Pros: Inexpensive and works well Cons: Buttons don't light up
Recently, the phone in my bedroom broke so I needed a new one. Why, I can't say. I very rarely even use the phone at my house and ever since I signed up for the nationwide "do not call" list, my house phone never rings. Anyone new I meet gets my cell ...
Pros: headset jack, 10 speed dial numbers, paging feature, compact size Cons: number keys do not illuminate, can only hear well when using the headset
I needed another phone, but I didnt want to spend a lot of money on one. When a local department store ran a sale on the Vtech VT-2417 Cordless Phone, I had to take advantage of the terrific offer. After all, how many 2.4 GHz cordless ...

Inexpensive, basic phone, but poor sound by twosandalz ,Feb 23 '05
Pros: Inexpensive, takes up little table space Cons: The sound quality is poor
I picked up this phone because it had few features I wouldn't use. Plus, its base doesn't take up much space. Unlike several phones I looked at, it also has a self-paging button on the base to make it easy to find the hand unit when its lost. However, the sound was so poor that I returned it. My cell phone gets better sound. I'm disappointed because my previous cordless phone was a vtech and it had great sound quality.
I would not recommend to someone who wants clear sound. But I would recommend it to someone who doesn't care because you can't beat the price... I found it for $6 after rebate.
Vtech Model 2417 - Dissatisfied customer by bluegrass4ever ,May 25 '04
Pros: Low price, sound quality OK, compact Cons: Sharp point on antenna, rings when hung up.
On the plus side, this phone was very inexpensive (I think I paid under $10), and takes up very little space on the desk. The sound quality is decent. The most annoying feature is that when I make an outgoing call on the phone and then hang up, the phone will start ringing and will continue to ring until I pick it up. (Of course, there's nobody there!) I thought at first that this might be a problem with the phone jack, so I switched the Vtech 2417 with another phone in a different part of the house, but it has continued to have the same problem. Also, the antenna on the phone has a very sharp point, and I have poked or scratched my face with it on several occasions. I would not recommend the Vtech 2417.
