Pros: Incredible sound and build quality. Cons: Most Marantz dealers are kind of snobbish.
Marantz has had a rather checkered past. They started out as an American maker of some of the finest hi-fi equipment money could buy. Later they were purchased by Superscope, who became part of Sony. Inevitably, the product was cheapened for more ...

Pros: Gorgeous sound, smooth and natural. Equipment does not get hot. Tons of connection. Cons: Component video and RCA video output poorly.
I absolutely love it. When I was first looking to replace my previous Onkyo receiver, I was looking into the Rotel RSX-1065 and Marantz 7400. I did listen to a Denon, but I don't really like the type of sound of a Denon or HK. It's a bit too colored for ...

Defective product--No support
by spiketuaz ,Jul 29 '05
Pros: By operating controls blindly I was able to get sound. Sound quality is excellent. Cons: Cannot use system in my home theater and am very unsatisfied with this experience.
My SR-6400 arrived with the display not working, and the on-screen menu system not working. Dealer has no interest in support, Marantz shows little interest.

best receiver ive herd
by jophuss36 ,Feb 13 '05
Pros: sound, build, looks, all the hook ups, price, everything!!! Cons: no video up conversion, not 7.1
i have compared the Marantz SR-6400 receiver to other receivers including Harmen kardon, denon, onkyo, jvc, sony, pioneer, technics, theater research (the worst out of them all) and yamaha. marantz has the best sound quality, it feels very well built 1 example of this is the volume control knob is not sloppy, it feels very tight. this is a true 100 watts, unlike most companies out there. the setup is very easy and actually kind of fun, because you know exactially what you are setting, and how it affects the sound. what else can i say an awsome receiver, and my dealer was very friendly to me. the4 only thing this receiver had was 7.1, and video up conversion in which the newer model that replaced this has. (sr 5500) but that model has 10 less watts so i went with the 6400 instead.
