Pros: Inexpensive, intuitive, good battery life, good LCD. Cons: MP3 software is clunky, earbuds hurt after time, may not be enough memory for some.
I really enjoy my player. The 64mb of memory gives me, on average, one hour of music at 192kbps. The player's memory is expandable using SDD memory cards but I haven't tried doing this. The player uses regular or NiMH AA batteries. Using the ...

Pros: Great display, excellent battery life, expandable memory Cons: Befuddling menu system, cheesy on/off button, inconvenient case
Previously I owned a Nomad IIc which was stolen. I had been looking for a replacement and had several requirements. I wanted an mp3 player that was relatively small, that had expandable memory, that had good battery life and a player that had an easily...
Pros: 20-30 hours of playtime
Upgradeable to 576mb
Supports playlists
Lightweight and compact
Skip free Cons: Difficult to use playlists
Uses USB 1.1
Software not very intuitive
I purchased my Rio S10 on eBay for a total of $30. I then purchased a 256mb SD card for $30. So, for a total of $60, I had a hip, compact, lightweight, skip-free, 320mb MP3/WMA player (well, actually, it's only about 315mb, but still!), which translates ...
Pros: Compact/storage option, compatible software. BBB complaint brought results. Replaced with better unit 2x storage. Cons: Unit broke after 90-days. Poor/rude CSR support. BBB/higher authority worked replacement. Support department improved now.
UPDATE! The week prior to 9/29/04, I had given up hope of any recourse with Digital Networks North America, better known as the Rio Company and/or SonicBlue. The Better Business Bureau mailed a notice stating they had been unable to get any ...
Pros: Compact, offers everything you need, excellent sound quality, upgradeable, user friendly Cons: uncomfortable ear buds, memory card not compatible with back cover and batteries
I received the Rio S10 for Christmas two years and I immediately loved it. I have had nary a problem with it either. The size is perfect, small and unobtrusive, easily clipped to shorts or put in a pocket. It offers all the things you need: playlist, ...
Pros: Easy to use, long battery life, awesome display, SD and MMC cards, durable. Cons: None
I love this player! I have had mine for a year now and it is one of the more worthwhile purchases I have made. It is so convenient and I love finally having digital music that doesn't skip, I knew we would finally get rid of the bs anti-skip cd ...
Pros: VERY light, long battery, my very first MP3 player Cons: Odd on/off switch, hard to touch volume controls while running, no play list
I am a person who prone NOT to read the owners manuels on anything. Without consulting any documentation at all, I was about to figure out how to use this thing with great ease. It uploads music very fast. It took me about 2 minutes to upload 16 songs ...
Pros: Lightweight, easy to use, long battery life, cool case!! Cons: Weak on/off switch
I was a little iffy at first to purchase a RIO MP3 player due to all the negative reviews on some of their older, lower end models. However, after a few hours of comparing pricing and specs of other MP3 players in the same price range, it seemed the RIO S ...
Pros: small, case is odd but protective, display is perfect size, and easy yo use
Cons: low memory but that can be fixed
This MP3 player rocks. So far I've had no issues. 64mb is a little skimpy but the sound quality is good so you can download a converter (I use Audio Slimmer form download.com) and convert your songs to WMA and a lower bitrate, yet still maintain good...
Pros: Easy to Use, Easy to Upgrade Memory. File transfer is a snap Cons: Cannot use as memory storage device. Does not have FM capabilities.
The Rio S10 is a good MP3 player. I just bought it for my wife for her birthday. She didn't know she wanted one, but now that she has it, she won't take it off. The best thing I have found with this MP3 player is the ease of transferring music from ...
Pros: very good ,lighted display. Advertised as 35 hours on one battery, good sound. Protective case. Cons: Not many but read my review.
Kinda fragile?
I brought two refurbished S10 through Ebay, which I'd reccomend you do. The first one I lost....the second one I brought refurbished. The seller (Sonicblue), says there is a 90 day limitied warranty on this product. I've had it for thirty days plus. The...
Rio S10- Not A Good Choice! by mara_brook ,Jan 04 '07
Pros: Sound is Great
Comes with Nice Protective Case
Light-up Screen Cons: Holds Very few Songs,
Didn't Work Properly &
Has Cheap Design (in my opinion)
Excited? Not for long!
When I first received this mp3 player, I was very excited. However, this didn't last long at all.
Cheap Looking
In my opinion it has a cheap design. A nice little screen- yea, but the plastic look, and thickness could use an upgrade. Don't count on it fitting very well into your back pocket!
Only 12 songs? COME ON!
I was upset that it only held about 12 of my favorite songs- still, I only like about 12 songs anyway, so I wasn't devastated...
Until the real bad stuff started!
After only a couple months of owning the Rio S10, it started having some type of glitch, and it became a pain to use, as I could hardly ever get it to work. I was and still am very disappointed!
Don't Buy!
Personally, I would not recommend this item to anyone. There are a lot better mp3 players out there nowadays! ;)
Pros: Has a stopwatch installed, and lots of options. Cons: No playlists, but that's O.K.
I strongly recommend this MP3 player. Comes with awesome case with clip, earphones, and software. I am very satisfied with my purchase. The service was good along with order tracking. Again, I strongly recommend this player.

Pros: Light weight, very easy to use, goes anywhere, can change my music. Cons: Comes with free trial to emusic.com. Don't even bother. No "good" music to offer.
So easy to use you don't even need the read the instructions. Screen is easy to read and displays lots of information. Very light. Can't even tell I'm wearing it. I love that I can change my music selection at any time. I take it with me every where. I love my Sonic Blue.
