Pros: Outstanding range of choices Cons: A bit pricey
Panera Bread is one of my new favorite places. They have wonderful choices for all kinds of breads - great bagels, good coffee and even very good soups. The are usually located in large, open areas with lots of different kinds of seating arrangements for...
Pros: Great Service Quality & Selection Cons: NADA
I go to Panera's any opportunity I get. Since I moved from Canada & to find Bagels like that quality here in Michigan, I was TRULY blown away with their selection, service & quality. I love the fact that their bagels & sandwiches are FRESHLY...
Panera Bread is a wonderful sidewalk cafe which caters to the taste buds. At Panera you can dine on sandwiches, soups, salads which are all of high quality ingredients and fresh crisp veggies. The best part of Panera is the luscious array of baked goods...
Pros: their Bread bowl soups are Fantastic!! Cons: The music gets a little loud sometimes!
It's a quaint little restaurant that makes you feel right at home. They serve every thing from early morning breakfast, to an evening dinner. There're known for their delicious, thus the title. And every time I go there I can't help but have my mouth...
Panera, the former St Louis Bread Co., should be put out of business. I live about a 1/2 mile from one and used to frequent it with my business. While the bread, soup and sandwiches are good, the ambience, service and atmosphere leaves way too much to...
Pros: great food, fresh ingredients, casual atmosphere. Cons: none
We recently got a Panera Bread in town and I am hooked! This isn't your average bakery. Along with various types of bread, they have bagels, croissants, pastries, soup, sandwiches, salads, and delicious beverages.
Pros: freshness, chocolate croissant Cons: handling of food and money at the same time
Its reputation builds and spreads
Several months ago I chatted by e-mail with some friends who live in other states (one in Florida, the other in Michigan). They talked about stopping at Panera near their homes and raved about the food...
Pros: Wide variety of breads, soups in bread bowls, very fresh! Cons: No children's fare, except a boring old p and b sandwich
Yes, that's right. Against my husband's pooh-poohing advice about my stock selection, I'm cashing in savings bonds and sacking money into this restaurant.
You know how Warren Buffet became rich? He bought stock only in companies he was...
Pros: Sourdough bowl soup on the East coast Cons: Somewhat pricey
The last time I had sourdough bowl soup this good, it was in San Francisco nine years ago. Since then, I'd been keeping an eye out for someone else who served this odd dish, but without any luck. Then one day I happened across a new Panera location and...
Pros: Every thing tastes as good as it looks. It is a comfortable place. Even has some big soft cushy chairs, and a patio to dine on. Cons: Ok, so everything is just a little more expensive than I like. Also, with all the bagles, I truly wish they made a breakfast sandwich. That would be an immedaite favorite
I can't get enough of Panera. I have to control myself, but if I was a naturally thin type I'd probably eat myself to death there.
We recently got a Panera right next door to where I work. I just lost a lot of weight. I must be careful, or I...
Pros: Great food, feeling, price, and service! Cons: FOR ONCE, NONE
Panera Bread has some of the most delicious gourmet food you can buy. Their large variety of soups, their wide range of sandwiches, and their array of beverages makes it a place that will please even the most picky eater. The prices are easy to handle,...
Pros: Great food, wonderful desserts, comfortable atmosphere Cons: Can be somewhat expensive for fast food
I must admit - I am addicted to Panera Bread. I love everything about it, from the atmosphere to the incredible selection of bakery goods. I go to Panera Bread at least twice a week - sometimes of my own free will and sometimes I am kidnapped by my...
Pros: great bread and treats, quality meals, good set up and atmosphere Cons: restaurant cold, bread doesn't stay fresh really long (as there are NO PRESERVATIVES!), meals a little costly
Panera is the best bakery around! Everything is fresh and is rather inexpensive (I mean as far as the bread goes, the food is a little expensive, although far worth it)! Variety abounds, and everything is of the same high quality. Another great part...
Pros: Awesome Bagels, and excellent Sandwiches Cons: None...
We have a Panera bread right across the street from the high school I teach at. To get business, Panera gave the staff free bagels on the mornings we had meetings. It was a smart move, because we are all hooked now!
