Schweitzer is a legend!!!

by Emilio , Feb 27 '02
Pros: Great snow, tree skiing, powder, out-of-this-world views, night skiing, ski-in/ ski-out!
Cons: Sometimes foggy, a bit remote.
Schweitzer Mountain is a legend still in the making. Located in northern Idaho, it is an undiscovered jewel, especially for intermediate, advanced and expert skiers. Oh beginners have nothing to worry about either. There is world-class beginner terrain...

Schweitzer not a bad choice

by highwei , Nov 15 '99
Pros: Big Mountain, 1 high speed quad, versatile level of runs
Cons: foggy, icy, ski school
I have to say that Schweitzer has a resort type of atmosphere which is refreshing in the Inland Northwest. The mountain is comparably large and the high speed quad is very nice although lines do get long or if it's broken then there is no high speed...

Surprisingly great!

by Anntex , Feb 19 '00
Pros: Quiet & Empty, Small, but not too small
Cons: Quite a way from the south
I did not know about Schweitzer until I got a condo there (with www.skyauction.com, but this is an other story) and I can highly recommend it. Nice empty slopes, lot's of different conditions (fog, heavy snow, sun) in one week and great fun. Small places...

A Run for Everyone

by gavran8 , Jan 29 '00
Pros: good terrain, condos
Cons: bad weather, occasional long lift lines
Schweitzer is not a well known resort but it is definitely awesome. Some of the terrain their is very extreme. Although it has some hard terrain their is also terrain that is geared for the beginner. Schweitzer also has a high speed quad which helps...

Best Kept Secret

by jamie_birch , Jan 21 '00
Pros: great runs
Cons: sometimes long lines on quad
Schweitzer is Idaho's best kept secret. This ski resort recently completed a restoration of its facilities and has done a fine job. With an more than adequate selection of runs for skiers of all skill levels and lodges on both north and south bowls,...

Powder and Paradise

by wazzucoug , Oct 31 '00
Pros: recent expansion, high speed lifts, reasonable costs, short lift lines
Cons: none - excellent all around for a great ski weekend
I started visiting Sandpoint about 15 years ago and my family decided to build a ski home there. We spend a great deal of time there every winter, including Christmas. There is terrain to accomidate all skill levels. They have been expanding over the...

The incredible Schweitzer Mountain

by setasail , Jun 14 '06
Pros: Very fun place and has good views.
Cons: Gets sort of foggy.
Schweitzer Mountain is a great mountain because there is beginner, intermediate, and advance styles. There are really easy slopes, not too hard slopes, and really hard slopes. At Schweitzer there are two bowls, the south bowl, and the north bowl. The ...

The perfect weekend getaway

by rissaclar , Jan 26 '00
Pros: wonderful view, long runs
Cons: cost, far away
Schweitzer has provided me with some of the some of the best skiing experiences I have had. This huge resort is not near any big cities and infact it's pretty far off from most everything. But is worth the time to get there. Even from the base of the...

Has its good days and its bad days

by trojan04 , Feb 18 '01
Pros: STELLA the new six-person chair, high-speed quad, not too busy.
Cons: Often windy and overcast and not good coverage early or late season.
The view from the top of Schweitzer can be one of the most breathtaking views ever seen by man. The problem is, it is not clear often enough to take in that view. Schweitzer is really a good all-around mountain. The new six-person chair they put in...

SO much terrain
by divadkire ,Feb 13 '06
Pros: Moderately Priced mountain with world class terrain
Cons: The back side of the Mountain could use a new lift
Schweitzer Mountain takes a few days to digest, it is just that big. There are so many nooks and crannies to this mountain that you can not possibly ski it all in one trip. The new Idyl Hour T-bar opens up some of the freshest terrain. On clear days the scenery looks like it came from an Ansell Adams Photo.
