Pros: Adequately dehumidifies, Easy to use controls Cons: Not As Energy Efficient As I Had Hoped
Occasionally, I write a review because I have a product that I figure could use reviewing, but that - frankly - there's not more than a page I can write on it. I've long discovered what one of the other reviewers jadedly described as the trick to ...
Pros: Build quality, moisture removal capacity, drain options. Cons: Consistency and accuracy of electronic controls.
Background I purchased this unit about a month ago and placed it in one of the 2 large rooms (about 550 sq.ft. each) in may finished basement. I was so impressed with it that I ended up buying a second one for the other room since the one ...
Pros: Dehumidifies; decent reservoir capacity Cons: Noisy; poor design and quality of a key part; worthless customer service
Short versionWorked well, but was noisy before fan blade assembly broke (which might have been the primary component of the noise). The warranty is worthless. Maytag customer service was no help at all, though they could have fixed ...
Pros: Easy filter removal. Dry air comes out top. 5yr warranty. Cons: Cycles too much. 5% readout increments. Fan speed setting defect.
After horrible reliability experiences with the 2003 Kenmore 70 pint, and after the replacement 2004 Kenmore 70 pint buzzed and rattled like junk, I purchased a Maytag 45 pint M7DH45B2A at Home Depot for $189. It's reasonably quiet, but there are a few ...
Pros: Logical, easy to use controls. Great hose connection. Well designed and solidly built. Cons: None, it's great!
I purchased a 65-pint Whirlpool AD65USM basement dehumidifier from Lowe’s. After two weeks, the unit made a grinding sound like the fan blade was hitting the case. Lowe’s gave me another unit. It ran 45 days and never shut off. With the stupid ...
Pros: 5yrWarranty, High capacity, digital displays for humidity/temperature, less bothersome noise than most, air filter. Cons: 5-year warranty is useless, Fedders wont send the replacement parts!
Customerassistance@maytagair.com gave incorrect information.
Updated 10/05/2007 The unit has not worked for over a year now, took it in to get fixed under that great 5 year warranty, and FEDDERS won't send the parts because they filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy. I got SCREWED! Never buy this Maytag junk again. ...
Pros: Easy to use, quiet, non-drilled drain connection, digital room temp/humidity readout Cons: None so far!
I’ve been through 3 dehumidifiers! Here’s my story: I decided we needed a dehumidifier for the basement. I went to Sears to buy the Kenmore 70-pint ( 54701 ) model. I liked it because it had a digital readout to show you exactly what humidity level ...
Pros: Quiet, easily connects to drain w/o damaging bucket, humidity readout Cons: None, I love this unit!
After dealing with a leaky Kenmore unit (returned it to Sears) I purchased this unit at Home Depot. I recognized it as very similar to another brand I had seen online for $100 more. What attracted me to it was: Can hook up a drain without damaging ...
Pros: QUIET, TOP AIR OUTLET, DUAL HUMIDITY DISPLAYS, ACCURATE, Cons: Had to go through several to get a good one
After all the fun listed below I finally did some research and decided to try this Maytag unit. Let my tell you it has performed flawlessly and seems to be quite accurate to say the least. It brought the humidity in my 1200SF basement from 50% to 40% in ...
Pros: Very well constructed Cons: Poor water removal
OK, I read all of the other reviews. To be flat honest, I’m not sure all of the ratings are written by actual users. I bought the Maytag M7DH65B2A, 65 pint, at Home Depot. I tested the unit in my basement with the following conditions: 8 hour test, ...

Pros: Digital read outs
Quiet
Effective Cons: no major ones
I bought this 65 pint dehumidifier about 2 months ago at Home Depot and am very happy with it. To me the best feature is the digital relative humidity setting and real time read out. I keep it at 55% which seems to be an effective compromise in moisture removal and energy prudence.
I've checked to see that there was at least relevance between the humidity read out and actual level by draping a sweaty tee shirt (after a run) and saw the level shoot up immediately from 55% to 80%. I also moved the dehumidifier around my basement and did not notice any jump in humidity levels indicating it was effective in my approximately 20ft x 30ft finished area of my basement.
The bucket requires some care in not spilling water when emptying and the machine tends to drip onto its base after removing the bucket itself. I got rid of this problem by a buying a 6ft hose (also at Home Depot) for about $7.00 and ran the connection to my sump, which has worked out very well. Lastly this machine is far more quiet than my previous one. I would highly recommend it!
worst dehumidifier ever by grodyfoster ,Sep 06 '03
Pros: looks nice Cons: can't withstand being used.
Purchased this to dry out my basement, blew out very hot air, never quite got the amount of humidity out the air I wanted and after a month of use the fan inside was cracked and blew plastic chunks all over the room.
Effective, but not very quiet by jgoldenboy ,Jul 08 '04
Pros: Effective and efficient, easy to use digital display Cons: Noisy, flimsy "float" breaks easily, long hold times for Maytag tech support.
I bought this Maytag at Home Depot. At $230 it was a splurge but I felt it would work well in my basement. The Maytag is easy to use. It has digital controls and readout that makes setting the humidity easy. Emptying the bucket is easy particularly since it has a handle. However, removing and replacing the bucket is a bit difficult and it is all to easy to break the plastic "float" in the process. One gripe I have is the noise. It has a LOUD fan on normal or high fan speed that can be intrusive. In a basement that is not occupied, it won't make a difference; but in a room that is "lived in" it will be obtrusive. If you are considering this unit, make sure you hear the noise level before final purchase. As for the "float" it is a flimsy plastic component in the bucket that tells the unit when the bucket is full. But it is too easy to break the "float's" hinge which is fragile. Maytag (actually Fedders) was happy to send me a replacement part, but the hold times for tech support can literally be a half hour or longer!
Maytag M7DH65B2A Stopped working by hanaw ,Nov 01 '05
Pros: Worked efficiently when it worked Cons: Stopped working after one year and Home Depot won't take it back.
Purchased at Home Depot in Spring, 2005. Dehumidifier stopped working in Fall, 2005. An appliance repairman friend noted the coils froze, and with the 5 year warranty we should return it. Well, tried to return at the same Home Depot where we bought it and they refused to take it back noting they no longer carry it!! Interesting that it's still available on their website, though! So now I'm stuck with a new $239 dehumidifier that doesn't work!
Maytag M7DH65B2A just stopped working by wormalert ,Feb 21 '07
Pros: Worked great for the 1 year. Did the job. Cons: Stopped working after 1 year of use.
The unit worked great for about 1 year and then just stopped working. We purchased it from Home Depot. They wouldn't help us. We had purchased a Kenmore unit 1 year earlier and wanted this second unit for our son's basement bedroom. The Kenmore is still going after 5 years and only had a 1 year warranty where the Maytag had a 5 year warranty. We purchased a Maytag for the reputation of reliability.