Pros: Great Food, Great Drinks etc Cons: Trendy and Overpriced
From the succulant bagels, to the fresh bread, gourmet brewed coffee, and mouth-watering sandwiches Panera Bread is without competition. It is a far-cry from the traditional sandwich-oriented such as Subway or Blimpies. They use their own fresh...
Pros: Delicious food--sandwiches and bagels Cons: mostly "nouveaux" selection
A little over a year ago, I would have two choices for eating before seeing a movie at my local theater: wait on the long lines at the not-that-good-anyway TGIFriday's or try to squeeze in a bite before leaving my house. Around that time, however, an...
Pros: Delicious and varied selections Cons: Self - Serve
One thing I really hate about being on the Atkins diet is NOT going to Panera Bread. The first one of three opened in my area last year. We have eaten in the comfortably casual cafe a number of times, and ordered our favorite breads to take home...
Pros: Great coffee, bread and bagels.. Cons: Early close, poorly trained help
The Panera in my town is one of our newest restaurants, having opened about a month ago. I think I've been there three times a week since then. Panera fits well between the two coffee shops we have in town. The first is a very casual up-north lodge...
Pros: atmosphere, menu variety Cons: a bit expensive
When meeting an old friend from high school for lunch, we decided to try the new Panera Bread. It was new to both of us, and we agreed, it was an excellent choice.

Pros: wonderful variety of delicious food and classy decor Cons: a little overpriced

Pros: Great food from good price Cons: Sometimes long lines

I go to Panera every one in a while when I have quite a bit of money in my pocket. The reason for this is, the food is good and the atmosphere is good, however the prices are over the top of what I usually like to pay for a good sandwich or a bagel with...
Pros: Unique, extensive menu and delicious food Cons: Usually crowded
When a friend took me to Panera's for lunch recently, it was an instant love affair...with the restaurant, that is! The only problem you have when you go there is that everything looks and sounds so good that you must agonize over your menu selection!...
Pros: good bagels and coffee and atmosphere Cons: wish they had more variety of flavored coffees
Panera Breads recently opened in my town. A friend and I have been looking for a nice place to hang out on Tuesday nights, so we decided to try Panera. I'm very glad we did.

Pros: Incredible bread Cons: long line at lunchtime

Pros: The Bagels are Outstanding Cons: Some of the Cream Cheese Spreads
Panera Bread is a bakery-café with locations across the American Mid-west, South and East Coast. Many of the cafés had the original title of the Saint Louis Bread Co., and mainly in Missouri they still do. Regardless of their name, the few locations that...
Pros: Fresh food, Decent Prices, Quaint Atmosphere Cons: Long Lines
Is this a cafe, a bakery, or a coffee house? Actually, it's all of the above and my idea of "fast food". These franchise stores are located throughout the United States in major cities and I know of two in the central Ohio area.
Pros: Food tastes good. Cons: Overpriced, small portions
When Panera bread first came on the scene a few years ago, they served good food and it was a good value. More recently though, they have raised their prices to the point to where its too expensive for what you get. Their pick 2 (soup and sandwich) with a soda came to $9.50 with tax! And the sandwich is relatively small and contains very little meat. The soups are delicious, but again the portion size is not that good. Like most restaurants, you pay $1.60 for 5 cents worth of soda. I can go to any number of sub shops near me and get a 7" or 8" sub, with WAY MORE meat and fixings on it, for way less than what Panera charges! The other day we got 3 Turkey subs plus drinks for $19. The same meal at Panera would have been close to $30.
over priced & uninspiring sandwiches by db104103 ,Mar 02 '09
Pros: Nice atmosphere Cons: over-priced, slow service, small portions and uninspiring snandwhiches and "paninis"
I took a date to Panera the other night and all I could think about during the meal was how I just paid 16 dollars for a turkey sandwhich, an ice water, and a salad. I had the smokehouse turkey "panini" (the sandwhich with fake grill lines on it thus qualifying it as a panini) which tased like it had been made an hour ago. The bread was soggy and the cheese was cold. My vegitarian date had a chicken salad without chicken and still was able to assist in racking up a grand total of 16 dollars. I think I see a 5 dollar foot long in my furture.
