Pros: Picture quality, style, features, inputs Cons: 4:3 aspect ratio, price, weight, SONY TVs are not the ones of the most reliable
The Sony KV-36XBR450WEGA XBR Hi-Scan TV is an HDTV-ready TV with 2 HD-compatible component video inputs. However, it features 4:3 aspect ratio, which is better suited for standard definition broadcasts than for HDTV.
Pros: Sharp, vivid DVD images Cons: DRC-MF is not defeatable: You get video artifacts with poor quality signals.
You should know this article is more about the considerations that I have been labouring over around picking one TV over another. In this case it's the Sony KV-36XBR450 versus the Panasonic Tau CT-34WX50. I am not doing a detailed feature by feature...
Pros: Great Picture, Great Looks, Easy to use. All the bells and whistles. Cons: None
The Sony KV-36XBR450 is second to none. Out of the box the TV was awesome. The colors are true to life with no red push that the Panasonic Tau is plagged by. When you combine this set with a progressive DVD it will truly blow you away with clarity...
Pros: Amazing picture with DVD, Bright Colors, Beautiful stylish silver cabinet. Cons: Weight 235 lbs, High price, Nothing else yet.
I purchased the Sony KV-36XBR450 WEGA from Circuit City 3 months ago. I wanted to wait and review the TV after I was able to use much of the functionality. I am so impressed! I have a 10 year old 27" and a 5 year old 32", I am always comparing the...
Pros: Stunning DVD movie picture quality, great picture with 'normal' cable, easy-to-use remote and menu Cons: none yet except I want to rent many more DVDs!!
I was looking to buy a 36" direct view and had narrowed my search to the Panasonic and Toshiba. I did not think the Sony Hi-Scan had as good a picture as either of these. A friend just bought an XBR450 for about $2400 and I was impressed with the picture...
Pros: Color quality, inputs, 1080i, feature selections Cons: Weight, price, apparent geometry problem, aspect ratio
When I first saw this monitor I was very surprised to see a distinct non-linear bowing on the bottom of the screen when viewing letterbox format. When viewing off air HDTV signal, bowing was also quite apparent on the right edge of the picture. The...
Pros: great DVD quality, sharp, clear crisp sound Cons: aspect ratio (3:4), heavy, pricy, somewhat confusing
I have had my T.V for about two years. I have had no big problems. There is alot of confusing modes and buttons. So I sometimes would press the wrong button, this took ME a while to fix. This T.V has great sound and picture. I don't have surround sound...
Pros: Great quality, good sound, solid as a rock, good looking, It's a Sony!!! Cons: Expensive, Heavy
This High Definition Television is of exceptional quality. I have not had any problems with it yes. It all started when my 10 year old Sony monitor/television finally died. It had been struck by lightning 2 times and even been moved through three houses...

This TV has been the best entertainment addition to our household. It is easy to set-up and yet has great depth of features. It works entirely as I expected and given the quality is actually good value. If you need even more size Sony has just come out with a 40" - but we find the 36" quite adequate.

I've lived with this set for quite some time. The picture quality is fantastic provided there is a high resolution input signal. Digital Cable has varying degrees of success (it depends on the bandwidth alloted to a specific channel). I use an excellent Sony DVD player (DVP-S9000ES) and using 480p, it really shows well made movies compared to run-of-the-mill productions.
The audio is better left to your home theater system if you wish excellent sound.
The feature set compliments my DVD player very well. It seems they were made for each other. Between the two, you can tweak just about everything.
This set is smaller than my Sony 61" XBR (61XBR28; 1995 vintage) but provides gobs more detail (again, with a good source). If you do not have room for a large front or rear projector but still want an awesome picture, this set is perfect. I think my next set will be a widescreen XBR. What can I say, I love Sony XBR's!
