Pros: Not just for seniors, the line is so diverse and active now. Cons: Almost none...if you are a TV junkie, bring a mini-for your room.
Feel the River's Rhythm Mississippi Queen Swings starting in 2005 "The steamboats were finer than anything on shore ... like palaces." Mark Twain, Life on the Mississippi The rivers of our great nation are always changing ...

Pros: Historic, relaxing Cons: Too slow-paced for many people
As a former Chief Purser of this vessel perhaps I'm a bit biased, but I'll try to be objective.
Delta Queen Steamboat Company is the BEST at doing what it does ... providing overnight cruise experiences in the heart of America. With the most...

Pros: Great fun and a great learning experience. Cons: Not for the active. A laid back experience.
My wife and I just completed a six night cruise and completely enjoyed ourselves. Boat holds slightly over 400 and we had 360. Weather was hot (but is to be expected in the South in August) which restricted our outside activities, but were able to sit ...

Pros: None Cons: We were taken.

Pros: Boat, Crew, Food Cons: No scenery

mississippi queen and delta queen
by iamdrdoz ,Jun 28 '06
Pros: Evening food and entertainment as good as any. Nice way to see the country. Cons: Company poorly organized which affects all operations. confliciting info from brochure, website, company contacts
Marginal. poor communication by company and conflicting information. boat left earlier than we were told so didnt get a chance to see city we started from. the "heated pool" was shut off 2 days early- not a good idea in november in TN. even after the assured us it would be rectified, it wasnt. Welcome "buffett" was cold cuts- that is not my idea of a buffet. Kids program needs as infusion of enthusiasm/energy/ideas as was minimally entertaining for kids. Food in evenings was top notch as was entertainment for the size of the ship. But breakfast was monotonous. staff overall was friendly, but the company itself seems to need a customer service overhall. The exec's at the company need to try the cruise as anonymous passengers.. from booking to the end. maybe then they would learn. Shore excursions not well explained and need better attempts to get older folks off the boat. A shame because this cruise has lots of unrealized potential.