Be careful with 'loyalty cards' by steveandliz ,Dec 07 '08
Pros: Good bread and bagel selection Cons: Did not honor customer loyalty card
I had been a happy customer of the three Panera's in Dayton, Ohio for several years. So much so, I used their card wherein if you buy eight dozen bagels (getting a stamp each time), you get one dozen free. Easy enough. When I went to buy my last dozen, I was told the program had been cancelled, and I missed the deadline by 60 days. So, I spoke to the manager and even wrote to the company... no luck (bla bla "...ebay fraud..."..."...thank you for being a valued customer...") -- I think not any more.
So, it's clear their customer loyalty ends when you hand them the cash.
Pros: Well not a good customer service overall. Cons: I don't think I will go back again!
If you ever walk in or make phone call order at Panera in Southland Drive, Hayward, CA, do...do...count and check your stuff before you left. I went there yesterday to pick up phone order of 3 sandwiches and 10 cookies. I didn't realize they didnt' stuff in the cookies into the bag. I took trip back to get the cookies. And again I didn't check the box. End up I only got 9 cookies and all cookies were in very soft condition. In addition to that, some cookies were broken into pieces!
I ordered a "Four Cheese Egg Souffle" at Panera Bread this morning. While it didn't taste bad, and it was filling, it was quite bland. If it wasn't for the name, I'd never have known there was cheese in it at all.
Pros: there's nothing I can do to get Panera pay that money, neither get apologies Cons: well I just can tell that good food should come with good service
Well, Panera Bread , one of everybody's favorit places, good food and healthy, but this place has a big service issues. The other day I ordered something to pick up and I asked my friend to pick it up for me, when she got there, she had to wait 20 minutes on top of the time they said it will be ready, so when she finally got my order and got back to her car , she got a ticket cause she parked at 15 minutes parking spot....
Paneras reduced size bagels out by atlrocks5 ,Oct 03 '08
Pros: Great taste still, for now. Cons: Much smaller product for same price
Anyone bought a bagel pack lately? It's like they are mini bagels. Sent a note to corp pr and they said "We apologize if they seem smaller to you. Our Quality Assurance > Department said the test is to produce a healthier product > with better nutritional values." IOW ...smaller bagels, less calories, same price.Have they jumped the shark? It's a tough market out there, just be honest and we will still buy your product.
Pros: Broccoli Cheddar Soup Cons: price of desserts
I love this place. My husband and I can go to Panera Bread and pay the same as we would at McDonald's and it's healthy. We're truly full when we leave and we're happier.
Pros: none Cons: who ever heard of charging for a condiment?
My last visit to the Panera in Wilmette, Illinois I ordered the vegetable soup. When they served it I asked for a few sprinkles of Parmesan cheese on top. The store manager named Mike told me I would have to go back in line and pay $.65 for the sprinkles and that it was corporate policy.
Ive never heard of such a thing. In all my 58 years, Ive eaten in just about every kind of restaurant all over the world and if they had Parmesan, no one ever asked me to pay for it.
bipolar in the whole store in panera bread the people are rude to.. by erasmus46 ,Nov 26 '07
Pros: nothing . Everything is just terrible. \people there think their jocks with stuck up attitudes. Cons: bipolardisorderThe people have this illness but they dont know that everything has costs.
bipolar disorder people, and bad managers. The people there are rude to the coustomers, and are very bad at what they do. their rude. The people there need to wake up, and smell the coffee.
Pros: "Pick Two" is best deal.Turkey Bravo Sandwich, Greek Salad, Breakfast Souffles, Coffees, & Bagels. Cons: Constantly run out of breakfast souffles Sunday mornings. Flatbread pizzas are very "skimpy".
My wife and I love Panera's...quality food at fair prices...excellent coffee..classical music..free wi-fi..great atmosphere...try the breakfast souffles (they can be very habit-forming). Our Panera's in Glastonbury CT seems to attract ALL ages and is family-friendly. Teens even use it as a date place at night. Has a fireplace going on chilly days.
My wife and I visited the new Panera Bread bakery as part of our Valentine's Day celebration, but it was not a pleasant dining experience.
Although the line was short and there were two employees at the register, the service was very slow. Much slower than I would have expected, given the conditions.
