Pros: Quality, colors, sound Cons: Bugs and flies have flown into the set. The back opening needs a screen. Price.
I bought this TV Memorial Day weekend 05. I researched it for some time and at first, I was going to buy the XBR, then the XS but eventually, decided to buy the WF and get a stereo system and DVD player. I am not disappointed at all. In the beginning, ...
Pros: great picture (SD and HD), easy to set up, lots of inputs Cons: a little screen door effect, 1 hdmi
I did a lot of research ( 8 months worth) before choosing the sony over mits, samsung, hitachi, and toshiba. I went with this one for a couple reasons. First of all, DLP vs. LCD. Do you like coke or pepsi, miller or bud?? They both have a great picture ...
Pros: No pros to speak of when the TV won't turn on. Cons: Screen went completely blank and never came on again. Terrible customer service.
Thank you for letting me express my complete disappointment and anguish with my 60” Sony Wega and the Sony Customer Service Department. I bought this TV a year and a half ago and have only gotten to enjoy watching it for less than a year. Eleven months ...
Pros: It works fine for a while... Cons: ...then the lamp dims
Have had it for 2 years. Liked it in the beginning, but screen gets darker and darker over time (even with brightness on max). Now have to buy a $200 replacement lamp. I guess I should have realized right away as soon as i opened the box and looked at ...
Pros: Great picture, good sound, clarity superb. Cons: Pricey, a bit bulky compared to flat screen.
So it was my husbands birthday. You know the big 50 and I decided to treat him. He works hard and his hobby is coming home and crashing in front of the TV. My son is in school for television and broadcasting so I took him along to BB to shop the picture. He fell in love with the WEGA by Sony. It is an amazing picture. After comparing projections TV's there was no comparison. I usually like Toshiba screens but was impressed with the clarity and color. So we got the TV and the extra cords to hook up with better clarity and off we went in a huge pick up borrowed from a friend. When we got it home and hooked it up to cable it looked as good as in the store. The discovery channel is the best, it's like having a huge live aquarium with out the mess. My son comes home from college and watches the discovery channel! We have surround sound hooked up to it but it doesn't really need it as the sound system is pretty good. It was a bit pricey but well worth the expense.
Pros: Looks good Cons: flashing light may mean end of the road (unless flashing 3 or 4 times only)
Hi,
I have the 55" Version of this TV. Until is started shutting off for 30 seconds at a time (no picture/audio) and flashing the power/standby light.
I am doing my research and I don't think it's the lamp, or overheating. I am worried its something worse inside.
I wonder if any of you have had any issues where the front lights flash or if your tv shuts off for a limited period of time. I have had it about 2 years.
This 60 inch Sony is One Great Set by operadio ,Aug 22 '05
Pros: Well Built, almost no fan noise, check out that Dual Picture with 2 tuners Cons: must scroll thru inputs rather than direct select
I compared Sets at several stores, read 100s of forums and almost bought a JVC with all its re-calls, light engine problems, etc, but finally bought the Sony 60 KDF60WF655...right out of the box it worked great....cable company put in the Cable Card (No Extra Box) so I can use the tuner in the set...The HD is just super...don't believe all you read about SD being bad; it looks fine on mine...that Screen Door some harp about is only there if your face is too close to watch the picture; we sit 8 feet away and everything is fine....HGTV on SD is almost like HD!...DVDs with a low cost progressive scan and "S" video are like I never saw before...No burn-in problems like Plasma, no Headaches like DLP's spinnoing wheel.(technology from the early 50s)...If you are waiting for a better set, just go ahead and buy one now and and tart enjoying your TV time
My friends who have widescreen TVs are amazed at what a superior product I have in the Sony Grand WEGA. The picture is phenomenal! It gives such dimension to whatever I am watching and HD shows are amazingly realistic. I was surprised at how little it weighed for such a large television. I had to move it myself once and, although it was a bit awkward, I could handle the weight. I purchased this TV through a website and had it shipped to my home and set it up in 10 minutes. I saved a total of about $300 by not buying it locally and not having to pay the sales tax.
Wonderful Picture at unbeatable price by gshamis ,Feb 16 '05
Pros: Great picture at unbeatable price Cons: none yet
I bought this TV 3-4 weeks ago. Screen is huge. Watching it, I feel like I am at the movies. Quality of the picture is wonderful when hooked up to digital cable, and even better when showing HD channels. My old non-progressive-scan DVD-player looks crappy on this set, but I haven't figured out yet if it's worth the money to buy one of the new HDMI DVD players (~$300) or just cheap progressive scan.
This Sony has all the right inputs and outputs. Side-by-side PIP, fancy remote, but best of all its price can't be touched by anything else offering similar quality in similar size.
Plasma TVs are 2-3x more expensive. And very few are out there which offer 60" screen
I highly recommend it!
Pros: Great Color, even with the ghost present. But it's time to try something different Cons: Too expensive to keep making repairs. It is time to try something different.
I have a blue ghost at right hand bottom. I don't have and extended warranty so I had to pay over $280. for a service man to come to my home, pick up the tv and return it. The entire bill was almost $900. to replace the lamp and the video driver. It has been less than 60 days since the repair and we now have an uninvited blue ghost. I don't want to pay anothe $280. for a service call. I will live with the blue ghost as long as he remains at the bottom of the screen. If he gets bigger, I will throw this piece of crap away and but another brand. P.S. If you live near Bradenton, Fl as I do, don't expect to get a honest repairman. I don't think sony is as good as it used to be. I was a sony customer for over 40 years but now it is time to try something different.
Pros: Great picture, easy set-up, hold a true black level when set correctly, multi function remote Cons: Only has one hdmi input and you can't connect your computer and use screen
I order it on line after reviewing alot of projection and plasmas. This T.V.'s features and picture detail out of the box is what made my decision easy. It's easy to set up and I used the Joe Kane dvd to set the picture settings. The viewing field is amazing from any spot. The same or better picture quality of a plasma for alot less price.
Great TV, easy lamp replacement. by jemarsil ,Jun 26 '08
Pros: Beautiful picture, great sound, easy lamp replacement, great support from other users online. Cons: Company customer support/technical service is lacking.
I bought this TV because I wanted/needed a new one to use as my computer monitor. I'm an IT guy, so I had no problem making it work. I was quite happy with it and Windows XP, and the same goes for Linux although there's a bit of a border around the TV doesn't allow you to see the edges of the desktop.
At some point, the TV "died" on me and Sony had no idea what was wrong with it (it was out of warranty). The picture would stay on for about 15 seconds, then go black for 20 min or so, then the picture would show up for a few seconds again. After digging around on the internet a bit, I discovered I just needed to change the lamp. Presto! It was good as new.
Generally speaking the only two issues with this model are lamp and/or ballist. You can purchase a new lamp (without the casing, so use the old casing) for about $160 if you shop around. I suggest staying with the manufacturer's replacement lamp as others tend to cause problems even though they may be less expensive.
