Pros: culturally rich, beautiful, similar to European landmarks, fairly uncrowded, cheap, gorgeous historic art nouveau train station Cons: Russian amenities [bad restaurant food, horrid bathrooms, crowded transport], lots of bugs, hard to orient oneself
It was this last June that I visited the suburb of Pushkin in the greater St.Petersburg area. As with most of these Czar-era suburbs, it is a good idea to reserve the whole day for exploration [if not also the overnight].
