Fantastic in Phoenix
by skimor7 ,Aug 08 '09
Pros: Professional, friendly, efficient staff.
Nice, clean car.
No hassle whatsoever!
Cons: Wished the car had a compass and thermometer, but no big deal.
We reserved a full-size car on the Enterprise web site from their operation at the Phoenix Airport. The web site was pretty easy to use and I didn't have any problems with it. The check-in process at the desk was very easy and the guy there was very nice and helpful. When we went to the garage to get the car, they offered us a Nissan Xterra SUV at the same price. It was a very nice car and everything worked. I wished it would have had a compass and thermometer. It would have helped knowing which direction you were travelling and I think it was around 113 degrees that day. They charged me for two days since i was returning the car 3.5 hours past the 24-hour (1 day) limit. I guess all companies do that? The staff was very professional, friendly and efficient. The car was super clean and nice and the cost was reasonable. Picking up the car was easy and the dropoff was a snap. No surprises except that the whole experience was fantastic. In PHX, we won't rent from anyone else.

Enterprise Glasgow Airport Location
by cahote ,Nov 09 '07
Pros: Very pleasant staff at Glasgow Airport location.
Cons: None that I can think of.
Rented a car for 30 days, only place that would allow us to drive from the U.K. into Ireland (for a fee of 50.pounds sterling) This is for a form you keep in the car in case you get stopped by the police and need to show proof that Enterprise has give you permission. We never did get stopped, so don't know if that is true or not. We had a pleasant experience with them and would definitely rent from again. If you have a Visa Gold card - phone your insurer and ask for a letter that states where you are covered(they can email to you)take a copy with you. You can decline their insurance and windscreen/tyre insurance if your insurer says you are covered. Saved us big dollars doing that.

hidden charges
by jasgiet ,Dec 30 '07
Pros: The car was relatively new.
Cons: They have hidden charges they won't tell you upfront.
I booked my car rental thru the internet via CarRental.com. When I arrived in Florida, I paid $335.00 for the 5 days of car rental inclusive of the $59 dollar insurance thru AIG. I was surprised after I returned at the end of my trip that I have to pay $126.00 more because according to them they have to charge $24.00 a day plus taxes for what they called DW (which they explained as sort of an insurance too). Why on earth are they telling it to me now towards the end the rental process and not divulged during the first day? The only explanation they could give me is that their charge on the internet is slightly higher than the actual rental charges. Extra $126.00 is not SLIGHTLY higher to me. I won't ever use ENTERPRISE again ! Neither would I recommend my friends to rent at this car company.

Poor service, bad maintenance
by striider2004 ,Apr 17 '08
Pros: Cheap.
Cons: Cheap cars. Poor Service.
I rented from the Denver airport location last summer. I used a gift certificate to pay for most of the rental. The service rep was more interested in selling insurance than holding on to my gift certificate - I later found that my credit card was billed the full amount and they had lost the certificate. I spent 4-5 hours on the phone with Enterprise representatives. Every time, I was told that the problem would be taken care of, but it was not done even after 2 months. Finally, I disputed the charge on my credit card and my credit card company solved the problem.
Besides, the carpet in the car was extremely dirty - it was clearly not cleaned before the rental.
In contrast, my experience with Hertz (also when I used a gift certificate) was smooth and problem free. Sometimes, it is worth paying a little more.

Helpful, upgrades often, and really helped me!
by vickibarbaria ,Aug 24 '09
Pros: Upgrade often, friendly, helpful, servie is great
Cons: some locations close early
I do A Lot of traveling, and use enterprise when I can.  They are helpful, upgrade often, and have a good staff.  One time I was delayed at the airport, they helped me find a hotel (they were all booked!)  and let me keep the car for the night for a very min. charge, and even helped me to call the airline and re-schedule the flight.  I have had problems w/many of the companies, but they have, for the most part, been great!

Ready and Reliable for Rescue
by mlsnow ,Apr 08 '07
Pros: Came to me when my car was broken.
Cons: None!
I had a minor accident that caused my car to be out of commission for about a week right before Christmas. I was quite upset and just told my insurance company to call whatever rental company they recommended. Enterprise called me on my cell phone and arranged to meet me at the repair shop. They picked me up at the car repair shop with a clean and cute little car. The gentleman who brought the car was very kind and understanding. He explained everything to me as far as the rental agreement was concerned and even took the time to show me all about the car. It ran great and when my car was ready, all I had to do was call and let them know I was dropping it off at the repair shop. The folks at Enterprise could not have been nicer!

Good Car, Bad GPS
by coloradotuff ,Oct 20 '07
Pros: Fast, genuinely courteous service on nice vehicles.
Cons: Watch out for the flukey GPS and untopped gas-tank.
In Nashville, we rented from Enterprise. We got a smashing deal on a sensible but funky-cute Dodge Caliber. Since we were totally unfamiliar with the area, we decided to get the GPS system, too. Service was courteous and just plain nice. We only had to wait two minutes for our car.

Upon receipt, the car tank was not as full as it could have been. Otherwise, it was clean and ready-to-go, so off we went, happily expecting smooth sailing with the little GPS.

Well, first off, the texturized dash in the Caliber doesn't allow the suction cup to work. Then, the darned thing fired up fairly rapidly, but soon became utterly worthless as it would not "rez" properly. For non-geeks, that means it wasn't keeping up with our travel. We ended up having to find our way to and around downtown Nashville by the old-fashioned method of reading the highway signs. To their credit, Enterprise agreed that we should not pay for a non-working gadget, although we had to tell the story in a phone call and then to the check-in guy.

