Pros: attractive, bright, and inexpensive flat panel display Cons: small text appears slightly grainy at highest resolution
Having debuted in the United States in 2000, SVA-USA is hardly a household name. However, retail partnerships with the likes of Office Depot, Costco, Tweeter, and RCWilley have allowed the mass distribution of SVA's televisions, LCD monitors, and DVD ...
Pros: Resolution and brightness--huge pros. Flicker-free, no dead pixels, small footprint, sleek design. Cons: Tinny-sounding speakers, confusing on-board menu.
After several clunky, hot monitors had just about milked my large oak writing desk of actual writing space (you know--pencil-to-paper-style, not finger-to-keyboard), I found myself in the market for a flat panel monitor. Geesch, was I in for sticker ...
Pros: Crisper image than many LCD monitors, great contrast and resolution, great colors Cons: Viewing angle not the best, not "sleek," can't adjust screen position
This monitor model is a few years old now, and I've had mine for a couple years. It looks a little "old" because the border around the screen itself is much wider than on new models of comparable price, and you can get LCDs with a smaller footprint now ...
Pros: The buttons are in a nice location. Cons: Dead pixels, green lines on black background at startup, flimsy stand.
I got this monitor at office Depot. The local store had an in store special of $299 and I had a $25 off coupon, so I figured I had a good deal going, a 17" LCD monitor for $275. Brought it home, plugged it in, noticed several dead pixels right off the ...
Pros: Great monitor for the price. Nice colors. Cons: Got me down when I need it the most.
After the One year warranty was up, One year one month to be exact. I came home from work and the monitor was on stand by and I turned my computer on, the monitor started to come on then it went off. The green light stayed on but the monitor's back ...
Pros: Black bezel
Nice color reproduction
cheap Cons: Non existant support and warranty
No 800x600 with ATI cards
price equal to better monitors
This monitor is a piece of garbage. My wife picked one up for me (same $229 deal nov 2003)and it has caused me the most headaches of any monitor I have owned. Here is a list of reasons why you should not buy this monitor. 1. - Never can get in touch ...
Great Monitor For The Price! by jrgulliks ,Jun 16 '04
Pros: Well Priced, Professional Looking, Works Great! Cons: The volumne is quiet.
I bought this monitor about 3 months ago at Office Depot for approximately $350 and got back a $100 rebate. I have found it to be a very good monitor that is very compatible to my Sony Viao computer. So far, I have not experienced any problems with this flat panel monitor. It is the envy of several of my co-workers.
one of the best monitors on the market sure beats all the name brands. by mrdex ,Dec 27 '05
Pros: sleek, inexpensive, and state of the art.
The picture quality is great. Cons: Not too many stores carry this brand you must really shop around. Seems too cheap.
sleek,very sharp, and great resolution.
The price was under $200,too.
The way sva measures is a huge plus because a 17" is more like a 19".
A solid buy.
Shop around for sales and you will find.
Pros: Inexpensive, relatively good design, and space saving. Cons: Weak stand, constant screen fluctuation causing stain on eyes.
The screen is jittery and the color of the screen turns pink occasional when it is on. Don't know the reason why, but sometime you will loose your focus. Need to turn the screen on and off numerous times through out the day in order to correct the odd fluctuations.
Not compatible with popular video cards by hgmartin ,Jan 22 '04
Pros: Good picture Cons: Video card support
I bought this because after rebates it came to $225 at Office Depot. I figured if it was half decent it would be worth it and I could take it back if it was trash. It has a good bright picture that I like as much as my Princeton monitor. It had one dead pixel that does not bother me. The one problem is I cannot boot into save mood. I hooked my Princeton up to make sure I did not have a corrupted native windows driver, and I didn't, it booted fine using the Princeton. I emailed support and they said the monitor was not compatible with my video card at 640x 480. I have a Radeon 7500, not quite an off brand. What you get is a gray screen until it starts booting windows. I decided to keep it because the picture is decent and I have other monitors to hook-up if I need save mode. I have never had a monitor not boot in safe mode except for this one.
Ghosts even in a still image by zerozerohour ,Dec 18 '03
Pros: cheap price Cons: bad quality
I've never heard about the company SVA but they offered a great deal on thanksgiving sales. But I found that this monitor has a serious problem. You have to get used to live with ghosts when you do web surfacing, writing and so on. I'm not talking about playing a dazzling game or watching a fast-changing movie clip. The ghosts appear, if you look into careful enough, on the right side of bright-colored lines or characters when the background color is sort of gray. My eyes hurt, I returned it.
Pros: Plug and Play, no tweaking needed Cons: SVA doesn't make a 19"
I bought this monitor at Office Depot. I was late getting to the $350-$100 rebate sale, (sold out) so I took a chance on the display model. I couldn't be happier. No dead pixels. Bright w/ great blacks and contrast. I do a lot of photoshop and now digital video editing. 1024x768 is my resolution of choice. Print is sharp and easy on the eyes. The color is outstanding. Plug and play, I have not had to change anything. I use different HD's and OS's and this monitor works well with no tweaking needed. So bottom line, it was the first 17" LCD I had seen under $300 and at final price $249 it has proven to be a great bargain. I do not use and have not tried the speakers.
Pros: Great picture and auto adjustment feature. Cons: Speaker could put out a little better sound.
I bought this monitor at Office Depot the day after Thanksgiving for $229 after the rebate. A great price for this monitor. There was no problem installing the monitor and Win XP recognized it immediately. A great feature I haven't seen on other lcd monitors is the auto adjustment for the screen position. It does the auto adjustment with every boot and at various other times. The picture is really good and the colors nice and virbrant. The menu is a little confusing if you don't read the manual but no real problem. The speaker sound is not really great quality on this monitor but not worth going to the trouble of exchanging it for another one. All in all I'm extremely pleased.
