Another great from Sony

by shayscia , Mar 08 '07
Pros: Small and lightweight, durable
Cons: Memory Stick cards can be expensive
I was given this camera as a gift in May of 2005 and I have been pleased with it ever since. It takes great pictures in indoor and outdoor settings. The pictures come out so clear. It may seem tricky to get a good picture because of the focus - you have ...

handy and capable

by wick5449 , Sep 24 '05
Pros: Pocketable, excellent pictures, ease of use, battery life
Cons: limited personal control, but most buyers couldn't care less
I have a Canon Powershot G6 which I like very much. The only drawback is it is chunky, and not pocketable. I bought this Sony for the size, and reputation Sony has earned for results. I was not disappointed. This is a small camera, If you have large ...

Underwater use, Pictures are Great

by evossman , Nov 16 '05
Pros: AV attachment to TV, Simple but with useable features
Cons: More zoom would be nice, but I think this is standard with all Digitals
I found this camera to be kind of a transition camera. Although its simple simple for a novice point and shooter, it also gives the option to play with the settings a lot. Don't be daunted by them though, if you want a simple and robust camera just grab ...

I'd buy this camera again if I had to buy one.
by hokinizeu ,Nov 30 '06
Pros: Compact, long lasting battery, easy to use
Cons: Requires Memory Stick Pro for more capacity for pictures and videos
I've had it nearly for two years, price hasn't gone down much. That should say something about this camera; I spent $400 for this camera with 256MB memory stick pro. It's just a great camera, very compact, great picture quality, compact, long lasting battery, very easy to use, easy to transfer pictures to your computer. I also use this camera to transfer files b/w PCs. I still love this camera.

Nice for more experienced users
by wladston ,Mar 18 '07
Pros: battery system, manual mode
Cons: just 2 aperture steps, no external flash
The best I like on it is the manual mode. You can play setting the aperture (2 steps) and the shutter speed, as well as flash brightness.

Somewhat bit but fits the pocket. The battery report in minutes left, and this is great!

I only wish I had more aperture steps to play with this camera :)

Often blurry pictures
by sarunya ,Oct 28 '05
Pros: None
Cons: Blurry pictures
About 10-15 % of the pictures are blurry. There are problems with the auto focus. When I get my tax rebates, I am going to give this to my niece and get a Canon Powershot.

Sony DSC P100, Very Good Camera
by robbybrummy ,Aug 24 '07
Pros: It takes clear sharp crisp photos. It doesn't require special drivers to load.
Cons: I cant think of anything really that I would want different in it.
This was my first foray into the digital photography universe, and I must say, this camera has made it really pleasurable and fun.
I have had an altogether very positive results with my camera.

I bought mine used, since I was not quite sure what to expect, I was pleasantly suprised by the features and how easy it was to use this camera.

I use it to take photos of fine details like embroidery, and patterns for a small online retail business.

Even in challenging light conditions, like indoors, it still takes fantastic photos.
The colour is very good too. It is compact which makes it effortless to carry with me.

Good camera, but shutter speed drove me crazy
by mascaramagic ,Nov 17 '06
Pros: cheap, light and easy to use
Cons: shutter speed, battery life and small screen
bought this camera one Christmas and it has served me faithfully for many years, but as technology has advanced and the number of photos i took increased, i felt in need of something with a larger screen and longer battery life. The time it takes to actually take a picture was very long and was difficult to take 'action' shots.

Great small camera
by jeffomatic ,Oct 02 '05
Pros: excellent lens, good pictures
Cons: Ambiguous charger connector, a little hard to hook up.
I've always thought Sony charges a little more just because of their brand recognition, but in my experience the Sony brand usually insures a high level of quality. This camera is no exception! I bought it because of the lens system and pixel count. You can't beat a Carl Zeiss lens.. The Vario-Tessar is the best compact lens system! The camera takes amazing pictures for it's size and is very good in low light situations. The adjustments and features are easy to set up and the battery lasts a long time between recharges. Prints made at a Kodak or Fuji Kiosk look better than 35mm snapshots to me. I thought the Mpeg movie feature was going to be a poor quality add-on, but it works very well for short clips.
I would recommend the camera or it's later offspring with similar features.

