Pros: Incredible accuracy, sharpness, robustness and quality, all in one digital body. Cons: Cost to buy and for some, weight.
Of late, I have concluded that I am perhaps one of the luckiest amateur photographers around. I say this because I was allowed to 'borrow' a Nikon D2X and use it for a weekend of photographic discovery. Having done so, I am, as a true fan of film, ...
Pros: just about everything Cons: Dust attractor, heavy, doesn't handle vibration well
When we first arrived in Korea, the boss took us out to Gyeongbukgung and toured us around snapping pictures with this very nice looking camera. I thought, hmm, while in Korea I must acquire a digital camera. Of course, this though was lost under an ...
Pros: Quality, speed, options, convenience and compatibility. Durable construction. 2 cameras in one. Cons: The price and poorly designed switches.
It's about time Nikon produced a camera capable of producing professional level image sizes. Canon had them long ago and they're working on their third-generation of 11 megapixel plus cameras. Now that Nikon has finally made one, let's hope they don't ...
Pros: Terrific photo quality, speed and flexibility. Unmatched tonal rendition. Cons: It doesn't have a built in printer. Hmmm.... can't think of anything else!
The Nikon D2X is the digital camera I've been waiting for since digital photography got going about a decade ago. Is anyone in the market for about three darkrooms worth of film based color processing equipment? Mine will be gone soon. I was ...
Pros: Quick, responsive, menu is easy to navigate, high-speed crop mode comes in handy Cons: High noise levels when using higher ISO's and darker scenes.
Before upgrading to the D300s, I used the D2x to take and sell nature and wildlife photographs, and as long as I kept the ISO at 400 or below, I was very happy with it. After using the D70, D2H, and D2Hs, I finally was able to purchase a used D2X from a ...
The best camera Nikon has made to date by christos_2006 ,Mar 21 '06
Pros: Everything Cons: Cost
What can I say about this camera? It is a work of art, its magnificent and Nikon has done it. I use this camera for wedding work and it is truly a work horse.
Pros: Great pictures! Cons: It is expensive, bulky and heavy but damn the pictures are good!
Finally digital has reached the point where it rivals good film. The earlier reviews say it all except I would add that this is the 1st digital that produces images that need very little tweaking if any in photoshop. They don't have that flat quality so typical of many digitals. It excels in color grading (dynamics range), great autofocus (truly), and in automatic mode an unbeatable exposure control. As a professional I can find ways to improve the results, but the camera does terribly well on its own.
A fine camera, wonderful handling and great ergonomics. by tomlianza ,Aug 24 '05
Pros: Great imaging, Great handling and very fast focus. A joy to use in the field Cons: Setting custom settings can be complex
I've used Nikon cameras for approximately 40 years. I typically use an F100 (film based), N80. I also have the D100. The D2x is in a class by itself. The image quality is very high for a digital. What I really appreciate about this camera is the handling and the ergonomic placement of the controls. I took it out of the box and just started using, no instructions needed. The ISO, White Balance and Quality level are grouped and easy to see. The view finder presents all this information on the right side of the field. I found that this is extremely helpful, especially when you are using the camera in many different ambient conditions. With the D100 I often forgot that I had previously set the ISO to a very high level and the white balance to tungsten, You see it immediately in the view finder and it minimizes problems like that. The camera is customizable, much like Nikon's analog machines. The depth of field button is very welcome. If you are seasoned Nikon shooter, you can use this camera immediately with excellent results. This is a great camera.
