Terrific, full function product

Pros: Terrific, full function, huge capacity hard drive (HDD), great Panasonic 1-800 telephone support
Cons: hard finding something negative - takes some patience to master but it is worth it!
I bought the DMR-E100h online at VANNS for $799 total with no shipping or tax. The recorder is terrific. The Panasonic support line has been outstanding. It took takes some time to try and master all the recording function but it is worth it. I am able to record movies on the 129GB hard drive and then copy (they call it dubbing) it to a DVD-R. I am delighted with the product and with VANNS (I caught them with the lowest price I have seen for this).

I made huge mistake buying this recorder

Pros: it records dvds
Cons: editing and compatibility
Panasonic is claiming that this product offers high compatibility and advanced editing possibilities but it does not say that you can have one OR another.
If you would like to use various editing functions and edit your DVD after recording you have to use RAM standard - and you will be unable to play it in any DVD player (I tried many).
On the other hand if you would like to watch your recordings on any other DVD player you have to use DVD - R standard and you will not be able to make any editing at all.
I must say I feel cheated.
A friend of mine owns a DVD + RW recorder and he have both various editing functions and compatibility at the same time - I am so jealous
