I received the Old Fashioned Movie Time Popcorn Maker as a gift for Christmas this year. This is a hot air popcorn popper that resembles those of the late 1800's and early 1900's. Not really sure how much they cost, but I can tell you that they are ...
Pros: None. Looks are NOT enough. Cons: It simply did not pop the corn well.
I received this unit as a gift. Thank goodness, because I would be real mad if I wasted my own money. I am a long time popcorn popping fan, and I've used other hot air popcorn devices for many years. There's not much high tech thinking that goes into ...
Pros: Would make an excellent weapon, maybe!! Cons: Too expensive, hard to use
I work at a store that sells kitchen supplies and one day the manager decided to try one of these things out. I don't think I have ever seen a kitchen appliance that was as hard to use as this one! It is not worth the time, money, or effort to use one...
Pros: Very easy to make Cons: Leaves many unpopped kernels
This is a machine that any popcorn lover should have. It is very easy to use and definetly makes good popcorn. I got this off ebay and got it used and it still works just great. I think that it is very easy to use, all you have to do is pour in the...
Pros: Very nice nostalgic look. Cons: Could not get the machine to pop any corn.
I purchased this popcorn maker at Macy's because I have a 2 and a half year old daughter who loves popcorn and this unit looked really nice. Unfortunately, the good parts of this machine ends with the look. After purchasing the unit we went out and ...
Pros: It looks nice. Cons: Many unpopped kernels come out the shoot and then pop in the bowl.
I received this as a gift. Do NOT purchase this product.
Many un-popped kernels come out the shoot and then pop
once they hit the bowl (or table) then they fly across
the room. You must have a broom handy as they scatter across the...
Pros: Very cool in appearance Cons: Lots of unpopped kernels; cannot fit large bowl under spout
While nice to look it, this popper perfomed poorly. It left a LOT of unpoppsd kernels. Unlike other hot air poppers, you can only put a small amount of kernels in the popper, so the amount of popped popcorn is less that what you can get from other...
Pros: There are no pros. Cons: It can hurt someone!
We got this popcorn maker for Christmas because we thought our kids would really love it! My son is 3 and my daughter is over 1 year old. They both love popcorn and it is their favorite snack. My son was so excited that he wanted to pop some on ...
Pros: It looks nice. Cons: it doesn't pop right and it is dangerous.
This popcorn maker does not pop half the corn. It is almost impossible to measure the pop corn perfect. But you have to if there are few to many kernels it won't pop right if there are too many kernels it will burn they should tell you to count the...
Pros: Old-Fashioned Styling Cons: Due to design, LOTS of old maids
I was initially suckered into buying this popcorn popper because of its old-fashioned styling. I have had previous experience with air poppers and wasn't impressed, but thought that perhaps there had been big jumps in technology to improve the mechanics...
Pros: Easy to use. Cons: Bowl cannot sit near machine due to wheels. Overheats and stops working.
Recieved this as a gift.
Made a great bowl of popcorn the first time I used it. I underfilled it a bit, and as the directions had warned, a few unpopped kernels were blown out of the machine ahead of time.
Pros: It looks great Cons: It leaves way too many kernels unpopped
My wife and I bought this popcorn popper as a housewarming gift to ourselves, thinking our kids would love to see it out and to have good popcorn once in awhile.
It looks great, sitting out on the counter. We leave it there all the time.
However, it doesn't pop well. Once the popcorn starts flowing, it gushes... along with a lot of unpopped kernels. It left unpopped at least half of the kernels put into it.
The last (and I do mean last) time we used it, it first burned the popcorn and didn't spit it out. Then, after cooling it and trying again, it made the popcorn okay but then the blower sped up alarmingly, and then the interior started glowing red. I unplugged it quickly before it had a chance to do anything worse. I wish I'd saved the original box and receipt.
Pros: Attractively designed, Cooks popcorn quickly, easy and quick to clean Cons: Noisy, doesn't cook all of the popcorn, housing gets very hot during operation
This machine is attractively designed and is a fun little kit. However, like many have already said, the unit stresses form over function.
The machine gets very hot when working. Even after shutting the unit off, I have burned my hand on the "glass" windows on the side of the machine.
I have the same problems that everyone else seems to have with uncooked kernels. Dozens come out and they usually don't make it to the bowl--but make their way to the floors...and boy are they hot to pick up!
It worked great the first time I used it, but all other subsequent times have resulted in hot uncooked kernels being shot out of the machine. I suspect this is due to the fact that the unit is not designed to kick uncooked kernels back into the chamber but allows them to come out of the chute instead.
I'd recommend this unit as a novelty gift. If you're serious about popcorn, then this machine is not for you. But if you enjoy the look of old-time machines and the taste of air-popped popcorn, then this machine is pretty cool! It cooks the popcorn very quickly.
Pros: Very easy to use. Uses hot air.Pops most seeds. Cons: Does not pop every single seed.
I bought this popcorn maker because it looked cool and it uses hot air. It does a great job by popping almost every corn. It is VERY easy to use you just put in the popcorn seeds and turn it on and before you know it you have a bowl of popcorn. Like I said this popcorn maker uses hot air so it is safer than using the popcorn makers that use oil.My advice is if you want a good hot air popcorn maker than buy this one.
