Pros: None Cons: Everything
I flew on a sister company of Alaska Airlines called Horizon Airlines from Billings, Montana to Seattle, Washington. My destination was San Diego, California. I had to switch planes in Seattle. When I switched planes in Seattle, I was put on an Alaska...

Pros: Friendly crew, clean cabins, all around great environment. Cons: Not many destinations, never any in-flight movies.
Recently, many people may be hesitant to fly Alaska Airlines because of it's streak of bad luck. I assure you Alaska Airlines still maintains it's reputation of quality. It's the media that makes people skeptical. not the airline itself. Alaska...

Pros: Cheap, Cheap, Cheap Cons: Expensive Form of Suicide
In the past few months we have all been made well aware of the recent "problems" of Alaska Airlines. Some may say that two crashes in this year alone suggest that this airline is not as safe as others but I don't think that a lack of regard...

Pros: Great Customer Service, Comfortable Ride Cons: Doesn't Go To Final Destination
Alaska Airlines has always been my choice for flying. Their prices have been the best for my family.
My first experience flying with Alaska was considered "Excellent." I felt that customer service was "over and above" the norm....

Pros: Friendly flight attendants Cons: Loud engines, planes are very tiny and in need of repair, slow
I receintly flew from Portland, OR to Vancouver, B.C. and back again on Alaska Airlines partner Horizen Air. I'm a nervous flyer, I always have been. It's not the fear of dying that gets to me, it's the thought of falling 20,000 feet before I die that...

Terrible Airline
by jaguarman ,Feb 24 '07
Pros: Pilots seem competent Cons: Everything else; almost always late; frequently lose bags
Alaska used to be a great airline--40 years ago! F fly on them 2-3 times a month. They are almost always late departing. They lose my bags about 40% of the time. Many times my seat smells like baby powder, etc, like the seat covers are never cleaned. On one flight SEA-ANC was completely full, one of only two rear lavs worked---and the flight attendants never thought to offer pax near the front that they could use the first class lav. All first class seats have very little leg room--less than the exit row seats, and the seat cushions are too long which makes it very uncomfortable for short people. The food in First Class, when there is any, is a joke. The hot sandwich they used to serve in coach was gross, now you can't even buy a hot sandwich. Bring your own meals!

The new bottom of the barrel.
by hanuman67 ,Dec 28 '06
Pros: Cheap sometimes. Cons: Poor on time performance, lost bags, spiritless and unhelpful employees.
Two one hour flights in four days and the delays total 15 hours and rising with no end in sight. Mechanical problems.
That happens but what is inexcusable is the total lack of information and even the pretense of courtesy from Alaska personnel. They really just don't care. Perhaps it's because they are so used to mechanical problems that one more infinitely delayed plane with no information or plan is just another day at the office.
I've flown well over a million miles and Alaska gets my vote as the current bottom of the barrel for airlines. It's a shame. It used to be a lot better.

Not worthy of the name
by fishjake ,Jan 30 '07
Pros: Better than the alternative... Oh wait, there isn't one. Cons: Mostly that bit between buying the ticket and landing.
Growing up in Southeast Alaska, I've been hostage to Alaska Airlines all my life. That didn't used to be such a bad thing - they had smoked almonds, complimentary wine, friendly staff and pilots who managed to get you there. Mostly, they just actually seemed like an Alaskan airline, where nobody blinked when you tried to check a dead animal. They understood that they were a crucial service for so many people. Now, I wish the state could take the name back. The fares to Alaska have gotten out-of-hand ($600 for a 2-hour flight!?) and every aspect of their service just plain sucks (but that seems pretty well documented elsewhere). Chalk it all up to corporate culture, where profit is more important than anything human...

I HEART ALASKA
by rdreyer35 ,May 21 '08
Pros: Customer Service Cons: None...so far.
Best airlines flying today. Customer service both flight attendants and over the phone reservation agents. This is absolutely unheard of in today's market. I have changed flights, rebooked flights, requested custom meals never an issue. I am a strict vegetarian which they do not offer meals for, so the flight attendant put together all the veg items available in first and coach. Come on, who would do that on any other airline. Best part....Southwest Airline Customer Service with First Class availability. I will never fly another airline (their codeshare program is awesome)!
Thanks Alaska!!!

separating minors from parents?
by sonnysmom ,Apr 06 '08
Pros: none. got from one place to another safely. Cons: rude flight attendants, separated a minor child from parent
Me and my son flew from Las Vegas to Seattle via Alaska. When we boarded I was surprised to see me and my son were sitting in different spots! The plane was full and I did not think switching seats with someone was an option. I was furious! Not too mention when the flight attendants asked me what I wanted to drink I asked her what they had and she snapped at me and said... well we have everything, what do you want? I then ordered for and my son, which even further aggravated her but I didnt want her snapping at him when he wouldn't be sure what to order! I will never fly Alaska airlines again since they separate minors from their parents! what if something happened and no one was there to help him?? Also they had offered a snack pack and my son had wanted one, so I was going to and when they came around the flight attendants didn't even offer it as an option!
