Pros: excellent food, excellent Italian People, family oriented people, good transit system, great trains Cons: Dangerous Romani gypsies, Yugoslav gypsies, pickpockets, cops who condone pickpockets.
I went to Rome in January 2001, I was quite unprepared for the hordes of displaced Balkans/Slavic Romani Gypsies who have now swarmed into Italy, France, and Spain.
These highly desperate people will prey on the average John Q.Tourist. They...

Pros: beautiful, a lot to do and see Cons: a little too touristy
I visited Rome during the month of July. It was extremely hot. I would recommend to go during a coller month becuase you will be walking a lot. There is no way to get bored in Rome. There are so many things to experience that you would need at least a...

Pros: It's Rome! It's all Pro! Cons: Lots to see. Try to plan a few days.
My husband & I along with 2 other couples, took a 12 night cruise on the Carnival Freedom in May 2008. We flew non-stop from JFK on Eurofly & were pleasantly surprised with good service & a friendly staff. I had ...

Pros: The history and art in this city are immense and almost heavenly. Cons: Rome can become crowded and expensive...but it's worth it.
Rome, Italy is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Along with touring the rest of Italy, we spent 7 days in Rome for World Youth Day. At this Catholic conference there were an estimated number of 6 million extra people in Rome for over a...

Pros: great sites and historical attractions, monuments, history, culture Cons: not quite as awe inspiring as you would hope
Rome is probably one of the most influential cities of history. That being said, there are a great many things to see while in Rome. Sights such as the coliseum, the forum, and the Vatican City are all things which should be seen at least once in...

Pros: You can experience Rome's major sights in one day. Cons: You miss some of the lesser-known sights.
It may be hard to believe, but I managed to give my friends a very thorough tour of Rome in one day. We hit most of the major hotspots and tourist attractions, plus a couple of non-tourist locations. So, here it is, your very own Rome in a day...

Pros: Clean, comfortable, fast railways Cons: Thievery
As the saying goes, "When in Rome, do as the Romans do" is not only an understatement but is a necessary. Having been born in Italy, I know firsthand on the ins and outs of traveling in and around Italy.
Naturally, if you speak...

Pros: Rich in culture, history, and sights Cons: Crowded and touristy
Italy is one of the more "touristy" places I've visited, and this is especially true in Rome. Nevertheless, I believe that there are many sights that cannot be missed in this city.
Although the Coliseum is crawling with tourists...

Pros: A lot of wonderful sites Cons: Not enough time, possible pickpockets, lots of people
On our trip to Europe last summer, we only had a day to see all of the sites in Rome. There was so much to see and I think we managed to see it all. If we would not have had my uncle's brother as our tour guide, I'm not sure we could have found all of...

Pros: Spectacular beauty! Cons: too many people at times, hold on to your pocketbooks
We heard the sounds of the flowing water before we actually saw the Fontana Di Trevi, or Trevi Fountain, as we Westerners call it. Neptune stands out as the center of this beautiful fountain. Above him on the left, is a setting depicting...

Pros: Excellent food, good service Cons: Smoky after 9pm
After walking on "screaming legs" around many corners, zig-zagging here and there, we finally found La Campana, and went in for a dinner of artichokes - the best in town, served with the long stem, which was very tender. The zucchini was also...

Pros: Architecturally perfect Cons: Difficult to photograph without a very wide-angle lens
The Parthenon is one of the most architecturally perfect structures in the world, and of the most difficult buildings to find in Rome, and certainly to photograph, because you can't get far enough away to get the whole thing in a normal camera lens....

Pros: Rome's parks and it's bohemian quarter Cons: not enough time to see all the splendor of Rome
In a city where Renaissance masterpieces compete with endless treasure from antiquity, Rome is much more than a city overflowing with art and architecture. It's a bustling city that offers immense charm and, yes, endless treasure.
Any...

Pros: history, lots to do, pizza, architecture Cons: polution
Rome, the city of eternity. I was there in May of 1999, where I kicked off my vacation. I spent 4 days there and I didn't see half of the amazing historical sites. Upon arriving, I immediately headed for Hotel Piccolo near the Jewish Getto area(by the...
