To resume interruption close door and press start". We open the door and re-close it and then it shuts off and the numbers on the display are 8888. After a few seconds it says reset clock. Also, this problem is intermittent on other selections.
When the Microwave was working I thought it was the best looking/feature product for the $ but I see someone else is having the same problem so it seems to be a Quality issue. Looks likes GE might need to re-look at their six sigma design process on this one.
Great when working, but durability an issue by tx_steve ,May 03 '07
Pros: Many features, nice appearance Cons: Durability
We replaced an old but still working microwave with the JVM2070. It has many nice features, more than I personally would ever need. It is also much more powerful than the old unit, heating food in about half the time. And the night light feature is very handy. But, we started having problems at about the 2 year mark. Sometimes it would work, other times it would just shut off when you started to cook something. Phone conversations with a service company indicate a circuit board failure, which is only covered under warranty for the first year and I'm sure will not be cheap. For the price of this unit, I would expect more durability and would like to see a better warranty.
We purchased this unit and a range at the same time. The range has held up so far. We are also in the market for a refrigerator and dish washer now and were planning to go with GE to have all matching appliances. However, the microwave problems will have us looking at other brands.
Pros: Great looks and features Cons: Poor durability. Cheaper to replace than repair.
We loved it for a short while. Then eventually whenever we would try to use it, it would begin to cook, then suddenly shut itself off after a couple of seconds as if it were unplugged and then plugged back in. We had the motherboard and mag replaced under warranty within the first year. It worked for a few more months or so before the same thing started happening again. Now the warranty is up and GE says it will cost $286 for the motherboard, plus $135 for the mag, plus whatever labor costs. Customer service was no help either. Avoid this microwave.
Pros: Nice features Cons: Unreliable cheap junk made in Malaysia. Ge when are you going to learn?
In a year and a half 4 service calls 3 to repair faulty fan motors now 6 months out of warranty the control board has failed.. Cost with labor $425.00 to repair. Are they nuts? If my dealer does not take it back (A very large GE dealer), I feel like taking it off the wall and throwing it out in the street then sending the crushed unit to GE. RUN AWAY FROM THIS ONE
Pros: Look good Cons: Didn't last more than 3 years
We bought all new GE Profile appliances for our kitchen remodel. We spent extra under the assumption we were getting the best. They looked great but didn't last very long. After 1 year our refrigerator started making a clunking sound. We were told it was an "air flow control" and would cost $450 to fix. We decided to live with the noise.
After 3 years of working great, our microwave began to have problems.
1) Surface light went out. Replaced light and still didn't work.
2) The microwave began to shut off as if the power went out during cooking. This problem got worse over a 6 month period. Repair man said (to the best of my memory) there was a crack in the case and microwaves were getting behind the control panel. He said it would be cheaper to buy a new microwave.
GE said "I am sorry Sir, but it is out of warranty."
I feel cheated because it seems as though these types of appliances should last more than 3 years.
My range is still working so far. However, I will not make the mistake of purchasing another GE Appliance.
