Pros: Good range Cons: Cheap batteries, less-than-expected functionality
I'm a big fan of Panasonic. Their products are well designed and well built. That's probably why the KX-TG5100 5.8 GHz phone system was a disappointment. First problem: Sound quality. Memory chips are inexpensive, but Panasonic saved money by putting ...
Pros: Panasonic brand, many features, hi-tech look, intercom, 3 mail box answering system, caller list Cons: NiCad battery, recording music on answering machine message, price($199)
As far as I know, this phone system has it all. I have never owned a cordless phone before or had caller id, so I got this phone system($199) an a third handset($69) for Christmas. With my set up I basically have 4 phones in the house, 1 base unit and ...
Pros: Lots of features. Cons: Ridiculous quiet sound output, bad mic, poor talk feedback.
I have to say, overall I am unhappy with the Panasonic. IT does sport many features I wanted: 5.8 GhZ so my wireless computer network remains unmolested, room to expand to up to 7 handseets (with headphone jacks), intercom capability, answering machine ...
Pros: Easy to use, flexible, and Panasonic quality. Cons: Pricey, but well worth it.
Bought this phone 2 weeks ago and so far I am very pleased. I am a professional in the business telecommunications field specializing in Key and PBX system design. I am currently using the KXTG5110 at my home however, I have tested it via analog connectio ...
Pros: Performance, built-in speaker phone in each hand set (great option), great sound, and nice features. Cons: No clock in hand sets. NiCad batteries. One line only.
If you're looking to buy a really nice and an honestly good 5.8GHz system with some very nice features, then seriously consider this one if you don't mind the price. Bought the system a few weeks ago with 2 extra hand sets for a total of 4 hand sets. A ...
When I read the features of this phone I was very impressed. Cordless, 5.8 GHz, intercom, monitor, hands-free speaker phone one the handsetsvery cool stuff. All these lovely features AND I could use it to monitor my baby girl. I purchased the ...
I bought this phone about 2 years ago and it's been working very well for me overall. It's got good range, good features (answering machine, intercom, Great Speakerphone, etc) but when the batteries start to go, the phone goes to crap. At first I thought the handset itself was messed up - it would randomly drop a call and restart, or continuously reset, or just not keep a charge. I found some batteries online for about $5 apiece and all the problems disappeared. For about another 9-12 months that is, until I needed a new battery. So this time I'll just buy a few battery backups - because the phone works well when it's got a good battery.

Pros: Panasonic is a company that STINKS. I bought a full package that STINKS. Cons: And they would give no support.
I bought the full package panasonic KX-TG5110 base set with 3 portable phones to use around my house and ranch. Do not make the mistake I did. After 6 months the batteries in all 3 phones gave out. So I replaced them but now the displays do not work on the base set or any of the handphones. I contacted panasonic (what a loser company) and they said "sorry". Too bad a loser comapny like Panasonic does not review this feedback to know what kind of CRAP they put on the market. I am a corporate executive who has to stay in touch realtime. I ask anyone who is in interested in this product to shop elsewhere and probably avoid panasonic all together. Their products are CRAP and their customer service is worse.
Manufacturing Defect in Answering Machine by acu-rate ,Jul 19 '06
Pros: Clarity and range of phone. Cons: Apparent answering machine design defect causes recording to shut down in middle of a message.
This is the only cordless phone that I have found that works inside and outside of my house without breaking up. The answering machine part of the system, however, is bad news. I'm on my third KX-TG5110M phone, and it has the same problem as the two phones I took back--the answering machine design apparently is defective. On all three units, the machine unpredictably and abruptly cuts off a person trying to leave a message before they have finished. This sometimes occurs within 30 seconds, even when there are no other messages in the mail box and the recording time per message is programmed at 3 minutes. I called Panasonic support, but they couldn't tell me why this problem was occurring or how to fix it. It seems awfully coincidental that the same problem popped up on all three units; therefore, I must conclude that it's a manufacturing defect.
Pros: Excellent quality, well made, great answering machine. Cons: First unit purchased had defective handset. Easily exchanged.
This is a great phone ... worth the money. The answering machine is phone company quality so I canceled my voice mail and am saving $10.00 / mo.
Sound quality excellent, even on speaker. Speaker capability in base unit as well as handsets. Lots of bells and whistles but easy to learn and use. No interference with wireless network.
Panasonic writes most of these good reviews, do not believe them by patrick96 ,Jun 21 '07
Pros: None. What good are features if the phone does not work? Cons: Customer service, Batterys, Range limitations, Poor to Non Existent Warranty, Technical support.
Purchased a base unit and additional four handsets. All of the phones began to have problems within months. Technical support was rude and poorly trained. Suggested battery replacements for all phones as the answer, some lasted less than one week. All of the phones overheated and quit working inside of one year. Customer service would not replace the phones with new, only used phones. Customer service demands that you pay for shipping and send your phones in first before they will be nice enough to send you used phones for a replacement, simply a joke! You would be smarter to flush your money down the toilet than purchase these phones from Panasonic.
All HYPE! HOW MANY REVIEWERS ARE PANOSONIC PAY-ROLLERS? by mohc_98 ,Mar 26 '04
Pros: Good looking design. All the bells and whistles! Cons: High Price; Obsolete battery technology; poor signal quality at times.
The Panosonic KX-TG5110M Cordless Phone looks pretty but did not fulfill my expectations of a cordless phone in that high price range. My biggest complaint is that well within 10 yards from the base unit the phone drops off on its signal strength where you become inaudible from the receiving end or it sounds like you are underwater. Also the proprietary battery is of the older technology, NI-CAD,which takes 6 hours to fully charge! Old batteries require special handling in most municipalities to discard. The replacement battery carries the hefty price of $21.99 on-line. I don't know where your other reviewers are getting their information from but the negatives on this phone far outweighs the positives. Junk!
Handsets Break Down Over Time by nedrob ,Jul 03 '04
Pros: Sound quality, range, intercom features Cons: Display breaks down quickly, poor battery life.
This seemed like a great system for the first 6 months, great sound quality, great range, nice set of features. Then the display on 2 out of 5 handsets went bad with only the backlight visible. In the last week, another display has gone bad. I also have to replace the batteries on all 5 now since they will no longer keep the charge for more than 20 minutes of talk time.
Overall, I am going to throw the system away and it is not even a year old.
