The Asus A7N8X Motherboard is the BEST for the Athlon XP Processor!

by surferdude7 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 10, Dec 17 '02
Pros: A fast and reliable motherboard for the Athon XP!
Cons: None
The Asus A7N8X Motherboard is the right step in performance for the AMD Athlon XP processors especially those with the 333 MHz bus. For performance it gives you support for DDR 400 memory in dual channels, an AGP slot for video cards of 8x and the 333...

by critic27 , Oct 31 '03
Pros: Fast, smooth-running, and affordable AMD nVidia2 chipset board; decent Asus support
Cons: Not for gamers, cannot be overclocked, no dual channel DDR.
This is the first AMD machine I've ever owned and I love it! (My prior machine was an Intel PIII). SPECS The processor is Socket A for AMD® Athlon™XP/Athlon™/Duron™ 600MHz ~ 3000+ and Thoroughbred/Barton core CPU ready. It has an NVIDIA® nFo ...

Asus A7N8X Motherboard: A turbo-charged, AMD powered engine.

by rice75 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, May 29 '03
Pros: Excellent performance, stable, loaded with features.
Cons: Nothing I can find.
The motherboard industry is fiercely competitive. High performance motherboards, such as the Asus A7N8X, are expensive to not only research and develop, but also to manufacture. The steps used to process them are very precise and tightly...

Pure, concentrated whoopass, now in motherboard form.

by Action_Snark , Jan 13 '03
Pros: Downright awesome in pretty much every category
Cons: Some features are ahead of their time
Well, the day finally came. The day when I decided that Verloc, my beloved Athlon based gaming box was getting a little long in the tooth. Morrowind stuttered, UT2K3 wheezed, and I fumed. I set out on a long trek through the muddy streets of internet...

One great motherboard for now and the future

by ethelred , Mar 28 '03
Pros: fully featured, fast and furious
Cons: None that I found
I build, repair and upgrade computer systems occasionally when friends or I need something done. My PC rarely has its covers on, but that’s another matter.

Recently I had two to build, and research let me to the A7N8X. With the ASUS name...

A Bad Trend with Mobo Makers

by nad_masters nad_masters is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Computer Hardware, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 100, Apr 02 '03
Pros: Feature-laden, stable at stock speeds
Cons: Cannot hit 200 MHz FSB, expensive, not Soundstorm-certified, NB voltage-starved.
After hearing about the insane speeds the Throughbred B Athlon XPs are hitting, I decided to get one. Unfortunately, my Gigabyte GA-7VRXP motherboard was only able to hit a FSB of only a mere 140 MHz. My Tbred B 1700+ was stuck at 1750 Mhz (2100+), and...

An excellent motherboard with a few (minor) caveats.

by pr0xy , Mar 26 '03
Pros: Fast, Stable, AGP 3.0, Dual Channel DDR.
Cons: Very little linux compatability.
This is a great board. The deluxe version (~ $140) boasts Serial ATA Raid, Dual Channel DDR400, dual LAN cards, 5.1 channel sound, Firewire, and one of the fastest 166Mhz FSB chipsets around. Asus has an excellent track record for stability and...

This is the best motherboard...
by coolrob_dt3000 ,Feb 18 '03
This is the best motherboard at the market. This motherboards have all that the chaintech zenith (except the dock, the overcloacking kit and the round cables) and it is cheaper. With doble ddr, 6.1 sound, ata 133 and to much other tings this is the right board for you to buy now if you are expecting to make a upgrade in one or two yaers.

Great Motherboard
by kinko ,Sep 17 '03
Pros: Good bus speeds and future processor support.
Cons: Audio/Lan drivers better from manufacturer rather than asus webpage.
Well, I bought this motherboard about three months ago. I am a fan of Asus motherboards and video cards. This one, being the third one that I have owned, is very stable. The dual channel memory buses make it great for gaming. 8x AGP , now a standard, is good for future video card buses. I use the integrated audio, however, the lan only works in windows, so I still use a PCI card for linux/unix use. The Audio has rich bass. This motherboard is definately a wise buy.

I'm, using this board with...
by d@ve77_dt3000 ,Mar 10 '03
I'm, using this board with XP1700 (T-Bred A) 512MB PC2700 Corsair XMS. I had the FSB at 211MHz, proc at 1789MHz, and memory at 422MHz stable. Only thing I don't like is core voltage maxed at 1.75, but I have only used XP1700, maybe other options show with a different CPU. This board also supports dual DDR, but I only have 1 stick of DDR so I cannot yet comment on that.
