Superior Mouse Control

by Cope , Aug 23 '05
Pros: Comfortable and easy to use, with very precise control.
Cons: Impossible to use with left hand.
I have been using the various iterations of the Logitech Trackman for many years. These trackballs are extremely precise due to their optical tracking system: The balls have small dots on them, and an optical sensor tracks the movement of these dots. ...

I've now bought 3 of them.

by brill , Nov 10 '06
Pros: Hearty construction takes years worth of beatings and continues to work like new.
Cons: None. Its for real. None!
I am a graphic designer. My work demands that I have excellent input hardware that will take a beating and still function properly. A few years ago I was also a gamer on top of my regular graphic design routine. Needless to say, I spend a LOT of time at ...

Excellent Thumbed Trackball

by dkseeles , Jun 09 '04
Pros: Excellent build quality, excellent support, stylish looks, and works great!
Cons: None
I bought this Trackerball around 3-4 years ago, when I was starting to get wrist pains from using mice or glidepads all the time. I thought it was a little 'snazzy' for use at work (silver with a red LED), but the rest of the package seemed great, so I ...

Perfect for limited desktop space

by jasonmaxey , May 15 '06
Pros: Ergonomic design, accuracy, intuitive arrangement of controls, price
Cons: Semi-frequent cleaning
I purchased my Trackman when I finally got tired of having to move the other items I keep on my desk to give me room to move my mouse. I am amazed at how accurate this device is when it comes to anything I do on a regular basis. I am a gaming ...

Bar None, The Ultimate Pointing Device

by the_toecutter , Sep 15 '09
Pros: Accurate, comfortable, requires little space, price.
Cons: Hard to clean
I just purchased this newer version of the Logitech trackman. Prior to this one, I had an older version for 7 years! Using a computer on a daily basis is a testament to the longevity of that device. This newer version basically is the same except ...

A fantastic pointing device

by deathshell , May 15 '05
Pros: -Nice, Responsive Ball -Needs no configuring for basic features -Looks great
Cons: -A bit small
You could call me a computer “nut”. Enter my desktop, and you will see, from a distance, a desk, computer, monitor, keyboard and mouse. Get a little closer, and, on the monitor, you’ll see I’m running Linux. After that initial (small shock), try typing ...

Vast Improvement, and Clean Attractive Design

by gjax , May 21 '07
Pros: Excellent design improvements, easy to clean, responsive buttons.
Cons: Takes getting used to, only comes in gray.
When my father purchased our first Internet capable computer in 1999 he insisted on getting an ergonomic trackball instead of a mouse because of his carpel tunnel issues. It took me a while to get used to the trackball, but once I was familiar with it I ...

A Definite Good Buy

by nwambe , Feb 11 '06
Pros: Ergonomic, CHEAP, surprisingly well-built, precise operation.
Cons: Annoyingly sensitive right mouse button
I have had my Trackman Marble since December, and I must say that it is remarkably easy to use, and a wonderfully precise instrument. I have a laptop, and the touchpad, while good, gets annoying at times, to the point where I'm frustrated with it. I ...

Small Footprint.
800dpi Optical Tracking.

Cons:
Needs Cleaning.
Plastic Nodes Instead of Metal Bearings.

Not an ergonomic solution for me

by azielce , Dec 15 '06
Pros: Build quality, mouse shape, natural hand curl and positioning of the wrist
Cons: Thumb-actuated trackball kills the thumb muscles with unnatural motion
I work at the computer as part of my job. Recently I've been feeling pain in my wrist and palm using my mouse (Logitech MX1000) and have since been looking for an ergonomic solution. Websites and some coworkers have recommeded a trackball as solution, ...

Only mouse I use
by ihammes ,Feb 18 '06
Pros: Most comfort. Less cleaning. The best.
Cons: You PAY MORE for the best.
No more wrist pain. No more slamming the mouse on my desk to clear off the "fuzzies". I've been using the original for more than 4 years at home and just bought a new one for use at the office. Simple 3 button design with scroll wheel not crowded with useless extra buttons and gadgets. Larger palm print than competitors provides natural feel/comfort. USB-PS/2 adapter included. If you like thumb control, this is the mouse for you.

Why use a regular mouse?
by msmaltz ,Jun 18 '04
Pros: No need to move around.
Cons: Can't blame problems on the mouse.
I have used my Trackman for several years now and would not go back to a regular mouse by choice. I use it for both standard computer apps and for gaming. The system is responsive and uses much less desk space because you don't have to move it around.

The Trackman is also easy to clean. Just pop the ball out and wipe it out.

Very well worth the investment.

Should be on everyone's desk
by brian_manahan ,Jan 25 '07
Pros: Absolutely everything
Cons: Absolutely nothing
I got one of these about 7 years ago because of tight desk space. It took 2 or 3 days to get used to it, but there is no way I am ever going back. Every single computer in my house has one. The Trackman has probably saved my arm enough travel distance that you can measure it in MILES. Not to mention having to flex my wrist 1000 times a day.

In short: buy it. When you are old, you will thank yourself. Actually, in a week, you will thank yourself.
