Pros: Well built, operation ease, well engineered, easy to assemble, user friendly, good suction, long warranty Cons: Nothing negative, but owners manual should be read to fully understand features usage.
It has been awhile since I wrote a product review, but wanted to pass on my thoughts about the Sebo X4 upright vacuum cleaner. Before outlining my good review of this cleaner, allow me to explain my circumstances. My wife, who is the primary vacuum user ...
Pros: Super easy to use and Super Strong!!
Well Built!! Cons: NONE!!!
I can't believe I'm actually writing a review on something, but the Sebo X4 inspired me THAT MUCH! Normally I don't get excited about vacuum cleaners, but after 2 months of scouring the internet and area stores for the "perfect vacuum", I needed to ...
Pros: Everything about this machine, not a problem that I can find. Cons: The bags are not widely available, you need to go to an actual vacuum store.
Here I am again, writing on a vacuum. I wrote a review in 2000 and have been through 2 more since. I think we finally found a keeper. By keeper I mean one that will last longer than a year or 2. I cannot get over the sebo. It cleans better than ...
Pros: Powerful suction, quiet operation, simple/quick attachments, low clearance, auto powerhead height adjustment, and Value!!! Cons: None. Best value on the market. Maybe just the online price. Go to local dealer.
The Sebo X4 makes vacuuming a pleasure rather than a task. If you have plush wall to wall carpets, this machine is a necessity. Definitely worth every penny. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON A MIELE, they are severely overrated. Not only do they look and ...
Pros: The best - no kidding. Cons: Can't think of one and I am trying.
I think I am like most people who end up with a Sebo. You finally get tired of all the other vacuum cleaners and that's the way you can rationalize spending that kind of money on a vacuum cleaner. So let me start off by saying - this Sebo X4 is far ...
Pros: Lightweight, doesn't leave the room smelling like an old vacuum, easy to use and effective Cons: Expensive, not for carpet longer than 3/4", prone to tip over
I have researched vacuums for about 3 months, although I have been shopping in my head for years. I found a great vacuum for me but I do not think this vacuum is for everyone. First are my pros: great suction, light weight (and I have lower back ...
Pros: Good suction; easy to use onboard tools. Cons: Expensive.
I recently updated my floors and the old vacuum (Wind Tunnel) sent more dirt into the house than I felt I was getting out of it so I searched online for months to find a vacuum that met all of my requirements: Good suction; HEPA filtration; ease of use; ...
Pros: Quality, performance, apapts to all floors well, easy to push, easy to operate, quiet. Cons: None.
The X4 isnt called automatic for no reason. It has a computer sensor that feels resistance on the rotating brush. It automatically adjusts to ensure proper agitation. So you do not need to adjust anything, just turn it on and vacuum. It ...
Pros: Thrashed the pile back into life - hurray. Cons: None, as yet.
This is a first for me - a review. And on a vacuum cleaner, too. Who'd have thought it? But, this machine is truly amazing. I bought my Sebo X4 Extra after spending ages checking reviews on the Internet and the Sebo came up smelling like roses time after ...
Pros: Well designed, durable product that should last for years Features not available on other brands Cons: A bit pricier than but you get what you pay for, a fabulous product
The best medium priced vacuum on the market I have owned an Aerus Electrolux canister for 8 years which I bought used from the local Aerus dealer. After 4 years, the motor died therefore I had it rebuilt and 4 years later it died again. Since it was ...
Good motor/bearings/mounts by daxmaster9k ,Oct 14 '06
Pros: Construction is top notch (do some homework and you'll see). Cons: It will take some time for investment to pay for itself.
Very well constructed, very high-quality feel to it when its running - and it's pretty darned quiet for a vacuum. You can tell there are good bearings and motor mounts in it just by how smooth it runs; the thing doesnt vibrate or shake your hand like a cheap vacuum. It's also easy to clean the brushes and change the bag.
Pros: Light weight, automatically adjusts, long warranty, great quality! Cons: Vacuum bags are slightly smaller than other's.
I've had an Oreck (10 years) and the Dyson DC15 (2 years). I was looking to purchase the Miele S7 because my Oreck was too old and the Dyson was too heavy to lug up and down the stairs. When I went to "test drive" the Miele, the salesperson showed me the Sebo X4. This is the best vacuum. Its lighter and much less bulkier than the Miele and Dyson. It has incredible suction. The automatic adjustment features is wonderful, I can go from carpet to hardwood with no interuption. The unit folds flat so vacuuming under beds and tables are easy. Message indicator lets you know when bad is full. Accessories / attachments are easily accessible and located on the unit for ease of use. This is the best vacuum I've ever had, do not hesitate to purchase! Its a bit pricier than the Oreck and Dyson, but much less than the Miele S7. Truly a great buy, exceptional quality!
Pros: Easy to use, low profile for under beds great filtration, easy bag removal. Cons: none
I have been through some vacuums in my life, when I stumbled across the Sebo x4 at my local vacuum dealer. I was so impressed with this vacuum. The suction is great, on board tools easy to use, long reach and don't hurt your back when you use them. I have a 2300 sq foot house w/ about half tile floor, I will never sweep again this vacuum goes from my carpet to tile with ease and NO KICK BACK... It's automatic hight adjust is awsome. The bags are easy to put on and take off, long warranty on the motor. I can honstly say that I love my vacuum... I would RECOMMEND this vacuum to anyone and everyone how would listen. This really is the BEST vacuum that i have ever had.
In fairness to the Engineers - this is a well designed product with well thought out features. So, I would have given it a five-star rating - if not for the reliability and service nightmare.