Enterprise Leasing of Platte Woods
by mikeinkc ,Apr 23 '08
Pros: Unlimited mileage.
Cons: Be sure and decline the optional insurance.
Wife wrecked her car. We went to Enterprise because it was closest to the dealership where we took her car. It was late in the day and the place was crowded and we were rushed and hungry. They knew we had an insurance claim for the car, but they MADE sure to stick on $13 a day for Enterprise's insurance which we didn't need. Wife didn't read the fine print which says the insurance was optional before she initialed it. They were downright rude when we complain about the $38/day charge for the Hyundai. This is the LAST TIME we will ever rent from Enterprise.

Enterprise did refund the $220 charge for collision coverage, so I am updating my rating.

I love Enterprise
by lilithb ,Jan 21 '08
Pros: get a trustworthy car when needed
Cons: of course, you are putting out money extra to rent one.
I have rented cars from Enterprise in several areas and for many years. I have always obtained great deals and the staff has been friendly no matter where I was renting from.

I was in an out within 20 min. I got an economy car which got me 170 miles on on half tank of gas.

I just always know when I get a car from Enterprise that I do not have to worry.

Just returned a rental today and got a ride home to boot.

Don't trust them
by nounou ,Jan 09 '08
Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: Untrustful company
I've got a very bad experience with this company. Firstly, check very carefully the car beforehand, at the micro level I mean. When I went to bring back the car, they found a micro scratch in the paint. I have not noticed it and it was there before I took the car because nothing happened during the period I had it. Or it could be just a stone in the road! They wanted me to pay for this, so they took the deposit of 250euros, and now they are saying that it cost 440euros. This is stealing, and completely ridiculous. It's a matter of minutes and it does not cost even the tenth of that. So don't trust them if you are going to rent a car from this company, and if I can give you an advice, use another one.

beware false damage claims
by esblman ,Feb 26 '07
Pros: none
Cons: beware claims about trivial " damage "
I frequently rent from Enterprise at the Miami airport, last 2 times they have made a very hard sell for supplemental insurance. I never buy this as I believe my American Express card & existing auto coverage should suffice. On returning a car Feb 18 they tried to extort money for a tiny paint scratch under front bumper. I beefed and they relented although I had to fill out a " damage " report. I think this is a scam to increase insurance sales.

fully recommended - Embarcadero, Oakland CA
by deniseymc ,Jan 26 '08
Pros: Pick Up and drop off
Cons: Good Service & Attitude
During my auto accident, God sent a ground angel to me. He is Mark Nicola, an assistant manager of Enterprise Rent -A -Car. His professional attitude not just offered a customer having a better deal; he also considered the profit of the company. The dedication of his time and helping was deeply warming a customer heart that was under a physical and financial crisis. The service and personality of the staff of Enterprise Rent -A -Car is friendly, which is located at 25 Embarcadero, Oakland CA 94606. It is no doubt at all, I am fully recommended their service to anyone.
Your company is lucky to have Mark, a dedicated employee and we are lucky to have a heartwarming manager serving us.
Mark, I am greatly appreciated whatever you do. You are marvelous! Your action made a big difference to your customer. Keep it up!

Miami Airport Enterprise Rent-A-Car - Great
by shopwatch ,Nov 27 '07
Pros: Affordable, good service
Cons: Location
In Miami for vacation. Reserved a car on the Enterprise Web site. Not the cheapest but affordable and competitively priced. Location to pick up the car is kind of far from airport and difficult to leave/navigate during busy traffic. Service was great. Fast, polite, offered upgrade options without being pushy.

Don't rent from this company!
by apydazes ,Jul 20 '09
Pros: The Centereach staff were friendly.
Cons: Their company slogan should be "Too bad, too bad for you"!  They don't care.
Centereach, Long Island office.

Booked a Mustang, 5 days in advance-was given a Magnum-30,000 miles with shaking steering wheel, and pulsing breaks whenever you went to stop.  Was scary to drive.

I lost the car key.  Could not get a new key because it was holiday weekend.  Was told the key was $250.00 from the 800 number, and a very rude individual.  Called the local branch on Monday morning, was told the key was $250.00.  They called back-they made a mistake-the key was $350.00.  $350.00 for a car key.  The locksmith called, and gave me a break-he only charged me $335.00 for the key.

Well, the next day I found the key.  I called them to ask for a refund, or partial refund-or anything.  They never called back.  The next day, I got a phone survey call.  I told them about my escapade-and was told that someone would call me to talk about it.  They never did.  It is clear to me-that they just don't care about their customers.  I will never rent from them again.  I suggest you avoid them at all costs.  There are much better, much friendlier car rental places to choose from.

Enterprise Bait and Switch
by oloughli ,Sep 18 '07
Pros: Cheap
Cons: Cheap Not near the airport Constant sales pitch Cannot return on Sunday without undisclosed costs
I made a reservation for a weekend car rental from the La Crosse based Enterprise. From the moment I was picked up to be driven to the office, the Enterprise employee attempted to "up sell" me. From anecdotes about people that should have gotten additional insurance to pushing larger (more expensive vehicles) - it was a 15 minute sales pitch.

Once we arrived at the office (which was no where near being "at the airport" as advertised) the sales pitches continued. After dodging both of the pushy salesmen at the counter I was informed that I could return my car on Sunday even though they were closed... I would just have to take a cab to the airport if I wanted to catch my return flight. That or park the rental at the airport for a $20 (plus parking) fee.

This, to me, is a scam. I chose their company based on price - and I ended up paying nearly $50 extra because they failed to mention their "Sunday return policy".
