Pros: Small! Very reasonable price! Big natural sound! Real bass is smooth! Attractive well built cabinets! Cons: Bass is not extended into lower regions. Other comparable speakers attain slightly better Power Handling.
Alright...I admit it!....I am absolutely seduced by the sound of small speakers! I find the commonly found larger than life crossover abundant boxes filled with the typical 8" to 12" woofers coupled with slightly smaller midrange drivers and even ...
Pros: Quality material, flat frequency response, five-way binding posts, reasonable price. Cons: Non-removable grilles, magnetic shielding extra, can be hard to find.
First of all, I would like to point out that in spite of the category which Epinions has put these speakers, Atoms are not floorstanding speakers. If you know very much about speakers at all, you know that floorstanding speakers are large, tower-like ...
Pros: Sounds Good, Looks Good, Durable, Paradigm Quality Cons: Flat low Range, Audibly Worse Than The Titan
Through my nights of going from store to store trying out speakers, I stumbled upon a store that sells Paradigm speakers. I haven't seen these in too many places, so I decided to check out the selection. Through epinions.com and a job that I'll hopefully...
Pros: VERY low cost, excellent performance, and surprising bass response. Cons: Destroys your perception of the value you got for your "main system" speakers.
I bought these last Christmas for my daughter (who will go to college next fall). She wanted a small bookshelf audio system for her dorm room, but not a boom-box. Well, what self-respecting dad wouldn't take that challenge and up it a little. I had no...
Paradigm has been a favorite of mine for a long time. In a "past life" I was a home theater designer and installer for a local retailer. We almost exclusively used Paradigm speakers unless a customer was adamant about wanting a specific brand. The reason...
Pros: Very well-balanced sound, excellent midrange, high value Cons: A bit light on bass, but understandable given the size & price constraints
I've been an audiophile for most of 25 years. I have a set of 4 test CDs that I use to audition new equipment, but most of the time they are used on high-end, expensive gear. However I was in the market for a small bedroom system and so took a listen...
Pros: Excellent value for a small bookshelf speaker Cons: A little bit large for a surround for space-minded folk
About a year ago, I decided to upgrade my system to full Dolby digital surround sound. This was largely due to purchase of a DVD player - I wanted to hear my surround channel in all its' perceived glory. My first (and still in use) pair of...
Pros: Amazing sound that compares with the best speakers on the market at a great price. Cons: Hard to find. No magnetic shielding. Non-removable grills. Light bass.
A friend told me about paradigm speakers. I did some research on the Internet and found hoards of other people who loved nearly every speaker in their lineup. And the greatest compliments came from true audiophiles who have listened to very high priced...
Pros: Cheap! Great sound rivaling speakers costing more Cons: Umm....at this Price?
The Paradigm Atom is the second from the bottom in Paradigm's Performance line of loudspeakers. The Atom has a Vifa made 3/4" CMC (Cermanic-Metal Composite) tweeter crossed-over to a 5 1/4" poly woofer. The woofer is made in house by Paradigm...
Pros: Sound for the money Cons: Needs good speaker stands
A lot of people might dismiss this speaker just because of the cost or the size. This can accurately be described as a "budget audiophile" speaker. Why, you ask? Part of this is because of how well this speaker is able to disappear when you...
Pros: Loud, looks fine Cons: Loud enough to fry it's own wires, main cone split
Welcome readers, this Paradigm Performance Atom speaker is not all it's cracked up to be. After reading about the speaker, I came to the conclusion that it is a good audio product to own...and own it I did. Unfortunately, after I hooked it up to my...
Pros: Excellent soundstage, imaging and clarity Cons: None, except too cheaply priced to be true :-) Too bad for Paradigm
Great Price, Paradigm quality.
After listening to Bose speakers for a year, I decided to walk into a high-end audio store with a fairly limited budget. Realizing my predicament (good sound for not a whole lot of money), the sales person...
Pros: Price, Quality, Looks. Cons: Nothing for the price
Paradigm has been around for a long time but havent been very popular but the popularity is on the rise. These speakers do everything you need. I have 5 connected to my dolby digital reciever they sound beautiful when watching movies or listening to CDs....
Great speakers, on their own or as surrounds by km21 ,Jan 07 '04
Pros: Outstanding - get a few pair for those extra rooms. Cons: None given the price.
I have these as the three back channels in a 6.1 channel theater system (Paradigm Monitors in the front) and also as a pair in my small office powered by a 50 wpc Onkyo receiver.
I listened to these because Stereophile really likes them for the price and I can see why.
These are very easy to listen to - for this small office I can turn them as loud as I care to listen and they don't seem strained at all. Wonderful clarity - excellent high and mid frequency response, good bass for their size.
In the theater room setup, they work wonderfully and are a great deal. Since they are so low cost, I could spend more on the front channel speakers, and that will reap many rewards.