My problem is that after investing nearly $800, I expected a longer than average service life. Because of the modular design, I also expected that anything that failed would be easy to replace. NOT!
The dealer network is HORRIBLE! Sebo does not stand behind their product, and they are nearly impossible to contact directly. They would not provide parts or service, only referrals to local shops. Over the past six months, I have tried to use four different local shops. Two went out of business during the process, and one moved out of town. I had the vacuum back 3 times for the same issue, and was assured that it was fixed each time. It worked for one day, then began spontaneously shutting down and not turning back on. Do not buy Sebo expecting above-average service life - 4 years max.
Pros: Everything about this is a pro! Cons: costly
I am the queen of sweepers and have been through numerous ones over the years. I have had a minimum of 5 sweepers in 10 years and knew that I wanted a good one this time. Thank God I finally found it. If it holds up longer than 1.5 - 2 years, I'll be especially grateful. I hope it holds up 10-15 years or more.
It has great onboard attachments. It pushes easily. It lays flat to go under the beds. It has a hepa filter. There are accessory attachments you can purchase. It is incredibly easy to use. It is fairly light.
Finally a vacuum that does what it's supposed to do!!! by trasee ,Apr 09 '06
Pros: Great suction, ease of use. Cons: 2 filters AND bags, which can only be purchased at vacuum retailer or online.
I can't believe this vacuum works so well. I have to say that when I stopped at a local vacuum store after a disappointing day of shopping for vacuums, I was shown the x4 and thought it looked cheap. I couldn't believe that it worked so well. The salesman even jumped up and down on the demo after the comment I made about it being such light weight plastic. Getting to the more important reason of the machine,it really is a great performer, lots of suction, ease of physical use as it moves almost by itself. It also has a very long electric cord, good attachments and actually cleans along the baseboards. I really am glad that I found this one as I was prepared to pay double for one of those that uses water to contain the dirt. I only hope that this vacuum holds up for many years as promised by the salesman. It is a plus when you buy local as they will cover the warranty repairs and will give you a great deal. It doesn't hurt to ask them to "throw" in a deal like a free package of bags.
5 years on and it's still like new by wkearney99 ,Jun 23 '06
Pros: Absolutely rock-solid reliable, fantastically durable and does an EXCELLENT job cleaning. Cons: Costly but worth every penny.
We got one of these about five years ago. Between us and our housekeeper we've done everything BUT be gentle with it. It's still working like it was brand new. This thing is darned near indestructible. While it's considerably more expensive than typical mass-market brands, it's been WELL WORTH IT for reliability and it's cleaning capabilities.
If it were ever to die I'd most certainly buy another Sebo in a heartbeat. But at this rate it might outlive me!
Very Disappointed with Sebo X4 by lew1943 ,Dec 18 '05
Pros: Light, good suction ease of use Cons: Reliability
In many ways the Sebo X4 is a first rate product. It is light to push has good suction and is easy to operate. We have owned one for about 5 years and bought it from a local store and paid a lot of money for it. We were prepared to do this as we thought we were buying into a reliable product. What a mistake! In the five years we have owned it it has been returned to the manufacturer once for the drive shaft to be replaced at a cost of £50/£60 and now the same fault has arisen again. We have now decided to ditch the product and put the £50 or so towards another product.
Pros: Reliability, Great vacuum features--automatically detects bare floor and rug and adjusts, durability, long term value Cons: nothing really
If you are looking for quality, reliability, excellent customer service, i.e. great vacuum, you found one!
I reviewed many vacuums, but decided on this one, because it lasts a long time. Sebo bags are not more expensive than Hoover bags. It is extremely well designed--you can reach brush with ease if something gets stuck in it, just excellent overall value and ease of use. Hepa filter lasts year or longer. This vacuum lasting power will impress everybody. I would recommend to purchase also extention hose for stair and upholstery tool (if they don't come with vacuum). This is the best value out there. My husband actually vacuumed all house and said it is a joy to vacuum. Give a guy a gift and put your feet up.
Pros: Light, very quiet, auto height adjustment, S-class filtration, bagged vacuum/easy change, great tool design. Cons: Only two minor "cons": no headlight, no auto-cord rewind.
I subscribe to Consumer Reports and trust their recommendations. However, after personally trying out all their top vacuum choices, I chose the Sebo X-4 for its combination of features, performance, and user-friendly design. This was after trying top-rated vacuums like the Dyson (bagless mess was unacceptable to me; it's also quite noisy), the Kenmore (way too bulky and heavy for my wife), the Eureka SmartVac (also harder to handle and noisy), and the Riccar Ultralight (very light, but also rather noisy). Of course, all these vacuums (and a dozen more) would be "acceptable," but I was looking for a great vacuum that might actually even make you look forward to vacuuming. The X-4 is light, quiet, has a great tool design, is bagged (no exposure to dust/allergens; easy to change bags), cleans well (and its auto-height adjustment works flawlessly).
Pros: lightweight easy maneuverability Cons: would have liked a retractable cord
I was steered to this vacuum after doing tons of research online and needing something that can go from hard floors to carpet without changing a setting. This does just that. At first pass through on the shag rug it got jammed. Then we read in the manual that you must vacuum quickly over shag or it will try to suck it up and jam. So turn on vacuum while on the hard floor, then move swiftly over the rug and vacuum. It is lightweight yet powerful. Like it so far.
Thanks to the tips on this site I went to the local store where I paid $250 less than the online price. It was still pricey though. Hope it holds up!