Our orders were not correct; we both ordered soup in the bread bowls, but both were served in regular bowls. The staff quickly fixed this error, though.
We were not impressed by the condition of the seating area, as there was a lot of debris on the floor and few tables were clean. Perhaps it was a busy day, we could forgive this.
Finally, when I was bussing the materials from our table, I discovered that the trays on which our food had been served were filthy. Underneath the paper liner there was slimy goop, and chunks of the previous diner's meal. Needless to say we were both disgusted, we will never eat there again, and we will warn our friends away too.
Way Over Priced (And terrible pizza) by sukhoi27ru ,Jan 10 '07
Pros: Really cannot think of a Pro. Cons: Over priced, under valued, and not very tasty.
Stopped by a nearby Panera Bread store with a "free loaf" coupon in my sweaty hands. I chose the sesame seed and noticed that the regular price was $2.99. Went home, ate 2 slices with my dinner and realized that Central Market has better bread, more variety, and a lot cheaper. In addtition the size of the Panera bread was about 2/3's of a Central Market loaf.
Also had a coupon for a "free Crispino Pizza". Ordered the pepperoni and was totally disappointed. I have eaten frozen pizzas that were a better value and tastier. Several years ago I was in Irkutsk, Russia (Eastern Siberia) and was given a cheese pizza with mayonaise! The Russian pizza was better! Never again will I darken the doors of a Panera Bread Store. They are way, way overpriced for what they serve. My pizza had 2 small pieces of pepperoni on it.
I am somewhat of a frugal person and demand value for my money. No way does this place offer any value for your buck.
Crispanis are soggy and taste like cafeteria pizza by andrewsilk ,Oct 31 '06
Pros: the bread, sandwiches, soups, souffley free internet and a bottomless cup of coffee Cons: the panini sucks, very few coupons, and not always the best customer service.
While every item on the menu at panera rocks, there is one exception. the crispani leaves much to be desired and is not up to par like the rest of the menu which is stellar. i'd love to come and do dinner there more often, but they are going to have to scrap the crispani and start over with something that wows. save ur money and get a soup and sandwich.
It only SOUNDS healthy - watch the SODIUM! by wakeupnfly ,Oct 13 '06
Pros: Tasty food, convenient, good coffee, nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Cons: Not as healthy or clean as at 1st. glance.
See nutritional info on website!
I have been eating at the local Panera for a couple of years now, and like the food and atmosphere. However,I got curious about the real health value of the food at Panera Bread. I watch fat, cholesterol, carbs & SODIUM.
I looked at the Panera website and after searching long and hard, found their nutritional info. The "healthy" soups, including the low fat and veggie ones, still contain lots of SODIUM. The sandwiches are amazingly high in fat and sodium! Some over 2000 - 3000 mg. Except for the cholesterol levels, you would be better off eating a Whopper from B.K. (I wouldn't tho!)
Also, I took a look at the clear chute on the ice machine one day and saw lots of nasty black stuff on the inside. I told the counter person, and they had a girl clean the chute. Just wonder what is on the inside of the ice bin!!
Pros: Free wireless. Many locations. Cons: An odd feeling of sameness in taste regardless what's ordered.
Panera is OK. And some we've been to have fabulous customer service. But as others here have mentioned, things tend to taste the same, regardless of what we were eating - turkey tasted like tuna tasted like ham... maybe it was the bread, maybe it was having the same sides on each visit. Or maybe it's all in our head. Regardless it's a very weird sensation that we can't say we experience anywhere else.
We would not go so far as to say the bread is fabulous. It's not really artisan quality - it's good, but the rustic breads are missing a toothiness quality we like from local bakers and we find the crumb on the baguettes too tight. But the bread we've order for sandwiches has been far better than Subway's "in store baked" and certainly bread from Quiznos.
So bread is good. Coffee not so much... then again no chain gets espresso or cappuccinos right.