Great Pictures with Fast Shutter and Long Battery Life
by alanpgh ,Jan 18 '05
Pros: Nice Picture Quality, Very Fast Shutter Speed, Long Battery Life, Great Movie Mode with Sound.
Cons: None so far.
The Sony P-100 is a very compact, take it with you camera. I bought a P-100 as a replacement for my aging Minolta Dimage XT.

Picture quality is very good. Very fast shutter speed and long battery life. Movie mode is also very good. I also recommend the Sony dock for your TV.

Bought it in October 2004 from Staples.com. Very fast delivery. Used my American Express Rewards Points to save $100. (Price shown is after $100. discount using my American Express Rewards Points.) Sony also gave me 20% off on accessories ordered after the purchase from sonystyle.com.

Honestly, this is a great camera!
by djic ,Jul 31 '04
Pros: Excellent photos, awesome InfoLithium battery life, good-sized LCD, compactness, and numerous accessories available.
Cons: Haven't found any yet.
I'm not an expert photographer, but I can tell you that the photos I've taken with this camera have blown my mind. The tweaks that are possible are sweet, and allow me to easily set up for action shots, low light settings and candid shots. All the flexibility makes this Sony a winner. I can't imagine why this camera would ever get a bad review since this camera exceeds any expectation for a point-and-shoot. I spent a couple of weeks researching digital cameras and for the price, surplus of features, and name you can trust, Sony has done it again.

Anyone else with low picture quality when zoomed in?
by jackson97124 ,May 09 '05
Pros: Takes great still pictures, color is great, crystal clear. Video mode is adequate.
Cons: Blurry photos when zoomed all the way in. May be defect, I don't know.
I love this camera. Everything about it has been great except one thing. When I zoom all the way in the picture quality is terrible. It is very blurry and streaky, especially in high light situations. Is this normal? Does anyone else have this issue? When not zoomed in all the way the pictures are crystal clear. Please help. I can take this back and get it fixed if it is a defect, but if they all do this it won't help.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Great little camera1
by maureenmc ,Apr 12 '05
Pros: It's small, light, easy to use and takes great pictures.
Cons: The accessories are expensive.
I recently purchased the Sony Cyber-shot P100 after doing a great deal of research on-line and in the stores and by asking people I know about their cameras. I chose this camera and am 100% satisfied. I love it because it's small enough to take anywhere--and if you're leaving your camera home because it's too bulky or heavy, then it doesn't matter how good it is--does it?! I also love the quality of the pictures and the ease of use. There are so many features it's great, but even before reading about all of them, the first time I used it, I was able to take great action shots at my nieces gymnastics party. The colors and the action were so life-like. The red-eye reduction works really well--just for test purposes I took the same pictures of the same subject with the red-eye reduction on and off and the difference was amazing.

Compact Easy to Use camera
by deantw ,Jan 22 '05
Pros: easy to use, super fast start up, long battery, small enough body, large pixel.
Cons: small LCD, design not good for one hand operate, flash only good for near objects
A not-so-big camera with fast start up, and nice battery life which will catch nice pictures quick. Also with its strong flash, and auto focus if shot steady enough, the pictures are good. A nice choice for beginner.

Great Video, Average Pictures
by nettech ,Oct 04 '05
Pros: Great Video, Small Compact Design, Easy Operations, Speed of picture taking
Cons: Picture sharpness, Fragile, Memory Stick cost, Small stick included
I bought this camera for a few reasons. I needed a digital camera to replace a Fujifilm that was stolen. I also bought this camera because of the Sony name. I own a few Sony products at home, a Handycam and a Clie and I like the company.
Since I am away from my family I needed a camera that could take good videos. I am very pleased with the video quality and size, 640X480, 30FPS. Now the pictures, while most of the pictures came out clear, there were quite a few pictures that did not. Some pictures may have been caused by the shaky hand syndrome, but I personally think that is not the case for all the pictures. I was a little disappointed in the quality of these pictures. I just could not help but compare the photos to my older Fuji, which I believe took a sharper photo. About a month ago the camera screen cracked, I honestly do not remember banging it around; let’s see what that will run me.
