Pros: Still shot on SD card, night shot, auto light Cons: None so far. Just received it back from JVC per a recall.
I initially purchased this product 1 1/2 years ago to record my then 4 and 6 year olds. I chose the JVC GR-D72U because of the multitasking it could perform - if only marginally. I liked that it could record but also had a still shot feature that was ...

Pros: Feature packed, reasonable price, versatile. Cons: Hard to hold, poor battery life.
I did a bit of research before settling down to buy this camcorder. I got a fair deal from Best Buy at 341.00. Here are the only faults I have found so far: 1. Battery life is an hour or less. I bought a double capacity one and that problem is solved. ...

Watch out for the ES03 error
by testorama ,Apr 29 '05
Pros: Great low light performance for the price Cons: Chances of product being defective
I bought this camcorder because of its low light performance. It did have excellent low light performance - for the one day that it worked. It was bought brand new, yet the head needed cleaning immediately. I cleaned the head and used the camcorder a couple of times in different lighting situations. It did seem to record well, till I played it back on the TV. During playback it developed noise again. The manual recommended that I clean the head in such cases. I bought a head cleaning cassette and tried to clean the head. At this point the camcorder wouldn't play the head cleaning cassette at all. What I got was the infamous "ES03 UNIT IN SAFEGUARD MODE" displayed on the lcd. Luckily it was within the warranty, and I was able to return it.

Great Value Camcorder
by agentcisco ,Jun 12 '04
Pros: Small, great value, good features, better image then comparable models. Cons: Feels fragile, such as the buttons screen attachment, etc.
I just bought this cam, for the value...I didnt want to spend anything over $400.00. For the value its a great cam. Why? Cause I just re-sold another brand cam with similar specs because of the poor picture quality (i.e. grainy). But this JVC performed much better for a mini dv cam (i.e. less grainy). Its probably due to the F1.6 lens. But the low price shows in the feel of the cam. Its feels less expensive than say a $1000 JVC GR-DVP9. The buttons and screen attachments seems as though they are fragile. But hey, its NOT $1000!! I would recommend for those looking for a inexpensive value driven cam for home use.