All in all, when we're traveling, we prefer to try local places, not chains, so we don't search out Panera. But it's nice to know they're around when we need free wireless and a fresh muffin.
mixed feelings about this chain by raejgar ,Jun 08 '06
Pros: bread samples, variety of sandwiches, cleanliness of restaurant Cons: extremely overpriced kid's meals, declining quality
I think they were better when they were new. Although we are pretty loyal customers, I have to say the quality has been dropping of late. The bread is always pretty good, but
sandwiches are getting skimpier on the meat. The sandwiches seem to be mostly bread. The kid's meals, which are only $1
less than a regular sandwich are ridiculously tiny. Probably
not enough food for anyone over 5. Wouldn't be too bad and they'd be making a profit on these at $2.50, at $4.50 they are definitely a scam. My daughter also claims the pickles
could be a lot better.
Pros: Thank goodness for the coupon. Cons: I thought it was a bit pricey for a small loaf of bread.
I was given a coupon, so I decided to try Panera's. I received a loaf of bread with any purchase. So I picked the semolina with sesame and a cheese bagel. I admit that both were wonderful. Wish I could find more coupons.
Pros: Taste is okay, convenience is okay. People are nice. Cons: Price is too high especially since there is no table service.
Panera is okay. I was not terribly impressed with it. The restaurant I ate in was clean and the food was okay. The bread is good but I can get similar products elsewhere for lower prices. If one only wants a loaf or two of bread or pastries to go it is better than if one wants a sandwich or something in the restaurant itself. Either way it is over priced by about a buck per product. Serving oneself is okay if the price is low but Panera is not low priced and so table service would be better. I give it 2 stars.
Great for a breakfast on the go! by sunriseok ,Jan 13 '06
Pros: Warm atmosphere, quick and friendly service, nice variety, delicious food, free refills Cons: end up spending more than you plan!
Panera bread exceeded our expectations for healthy, great tasting food! The restaurant was really clean and the staff very friendly. We were provided with some samples to taste the different cream cheeses while we were making our breakfast decisions. We ended up leaving with bagels and cream cheese to take back to our family! Nice variety of flavors of breads, fabulous smell in the restaurant! Unique pastries that were quite tasty as well (we sampled many different items!)
Panera Bread Franchise...lets me down by kman33 ,Sep 13 '05
Pros: I do like that get a quick cup of coffee thing. Cons: Give me a small mom and pop coffee shop with homemade pastries anytime.
If you can get by the long line while waiting for your number to be read after you first waited at the order desk, you might enjoy Paneras'. Or once you are waited upon and have your order, finding that illusive place to sit may give you pause. Then you might notice how expensive your meal was and wonder why you didn't go to that small neighborhood restaurant that would have actually sent a waiter or waitress to your table.
On top of everything else, check out the number of calories in that so called healthy meal you just purchased. You might think it was good for you and you would be wrong.
The one bright spot of Paneras' is the freshly baked bread, but you're going to have to eat a lot of it to make up for the wait, bland atmosphere and expense.
Pros: Everything about Panera is excellent! Cons: Nothing about Panera is poor!
Panera Bread is truly the epitome of the perfect restaurant-the food quality is very high, sanitation and cleanliness is maintained thoroughly, staff members are friendly, attentive and knowledgeable, lavatories are easily accessible, seating is comfy and the overall atmosphere is especially charming. The Fuji Apple salad is scrumptious and very rewarding for an exhausting day. Also, the Sierra Turkey is quite exceptional. Compliment it with an I.C. beverage, and an orange scone for dessert for a taste-worthy meal!
First Time Was Awesome! by staciaclark ,May 08 '05
Pros: Great variety in salads, sandwiches, desserts, and drinks. Cons: Need more low card offerings.
This was my first time at Panera and that only by accident. My mom and I were rushed for time and had to pick someplace close and quick. When we walked in and saw the line almost to the door, we almost walked out! But the line moved so quickly, it was my turn to order before I had even made up my mind!
Boy, were we glad we ended up at Panera! I had the Greek salad and Asiago Roast Beef sandwich. It was the best I've had in a long time. The salad was fresh and crisp. They even had low carb bread for me, a LC eater. My mom had the chicken Ceasar salad (of course, I had to have a bite.) I didn't know of half a sandwich and half a salad would be enough but I definitely got my fill.
I can't wait to go again!
New Style, New Face, Great Taste by spidey5991 ,Apr 12 '05
Pros: great soup, salad, sandwiches:calm atmosphere: Wonderful bakery with coffee of all sorts: friendly environment Cons: Panera's are usually filled to the brim with people.
