Pros: Great quality images, low cost purchase price Cons: High cost of consumables, slow color printing and single paper tray
It recently became necessary for us to pick up a new color laser printer for one of our departments. My boss went in search of one at our local CompUSA and he returned with a HP Color Laserjet 2550L. Since it was a HP printer I had no doubt that ...

Pros: Decent quality photo printing, excellent for business forms Cons: Not a "high" resolution printer, cost of supplies
I have been faithfully using my old Hewlett Packard LaserJet 5L for printing business forms and letters for a long time but recently lost it to a water problem in our basement. Our insurance company took the claim on all the computer equipment (after we ...
Pros: Beautiful and cheap prints, quick print time for multiple pages Cons: Slow start-up cycling time, expensive if replacing all toners at once
I am mostly a personal user, with some small-business use thrown in. I will get NOWHERE near the 30,000 monthly cycle pages this printer is rated for (I won't even get near that in a year)...so why did I get this one? Especially when I already have a ...
Pros: Inexpensive
Great quality, black and colour,
An HP printer
COLOUR! Cons: SMART CHIP TECHNOLOGY that kills cartridges when they're "empty",
Expensive toners,
HUGE
The first thing I thought when I saw this printer: Good god, Fisher Price now designs printers for HP! This machine is a bit of a monster to get home from the store, especially for those of us who aren't used to having printers the size of small ...
Pros: Good image quality, cheap to buy. Cons: Very expensive toner cartridges, operational annoyances. Black and white also expensive.
We found ourselves needing a color printer for our small business. Like many others, I poked around the possibilities, with HP at the top of my list based on experiences with their black and white printers. I found this printer for what seemed a very ...
Pros: Price,
HP Name Cons: Takes TOO long to print quality images
I usually print 300DPI Photoshop files that are roughly 100MB in size. This printer takes over 30 minutes to process and then print an 80MB file when printed from Photoshop. This is a single page, single sided brochure. This would be good for an ...
Pros: Black and white printing yields acceptable copy. Cons: Doesn't come close to producing at advertised specs, what does result is not acceptable
As a general rule I like HP products. If I can I review there offering in almost any arena where I must buy for us, office or home. We had occasion to replace our laser color printer and I was drawn to HP 2550L by the price and of course my preference ...
Pros: Very decent quality for both black and white and color printing. Cons: Slow speed. Extremely expensive toner. Cheaply constructed machine. No technical support.
I run a small company that badly needed a good quality and cost effective color laser printer. When we purchased the hp 2550L two and a half years ago, we were sold on its advertised affordability, speed, and ease of use. The hp color Laser Jet 2550L ...
Pros: Reliable Cons: Consumable costs are prohibitive.
I agree with Optopia -- the cost of consumables makes this printer a poor choice. My 2550 has been reliable, loud, and slower than an inkjet for single page printouts. I also had to add extra memory to have a functional color printer. But the ...
Pros: Easy to set up. Great color printing. Cons: The printer is HUGE (though not more than most color laserjets).
I was a bit hesitant about purchasing this printer after reading a couple of the earlier reviews. My main concern was the "SmartChip Technology" which seemed like it would lead to wasted toner ink. But I couldn't resist the cheap price and ended up ...
This is a bad product which I bought from a bad retailer. In short, the printer is poorly constructed, has no logical interface (HP has removed the one-line LCD they used to have on printers, replaced by flashing lights), and was defective straight ...
Low Initial Cost Great Color Prints by ninetbeater ,Jun 07 '08
Pros: Great Printouts, Photos with Photo paper, general with normal paper or hardstock. Cons: Toner set is more than the printer, luckily it isn't as often as inkjets.
inkjet.
I purchased this printer at Costco a few years ago and it has never let me down. As long as I have had it I have yet to need new toner cartridges, the same can't be said for an inkjet printer. If you let them sit for a while they dry up and are worthless.
For someone that needs color printouts but not on a daily basis this is the printer for you.
Recently I added a 250 sheet paper tray cheap since this is considered obsolete now and added a IOGear USB network sharing device to share it wireless to the two laptops in the family.
Pros: Fast, Color, and Low Price per Page Cons: Big and loud.
This is a large printer. The paper tray pulls out and sticks out. I HIGHLY think anyone who wants a printer should see it in person. Print out a test page and compare to other models. This printer is large, loud, slow, but produces color like NO OTHER INKJET. The quailty is out the roof.
TONER:
EVERYONE freeks out when they see that toner costs about 100 per color. 4 colors: Cyan, Yellow, Magenta, and Black and a drum that costs 175 U.S. dollars. The cost per color page is 3 cents while the cost of an inkjet printout is 7-13 cents per page. SUMMARY: This printer is cheeper in the long run to print color images and docs.
Don't buy this printer if you want to print in colour! by martinepc ,Apr 09 '07
Pros: Print quality is great Cons: Extremely noisy. Big Brother page counts. The money is in forcing you to buy cartridges.
This printer is a disaster because a) it is terribly noisy and much worse b) HP counts all pages going through the printer off the theoretical life of all the drums. Our printer stopped for good 6 months ago. Until a smart student found a way of beating the counter for a bit. The unit has finally stopped printing even though the printed pages were still completely acceptable 1200 pages later this month - that's 6 months of free printing because of HP's terrible Big Brother policy of counting every page pass as a printed page. In that 6 months of time it printed perfectly. The replacement cost of the toner and imaging drum (never mentioned in supplies by the way) is $800!
