Pros: Copious warm mist, very quiet, easy to clean. Medicine cup can be used for fragrance Cons: Quirky reset button. Power consumption? Built-in hygrometer useless.

old Hunter 33250, I tried the Honeywell, and was very pleased. [Note: This review has been updated after one year of ...
Pros: Quiet enough to use while sleeping, works very effectively. Cons: None... great unit!
I've had my unit for about 18 months now and although it broke recently broke (my own fault) I am definitely getting another one exactly like it. (I unplugged it while it was running and probably shorted something out.) I have a studio apartment with ...
Pros: Quiet Cons: A fire hazard (see below), humidistat is inaccurate and ineffective.
We bought this humidifier a couple years ago to help keep the air moist in our infant daughter's room during the winter. We were drawn to this model because of its digital humidity control. Our pediatrician had recommended a fairly specific range of ...
Pros: Quiet, effective, easily filled, did I mention quiet? Cons: Water tank could be larger.
I purchased this unit for a hotel suite that I am staying at for an extended period of time. I have cool mist humidifiers at home, but have always been disappointed in their noise and effectiveness. This unit, however, met my expectations for ...
not at all happy with Honeywell by udflyer ,Nov 19 '06
Pros: quiet, works well, easy to fill Cons: quits after a year; thermostat doesn't work
This is the second Honeywell humidifier I've bought. The first one was not digital, and stopped working after 2 years. This one I bought last year. I use it 24 hours a day all winter. Last winter -- no problems. Have turned it on for this winter, and it's been a month. The unit shuts off for no reason. I have scrubbed it clean, let it sit for a full 24 hours before turning it back on again.... nothing. I hear it heat up, but then the unit turns off on its own.
I will NOT be getting another Honeywell humidifier. It worked great for one season, bu less than one year of use is not worth it.
Honeywell Warm Mist is quiet but not reliable by biedziak ,May 24 '05
Pros: Very quiet. Cons: Not reliable broke down after 3-4 months.
Last fall I had been looking for a quiet humidifier for long time and it seemed that I found one. I bought Honeywell Warm Mist in December of 2004. It worked well in the beginning. I liked the timing and humidity levels controls and I was very happy with it quietness. My joy only lasted for about 4 months. One day when I tried to turn the humidifier on it did not work. The control screen was scrambled and none of the buttons work. I was very disappointed with the product and would not recommend it.
Pros: Okay when it works Cons: Contols don't always work
When it works its great. But beware this machine isn't really all its cracked up to be. I have to shake it to make it work sometimes. The controls don't seem to work. I will try to return this and exchange for another brand.
Poor Product Design - Don't waist your time or money by ca-consumer ,Jan 06 '05
Pros: Attractive concept Cons: Poor insulation/location of the humidity sensor. Does not work!
Nice concept, the ability to digitally set the humidity level in the room and then have the unit shut off automatically once the desired humidity has been reached... only it does not work. DON'T BUY THIS!!
I have tried 3 units and have had the same problem with each one. The minute I turned on the unit, it indicated that the humidity in my 400 sq/ft room was 45%. 5 minutes later it was reading 90%, which is physically impossible. The reason, the humidity sensor (hygrometer) is located inside the casing and is poorly insulated from all the moisture content inside the casing unit. Thus, the sensor reads the humidity inside the casing and not in the room. This flaw makes the unit completely unusable in its intended form because it always shuts off unless you use the continuous setting, which completely defeats the purpose of having a built in hygrometer with programmable settings. Again, DO NOT BUY THIS!!!
This product in NOT manufactured by Honeywell. A company by the name of Kaz manufactures this unit and had no solution to the problem.
Bought this last year when we installed a woodstove. It worked fine during its short life. It didn't make it through the winter. It ran for about 3 months, then one day wouldn't turn on.
Pros: no leaks, good timer, comfort zone programming available, attractive design, no added filters needed Cons: not available in all stores
I've owned several different types of warm-mist humidifiers. The Honeywell HWM255 is outstanding, the best by far compared to other brands. The Honeywell doesn't leak when there's water left standing in it (which has been a MAJOR problem with other brands of mumidifiers I've tried). It can be programmed to shut off after either a period of time (1-10 hours) or after a certain level of humidity has been reached. The warm mist means no added expenses of filters. Really a top-notch product.
Finally a great humidifier by bullfeathers ,Dec 23 '04
Pros: Easy to fill, easy to operate, and works very well. Cons: It is heavy when filled, and display does not have a light
Have had several humidifiers and all of them have not worked well. The most recent one went to the trash bin on Monday. Looked at the reviews posted and decided on the Honeywell model HWM-255. The first night was great,as a matter of fact it stopped my wife from snoring. it increased the amount of humidity quickly, and did it quietly.
After a few weeks in service, it is doing great, but suggest cleaning about every third day in heavy use. We found a lot of cleaning to do if you wait more than 2 or 3 days.
Here it is the humid summers in Virgina. Do I use the humidifier? Yes! The humidity level in the house had dropped and with the heat pump running, I needed to add moisture to the bedroom. This unit continues to do the job very nicely.
great company with good product by Fritz57 ,Feb 27 '06
Pros: great company support, easy to use and works well. Cons: not built like a tank, but ....
we bought one of these a few years back. It's easy to use and built relatively well. It humidifies well. But it died after 3 years.
I contacted Kaz, the actual manufacturer. The asked me to ship it back and they would replace it NQA.
And so they did. My only cost was shipping the dead one back to Kaz. $6.
Maybe the first was defective, maybe we didn't clean it enough, but none the less, Kaz backs their product. That's a class act in my book.
Pros: will lead to better breathing Cons: weekly cleaning like all humidifiers
I've had this humidifier for over a year. Had great reviews in consumer reports and after doing my own research, I decided to purchase one. Works great. It can either be run on low, medium, or high or it can be temperature controlled. Easy to clean. Filters only need to be changed every 6 months to a year. Home depot sells the replacement filter for $19. I got it for $7.99 from a website called jr.com. Great product overall
Pros: Quiet and effective Cons: Rumor says maintenance is not much fun.
Quickly and quietly brought my 12x14 bedroom to a comfortable humidity level and maintained that level for 8 hours plus. It's very quiet and easy to use. I can't attest to its dependability or maintenance yet but so far it's doing its job well. Very happy with the $40 purchase.