Panera Bread has always been a great place to eat. There salads aren't just your typical salad, they went all out. I love eating their Greek salads. I went to a Greek festival and had a salad. Panera's is much better, and they're American. There sandwiches are also very good. The Turkey Artichoke is my favorite sandwich. One bite and I'm in heaven. It just seems to have all the right flavors that fill your mouth with a vast number of pleasureful tastes. Panera is a great place to work on a college essay or homework. A great place to take the family, or even a great place to cut that business deal. I've never had a bad experience in Panera Bread and that is why I speak so highly of them.
Pros: Comfortable space and quiet atmosphere Cons: Not enough chocolate on the menu!
I am at Panera Bread on Airport Boulevard in Mobile, Alabama every Tuesday night for a ladies get together. They have always been so kind and never rush us out. Not only that, their menu provides a little something for everyone. Thank you Panera!
Good, cheap and sometimes healthy lunch option by dipo ,Feb 01 '05
Pros: Cheap, fast, healthy options available. Cons: Some items pricey (but you can avoid them), pastries nauseatingly sweet, service can be rude.
I tend to prefer independent restaurants, but i must say that at lunchtime Panera hits the spot. While not all the options are super healthy (but you can check their nutritional values online), it is up to you to pick the low-fat salad dressing over the greasy yummy sandwich. A bagel with low fat cream cheese is a lunch I'd pick over McDonald any time. I do not especially like their pastries, tho: they are way too sweet. Also, at the Pittsburgh, Oakland store they have the annoying habit of mixing the cream cheese scoops. The result is that sometimes your honey walnut cream cheese has an unwelcome oniony flavor. Service is sometimes friendly and sometimes downright rude, but that I can live with.
Panera, quality food fast by candyloverz ,Nov 06 '04
Pros: Panera is conveniently located and It has great food that I love. Cons: Sometimes the service can be slow and I have had my order mixed up before.
I was introduced to Panera by my friend who absolutely loves the place. Now we stop into Panara often to pick up the cinnamon crunch bagels, I believe that these are the best bagels I have ever had and I buy many at a time and take them to school. I also love to order the "U pick 2" deal and I order the grilled chicken caesar salad with chicken noodle soup. I really enjoy the bread you get with each meal. Panera has a great selection of soups, salads, and sandwiches along with bagels and many other treats. I can always rely on getting a good meal at Panera bread. Panera is conveniently located close to were I live and it is no trouble stopping in to get a good meal, that I always enjoy.
Pros: Service and food quality Cons: Often crowded
I have visited Panera's 3 times for lunch. The service is consistently good and polite. The food is fresh and a good value for the price. The store is often very crowded and yet I don't seem to have to wait too long for service or delivery.
AKA - St. Louis Bread Company by mstygar ,Nov 18 '03
Pros: Ambiance, selection, and quality all earn an A+. Cons: My boyfriend is a "big eater" and portions are too small for him.
I live in St. Louis and know Panera as the "St. Louis Bread Company". They are identical though, from what I understand. It's the place to do lunch and a carb addict's dream come true. More creative sandwiches and comforting soups then other places I've found. Many reviewers make mention of the "pricey" meals. Those people must consider that a quality meal costs more then what $3.99 and a drive through will get you.
Sorry Mom-Your Chicken Noodle Has nothing on them!! by dd3311 ,Nov 09 '03
Pros: Chicken Soup at it's best-Bread to die for!!!Simply Divine! Cons: May be hard to find a seat-but well worth the wait!
I could just wish this place was closer to work! But it is worth the drive just for the soup and bread. This place is an untapped goldmine for those of you who have not indulged! I thought it was just a bakery, but how wrong I was. The sandwiches are great and made to order-pair it with one of their soups and bliss begins! I listen to people rave, but until you try it you have no idea how wonderful this place is. The prices are a little high, but compared to what you pay for fast food-this is WORTH IT!! The soup and half-sandwich meal is filling, and yes, great tasting!! You just can't go wrong here whether you are alone or with a group,it's all good.Food and atmosphere get the big thumbs up!Try it once and you'll be back!
