Great Camera for Great Price
by nlkitten ,May 12 '04
Pros: -Takes great photos - clear.
-Wonderful Price!!
-Buttons are easy to operate.
Cons: -Battery life is short with cheap batteries. I suggest Energizer2 lithiums for digital cameras.
-Small enough to fit in my purse. I carry it everywhere.
-Nice color.
-1.5 inch screen, which I wish was bigger, but I can zoom to see images in a larger scale.

Great Digital Camera For The Price
by cafferty ,Nov 17 '03
Pros: Small, takes good pictures, easy to use. Cons: Eats batteries, SD memory card not included (has only 8MB internal memory).
It doesn't compare to my Canon G2, but as a digital to carry in my briefcase and take occasional photos on jobs, it's great. It's small enough that it doesn't take a lot of room, and it's easy to use. It eats batteries (but don't they all), but takes a good picture. Easy setup - controls are handy. Definitely worth the price for the digital beginner or for that second camera you want to have with you all the time.

I LOVE MY CAMERA!!!!!!!
by erinwiese ,Aug 02 '04
Pros: Quality is AWESOME!!! Cons: Eats batteries.
Seriously, I am in love with this camera. It takes fabulous pictures...the exact same quality as my regular 35mm camera. I send them to Sams Club online and pick up my perfect prints a few days later.
It does eat batteries though, but I hear this is true of any camera with an LCD. I bought rechargable batteries. I go through 2 AA batteries after about 12 pictures..it's insane. I also bought an SD card off Ebay so I have lots of storage.
Even the menu buttons and options are not too difficult to get used to.
Bottom line, I can't believe I got this camera for only $125!! It's worth sooo much more!

Returned my first one in two weeks, have same problem (and more problems)with second one.
by baranch ,Apr 25 '04
Pros: Light, small, takes decent pictures Cons: Quality is terrible, have had major problems with two cameras.
Potentially this looked like a decent little camera. I bought it after my 3 year old Epson broke. The 3 megapixels are great, and its compatible with my Mac without having to install drivers. It's relatively easy to use (no easier than my old camera), and takes good pictures, and is small and light.
The camera eats batteries nonstop, but I use rechargeables, and always have 2 sets of spares, so I could live with that. The memory is abysmal, and a memory card, though available, is not included.
I returned my first one to the store after two weeks. I had deleted all my images, but kept getting the message "MEMORY FULL". My new one worked for a few weeks then the same thing happened. I was able to eke out a few more pictures by fiddling with the settings, and was able to delete those pictures a couple of times, but can't seem to do that any more. Also, when I try to change the settings, they instantly revert back to the default settings.
I e-mailed the company twice and have had no response.

Great Little Camera For The Price
by martlet ,Nov 18 '03
Pros: Small size a definite plus Cons: Batteries, batteries, batteries.
I was accustomed to my larger Kodak digital camera, so when I wanted something with 3-plus megapixels I decided to give this one a try. At first, I was thrown by the small size and light weight but once I began to play with it, fell in love with this little camera. It took some time for me to learn how to use its many features but after a couple of hours, I was snapping away and downloading to my computer.
Set on the highest quality, the pictures print out well. The lowest setting is useful only for web files and sending pics through email. The built-in memory doesn't hold much but you can buy additional memory cards if you want to take lots of pictures away from your computer. And the short video-clips you can take eat up a lot of memory.
All in all, I was well-impressed by this little camera, especially as I can slip it into my purse and have it with me all the time.

You get what you pay for.
by masterb8 ,Nov 22 '04
Pros: Was a great buy for a three megapixel. Good pictures. Cons: Eats batteries, long flash charge cycle, no optical zoom, no sound for short video clips.
This was a Walmart special from April 2003. I almost returned the camera due to the batteries being loose in the compartment and causing the camera to not function. Messing around with it like all boys do, I managed to put a temporary bridge in place fixing the problem. It works with that little piece of metal.
Man does this camera eat the batteries though. I try to keep the LCD screen off and that seems to help. Cold weather? Fahgeddaboudit. This thing even eats batteries when it's left in the drawer. Or maybe the power-on button is too easy to depress...
And the flash... jimminees that thing takes a long time to charge.
I can never get my resolution choice to stay. It will stay put while the power is on, and then revert back to default when I turn off the camera. I find this to be rather annoying since it forces me to go back into the menu and select my options once again.
Still, at the time it was an excellent buy. I guess that the thing still works should count for something.

Point and shoot digital camera
by airgun ,Mar 05 '04
Pros: Very easy to use. Can't beat the price. Uses SD card which is small, durable. Cons: Software for PC only, but works with iPhoto! Camera resets when you pull out SD.
As digital cameras go this is a very inexpensive point and shoot digital camera in the 3 mega pixel range. At 3 mega pixels you get very good 8x10's on photo paper (Fuji Digital Frontier). If you want to compare this camera to a film camera, it is a cut above the disposable flash 35mm. So like the disposable camera, don't expect it to produce miracles. If you want faster flash recycle times and longer battery life, turn off the LCD screen and use the gold marks in the view finder. Recycle time with LCD screen on, 15 seconds with new alkalines. Recycle time with LCD screen off, 8 seconds. Want to save money? Invest in NiMH AA batteries and a charger. You can get 8 AA size for $15, and a charger for $20 --camera for $140, total package is still less than $200! Don't forget the 128 mb SD card that will hold 100 high resolution pictures ($50). When you use the flash, keep your subjects closer than 6 feet. One quirk, when you leave the camera on idle for a while, the shutter lag on the first shot can be as long as 5 seconds.