Not quite as good as I wrote at first by dblanddbland ,May 14 '04
Pros: Price, features Cons: Problems with bookmarks, lousy tech support.
I wrote a fairly glowing review in May. I've been using it a lot for over a month and must report two reservations. The bookmarks sometime get confused. Understand that I don't use this for music, I use it for recorded audio off of internet radio programs. My typical "track" is over 30 min long. Anyway, I find that sometimes, if I have 3 bookmarks, it actually appears to lose all references to what's on my SD card (which is 256mb)! In other words, it's as though I don't have an SD card. This problem is somewhat intermitten and may occur only whe I've deleted and added several files.
It turns out that I can get everything back by going into the "play music" option and selecting "play all" or sometimes "play tracks". But just skipping throught the recordings using the main navigation disk does not find the "missing" items.
When I called their tech support all they did was waste my time. I actually knew more about how the S10 worked than they did. And yes, I do have the most up to date software.
There are problems withthis Mp3 player. by just-ice ,May 03 '04
Pros: Great features, light weight, can survive sevear impacts with case on. Cons: EXTREMLY little storage for mp3.
This is the first mp3 player i've ever had. It looked good at first but after a little while i found a major problem. It can only hold 15 songs max!!!!! Thats nothing compared to every other mp3 player. Also the mp3 format is outdated. The menue is very good and the info that it displays about the song is also good. I woulden't use this mp3 player on a long trip though because you will get tired of listening to the same 15 songs over and over again. But it does rule in one thing. You can smash this thing against the wall wall and nothing will hapen. So it is good for going places that are perolouse to most electronics. Oh ya....i've had it for a year and a haff. No problems so far.
You Cant Go Wrong w/ This Budget Mp3 by goldnleaf ,May 29 '04
Pros: Simple , great sound, great battery life
cool and compact design. Protective case included. Cons: Sub-par headphones.
Heres what you do. Search for this Player on Ebay- got mine for about 40.00 - Purchase a 256sd or 512sd card. (about 40.00
or 100.00 for the 512sd) and add a pair of altec lansing headphones AHP212 (about $14.00 from office max).
And for under $100.00 or $150.00(with 512sd) you have a awesome mp3 player that holds plenty of music, sounds great,
simple to use, and is perfectly designed to go anywhere.
Perfect for frequent flyers, the beach, or anywhere. Hook it
up to your home stereo, and never get up to change a CD again.
Pros: Tough and durable. light. protective case. easy to use. great sound. Cons: The software included isn't that great.
I carefully looked at all of the players on the market and realized that many can't take extra memory. The Rio S10 sells for a low price and you can add a 512 meg card bought separately and save a fortune. It comes with a really solid casing and a padded overskin with belt clip. The display is good. The batteries last forever! It sounds great. It includes a stopwatch. You can't go wrong with this one.
So far so good. Had since 12/01/02. Got burned on RioOne (32 MB); it was horrible, kept shutting off and skipping during play.
S10 was given by SB as a make-up on their part. Carrying case is very small and fits easily on shorts or can be easily carried by hand. May have to buy different headphones. Plays well, very loud, no problems so far.
I went back and forth... by joe_s_dt3000 ,Jan 15 '03
I went back and forth trying to select my first MP3 player. There are so many out there right now. The features I looked for was a player that used AA batteries since I have MiMH batteries and charger. It also play 30 hours on 1 battery. This player has met all my expectations. I highly recommend it.
I did a little research I am happy with the S10. I got about 24 songs with the 64mb that comes with it and just ordered the 128mb memory.
This is good for a few hours of music for the lighter end of the Mp3/CD music lover.
Software was easy to work on XP and the upload was quick. Just get it!
Oh, it has a belt clip to boot.
I think this is a great durable Mp3 player. It has easy software. I did'nt think that the loudness of the player was loud enough though. Compared to my other Mp3 player this is a dream. I totally recomend this Mp3 player.
Easy too use and transport songs too and from, good for active people i personally use it while riding my bike which invoves jumps or quick movements no sutable for cd players.
this is the best mp3... by sarah_dt3000 ,Feb 17 '03
this is the best mp3 player out there and i strongly recomend it! you have enough memory to download up to 10 songs. the battery last very long. it is very easy to carry around. i had all my songs downloaded onto it with in a half an hour! this mp3 player is definetly the way to go! good luck!
The RIO S10 seems to be an excellent piece of equipment. The software was a breeze to install as was the connections from the computer to the MP3 player. The lightweight S10 immediately connected up and was ready to download. It took appox. 1 minute to download 47MG of MP3s. I was able to change the music information, choose and / or listen to the music right from the Music Manger and the battery life is as advertised. The Rio S10 comes standard with headphones, a dinky little belt clip/carrying case, and a single double A (AA) battery. I was not expecting a lot of features from this product and was not disappointed. I would have liked an armband attachment, but other than that the Rio S10 has everything I needed in order to listen to my MP3s while I workout.
I liked this small mp3 player. It was easy to install and easy to download onto. I was amazed however that after downloading 6 songs the memory was almost halfway gone. I thought it was a mistake but it was truth. The memory was to small. I couldnt even fit 1 cd onto it. I returned it and got a cd player instead. I would not recommend this to anyone that likes more than 20 songs on an mp3 player.
i htink this is a good mp3 player because it shows the time and also shows the name of the song on the mp3 player its self and very good sound quilty. Also the mp3 player gives u good free memory that is bulit into the mp3 player. It also has a nice carrying case and nice head phones. I think i would recomend this protect to a friend cause i think it is the best mp3 player in the world
