Pros: Free tickets are quick, easy redemption Cons: AirTran doesn't serve the whole country
AirTran has it figured out. They really understand what folks want in a frequent flyer program- a quicker way to earn free tickets!!
Since my husband travels often for business and we have family living 1,500 miles away, we do a lot of...

Pros: can't think of one Cons: read below
The worst experience flying ever. I did a round trip from fort lauderdale to charlotte with stops in ATL on the way and Baltimore on the way back. The flight up, we were delayed at at both. Once arriving to charlotte on time, we sat on the run way for 30 ...

Flight Credits
by timbo12 ,Jul 19 '04
Pros: A bit easier to qualify for a free flight Cons: Credits expire according to the post date, only one year.
Your credits are only good for 1 year from the post date, so that's a big downside if you don't travel very often. It is in the fine print, of course. Also check their math when you do a redemption. I was recently over-charged by 1 credit.

Read the Fine Print
by yosi2 ,Apr 17 '08
Pros: none Cons: everything
Can I give this zero stars? I won't bore you with all the details. Suffice to say, the rewards are basically useless. I cannot find a flight that doesn't have "capacity controls." (Seats available, but not for vouchers!!) Since business seats were available, I tried to use points to upgrade my vouchers so I could actually use them. Nope--couldn't do that either. I moved to a city that Air Tran doesn't serve, but I couldn't combine my vouchers with points to fly Frontier, although it equalled the right amount of points. Was misled as to how many points I would be receiving per dollar spent. Was told to book flight by March 4--called on March 3 and was told I had to travel by March 4 (that entire voucher was basically discarded.) The points promised do not show up on your account for an extraordinary amount of time. Completely worthless.

Don't bother
by hzenotrobe ,Aug 13 '05
Pros: Airport staff and flight crews are usually very good to deal with. Cons: Lousy availability of certificate and A Plus rewards seats
I have flown Airtran almost 100% of the time over the past 3 years and have on several occasions attempted to use A Plus rewards mileage. There never seems to be a flight that fits my schedule, even when booking 2-3 months in advance. I fly weekly and understand the "system". However, I've had enough. It's time to start flying another carrier.
I'm very frustrated with this situation. I have had numerous good experiences with Airtran. However, the A Plus rewards program is not one of them.

Airtran Rates A in my book
by kimberp ,Feb 08 '06
Pros: Friendly, pleasant, helpful, didn't lose luggage, on time Cons: None
I just completed a round-trip flight from Houston to Ft Myers with layovers in Atlanta each way. Both the ground and flight crews were helpful and pleasant. The flight from Atlanta was overbooked and my coach seat was double-booked but after a few minutes of investigation I was bumped up to Business class. Even though we were 30 minutes late leaving Atlanta on the outbound flight we were only 5 minutes late arriving in Ft Myers, all other flights were a little early. I highly recommend Airtran.

Very disappointed !
by jansy ,Nov 15 '06
Pros: No pros that I can think of. Cons: Too many to list.
When I signed up for the AirTran Credit Card I was lead to believe that by signing up & then booking one round trip flight, I would have enough points for a free round trip ticket. That didn't happen. Furthermore, the finance charge on the card is way above the average.