Don't Buy this Camera!
by uplover ,Dec 08 '03
Pros: There are no pros for this camera. It's a loser all the way. Cons: Everything about it is a con. There is a design flaw in the software.
This camera was my 1st digital camera and a birthday gift from my husband. I had to take the first one back to Wal-mart because, with the camera on, it would not lock in a resolution setting. The Photo Manager said this was definitely not normal. So, I got another one hoping it was just a quirk. Guess what? It wasn't! I took the camera out of town for a very special wedding and it performed horribly. It kept changing resolution settings by itself each time I took a picture. What a pain! I also kept getting an error message when the camera was set on flash and it would not take a picture. I therefore missed many shots that will never be repeated. Also, the slide show doesn't work. What a mistake getting this camera. I can't wait to bring it back. To top it off - Vivitar doesn't even offer a toll-free number so you can talk to someone. They answer emails by sending you a form telling you to send the camera into them for repairs. Take my advice -- pass this one up.

Great Camera!!!
by miggy62590 ,Jan 03 '05
Pros: Takes great pictures, nice and compact, and easy to use. Cons: Eats up batteries very quickly, and you definitely need a memory card.
This is a great camera! I got it for Christmas and I was able to use it right out of the box. Everything on the camera is basically self-explanatory. The only thing I would recommend for this camera would be a good memory card, because it's only capable of about 25 pictures max without one, and some rechargeable batteries and battery charger. But it takes great pictures and the software it comes with is also very easy to use with so many options.

An O.K. camera, I wouldnt buy it
by zgurl101 ,May 27 '04
Pros: Great pixels and light weight. Cons: battery problem (abnormally fast eating)flash changes have to push bottons couple of times to read
I really wanted a digital camera for my birthday and if I was going to get one I wanted to get a good one that I would keep for a while. Got this camera as a gift and it looked great. I cant look a gift horse in the mouth so I am happy I got a digital camera, however I wish I could get a better one. I put 2 new batteries in it when I first got it and started to play around with it. It was on for less then 5 minutes and I took 2 pictures and all the sudden it said LOW BATTERY. First I assumed I did something wrong for the batteries to go soooooo quickly. I put new batteries in twice...It DID the SAME thing!!!!!! What good is this camera going to do for me if I cant even take 10 pictures with out it turning off because of the batteries. I wish I could get another one.....looks like i am going to have to stick with the Kodak throw aways untill I can earn enough money to buy the camera that I want.

MORE HASSLE THAN ITS WORTH
by tabbikat ,Jan 13 '04
Pros: Good resolution photos with the flash, light weight, easy to learn to use Cons: Eats batteries, batteries & card share slot, slow flash powerup, lousy pics without flash
I bought the Vivicam 3715 when my Vivicam 3615 was stolen. After being so happy with the 3615 I truly expected to be in love with my newer, higher resolution camera. Guess again. It starts with needing to replace the batteries constantly, usually once a day. Lithiums last a little longer but not like I was used to.
Then there is the fact that everytime I take the memory card out the batteries are released and when you turn the camera back on you have to reset everything.
Next is the fact that you have to wait forever and a day (at least 45 seconds, frequently longer) for the flash to powerup. I can't begin to count how many photos of my daughter I have missed since I got this camera. And unless you are in incredibly bright sunlight, don't try taking pictures without the flash -- they suck!
Overall I would tell anyone that the increased resolution that comes with the 3715 isn't worth it. If you like Vivitar stick with something like the 3615. This camera is just more hassle than it's worth.

Spend more money for a better camera !!!
by greg1324 ,Sep 27 '04
Pros: Small Cons: Too many to list !!!
This camera eats batteries and has many draw backs. The zoom is useless and the pictures taken with this camera are marginal at best. Buy a camera with an optical zoom and memory battery. This is an ok starter but, I wish I had spent more money and bought a better camera instead.

Vivitar 3715 is a good 3.3MP Camera for the Price.
by cheemi_dada ,Aug 01 '04
Pros: The results of the Pictures are Very Good.4X digital Zoom .Light Weight, Easy to Use Cons: Very heavy on the Batteries. Rechargeabe Batteries are must. Low Light Situation a Problem.
I Bought this camera because it was the cheapest 3.3MP Camera on the Market. I bought it 1 Year Back for $220. The results of the Pictures are Very Good. Although the Company says that it has got 2X Digital Zoom it has Got 4X Digital Zoom (That's Funny). Afterwards i found out that there are two models A and B although it is not mentioned anywhere. IF you visit the www.Vivitar.com you will find that the Cameras Later models are all 4X digital Zoom although its Written on the Box that it is 2X. The Camera would be a Great Buy. One of the drawback is that it is very heavy on the Batteries. Rechargeabe Batteries for this camera are a must. And its LCD shows dark images in Low Light sitiuations although the Results with the Flash still turn out Good But one has to use the Optical viewfinder in this case for framing the object.

Buy Batteries....lots of them!
by kkirch95 ,Dec 28 '03
Pros: It was cheap and takes good pictures. Cons: Time it takes to get a shot, battery usage
1. This camera did not include batteries when I got it.
2. This camera used up a set of brand new Duracell Ultras within 2 hours. I took 38 pictures in this time frame. The camera was not constantly on and I did not use the video feature.
3. Speaking of the video feature- why have it at all if there isn't sound?
4. It does take nice pictures.
5. Just don't expect to catch those quick moments because it often has to focus on something/someone for a good 30 seconds before being ready. So much for snapshots.
Update: I bought rechargeable batteries (Energizer) and the life is greatly increased. one problem solved. Now the only real pitfall I have with this camera is the picture delay while waiting for the flash to adjust. I suppose I can always turn off the flash if I want a photo NOW, but that isn't always the best solution.
