Pros: Pure agave, reposado, yet at AFFORDABLE prices... Cons: Purists will still head to the artesanal tequilas...
Good stuff! That's what I think of Sauza Hornitos....good stuff. This is a genuine tequila for one thing. It's not one of the myriad mainstream brands that cut every corner possible in order to maximize profits while still (barely) staying ...
Pros: An affordable 100% agave tequila that mixes and sips better than a mixto... Cons: ...but has a coarse flavor not reminiscent of tequila, agave, nor anything worthwhile!
Tequila in its purest form is a noble spirit worthy of world class status. Because of dishonest marketing, impurities in the cheap brands and general lack of knowledge it sadly remains underappreciated despite its recent upswing in consumption. It is ...
Pros: A honest agave feel, excellent herbal touches. Cons: Too dry for a great reposado, sometimes mutates into a mixto.
Like those bad terror movies from the 60´s, Sauza Hornitos is out of its lethargic, near-death state to, once again jump into the spot light of the "best reposado" arena, and claim that long-gone glory it enjoyed more than 30 years ago for so long, but ...
Pros: Price Cons: Not a quality product more oriented to volume sales
Sauza
The connoisseurs of tequila call it “Baygon Verde” which is an insect killer very well known in Mexico, I would not be so drastic and describe a little more objectively this tequila.
Pros: Better than the Sauza/Corona mixtos. Cons: harsh, like eating a peppercorn, tastes medicinal/chemical.
I have sampled over thirty 100% agave tequilas and Sauza Hornitos is easily the worst of the lot. If you only ever had rail tequila (Cuervo, Sauza, Montezuma, etc) then this tequila may taste okay, but it's NOT a good tequila overall. Think of it as...
Pros: 100% Agave, Great Value & Consistent Quality Cons: Some people will waste it in slush puppys
Hornitos is a remarkably good tequila. It is exactly what I look for in a reposado. Nicely balanced flavors that have mellowed just a bit. It retains a very strong Agave flavor that blends well with fresh citrus. Earlier this year I tried different...
Pros: !00% blue agave, inexpensive Cons: there are better tequilas
Sauza Hornitos tequila is a drink you can't go wrong with. For those who like margaritas, the sweet taste of this 100 % Blue Agave tequila will put a delightful twist on the regular Strawberry Margarita. If shooting is more your style, you will be...
Pros: Smooth, no nasty after taste, fun to order Cons: Can be hard to find
If you get a chance to go to an AUTHENTIC Mexican restaurant, ask them for a margarita (mango's my favorite) made with Hornitos (pronounced "Horny Toes"), and you won't be sorry. A lot of tequila has this horribly bitter after taste that sends...
Excellent Tequila, excellent value! by sanjuro82 ,Aug 31 '04
Pros: 100% Pure Agave, reposado, great value! Cons: There are better tequilas out there, but they cost a lot more!
In my opinion, Sauza Hornitos Reposado is the best value on the market today for tequila. When you pick up a bottle of this tequila you'll have nothing to worry about, because you'll be getting an exceptional product. Sauza Hornitos Reposado is 100% pure agave, and it's aged.
And the taste is oh so smooth.....you can drink it straight or mix up some incredible margaritas!
I highly recommend it! For the price it can't be beat.
Pros: Very good for the money. Won't make you sick like the cheap stuff. Cons: A little more bite than more expensive tequillas.
Tequilla is one of my favorite drinks and I've tried numerous brands. Hornitos Reposado is one the best values out there. It is clean, crisp and doesn't have too much of an afterbite. If you're trying to stay around the $20 price point, it is really tough to beat!!
Pros: Smooth.
No hangover the next day.
Quality for a reasonable price (comparing to 'plain' Tequilas) Cons: Tequila is SO expensive these days.
Smooth. No bad taste after a shot. No need for lemon to keep you from puking : )
I really like this Tequila. It's a little more expensive but after trying it I can't buy the 'plain' ones anymore.
It just keeps getting worse by rubengrita ,Nov 30 '04
Pros: The bottle is kind of pretty. Cons: It's probably toxic and causes brain damage.
I was introduced to Hornitos some twenty years ago in Mexico and fell in love with it--the smell, the feel, everything. The stuff they're selling in the U.S. right now is not the same. When was it, maybe ten years ago? Sauza started a big ad campaign pushing Hornitos. Ever since, the stuff has gone downhill.
I've been saying this for years, but just for the hell of it I picked up a bottle at the grocery store the other day. Bug poison? Yes. Chemical? You betcha. Kerosene. It's really really nasty, five times worse even than the last time I tried it.
I happened across this review site while checking to see if anyone else had the same recollections as me. I know my tastebuds have aged, but . . .
