Bermuda is a beautiful island, but if you are going there to get a"feel for the Caribbean", then try a different island. It is far too affluent to have any resemblance to the other islands I have been to. While the beaches are fine, my...
Pros: Off-Season Nov-Feb Manageable on a budget Cons: The only Con is that our trip had to end!
Just returned from a short stay in Bermuda. Celebrating 10 years of marriage and we could not have chosen a more perfect location. Grape Bay Beach Hotel ( formerly White Sands Hotel)in Paget parish was exceptional. Everyone we encountered on our vacation was polite, helpful and a pleasure to talk with. Crystal Caves is a must and just around the corner is the Rum Swizzle Inn..try the famous Bermudian cocktail.. you won't regret it. (Eat upstairs, outside)The buses are the only way to travel if you are on a budget. 3 day pass/$23.00 includes ferry service as well.
Take in the beaches at Church Bay and Horseshoe Bay and Stonehole Bay..pink sand abounds. What else can I say..no pollution..very little crime..amazing people, great history..high literacy rate Go to Bermuda..Go Often!
Pros: Weather, abundance of activities Cons: Can be mucho $$$$
This was one of the best times I have ever had. We took a 1 week Princess cruise in August. We rented a moped, and cruised the island. The entire time we were there, the sky was clear blue. Snorkeling is especially great here, since the coral reef makes it very difficult for sharks to enter the bay. The pink beaches are truly one of the most beautiful sites ever. The water was like bath water - 90 degrees at least, being it was August. The fish we saw when snorkeling were amazing, and seemed to be totally unafraid of people, so we had plenty of underwater shots up close and personal.
A kayak tour was a great thing to do a workout and a tons of fun as we learned about Bermudas ecosystem. We also toured the perfumery on the island, as well as learned a lot of history about settler and ship wrecks. In St. George, we went to a festival where we watch a reenactment of someone walking the plank.
This trip was just the 2 of us, but I could see Bermuda being totally kid-friendly, albeit expensive.
