Awesome sound for an awesome price!

by foood4thought , Dec 03 '03
Pros: GREAT sound, DURABLE, light, comfortable, CHEAP, long cord, 1/8in to 1/4in adaptor
Cons: pretty much none
I got these headphones for use with my computer. The 40mm drivers deliver excellent bass while still providing good treble response. The headphones are very comfortable even when used for hours at a time. They are also VERY light for headphones of this ...

Pros: Inexpensive great sound!
Cons: none
Looking for great sound at a low price? The ATH-M2X is it! I bought the first set for late-night TV watching, and was so impressed that I bought another pair for privacy use with my computer. I will buy more sets for other family members and for gifts...

Good for the price
by dang2005 ,Dec 31 '05
Pros: Long cord, comfortable, 1/4" adapter included.
Cons: Sound quality is OK for the price but not spectacular.
The sound quality is OK, given the price of these headphones. I paid roughly $17 online for them. However, I recommend spending more money for better headphones.

At normal volume levels these headphones sound quite good. At higher volume levels I heard some distortion, especially when playing songs with deep bass (with the bass boosted on my equalizer). Of course, most headphones will distort the sound if the volume is turned up too high, but in my opinion a great pair of headphones should have been able to handle the volume level that I was using.

As a point of reference I compared these headphones to an old cheap pair of Panasonic headphones that I've owned for ~15 years. I found that the Panasonic headphones could reproduce sound at higher volume levels before noticeably distorting.
