Pros: New facility with lots of cardio machines, resistance machines, free weights, classes. Cons: Could be kept cleaner, staff should be friendlier.
This is a new facility and has the advantage of great new machines. There are several resistance machines for each muscle group and lots of cardio machines, too. It gets crowded at the normal times - after work, early Saturday morning. The "wet"...

Pros: Different brands of equipment. Variety of cardiovascular equipment and often the latest and greatest. Cons: Dirty! Problems with the pool/spa area. Not clean and chemicals in the air.
I had several bad experiences with the local 24-Hour club. The weights were quite dirty and they were sticking together when I was using them. I had the pin in one plate and 2 others stuck to the bottom. Then there was the day the light fixture was...

Pros: various locations, nice equipment Cons: way too crowded and pushy sales people
I agree with one reviewer who said that this gym is too crowded. My spouse and I joined 3 years ago and it seems as if the gym near us just gets more and more busy no matter what time of day you go...and it is frustrating because then you can't get...

Pros: open ALL the time Cons: lack of variety of machines; too many opening fees
For those people out there who don't have a lot of time to fit a workout in the middle of the day between work, classes, and errands, 24 Hour Fitness is probably for you. It is open ALL THE TIME. It's great motivation too, because alas, I can no...

Pros: Price Cons: Waiting for equipment
I joined 24 Hour Fitness because it is really close to my house and I got a great deal. I bought a full membership in Sacramento and pay $15 a month. If I had signed up in San Francisco, i would have to pay about $35 a month.
I work out...

Pros: Cheapest gym I know of Cons: Incompetent staff, lack of proper equipment, false advertising
I came out to the Bay area for the summer for an internship in Redwood City and did much research on gyms in the surrounding area, finding that the most cost-effective gym was the 24 Hour Fitness in San Carlos. I signed up through an internet offer...

Pros: Open 24 hours!!!! Cons: ummmm, it's not right next door to my apartment??
About 4 months ago I joined 24 Hour Fitness because it was close to my apartment and I did not enjoy Gold's Gym when I worked out there. I was so impressed the first time I walked in and saw all of the fitness machines that were at my disposal. I knew...

Pros: great for your shape Cons: go at the wrong time, it's busy!
I have been a member for many years. I joined when the club was Family Fitness. Back when the dues were low and the people were more friendly, one couldn't feel at ease. People were not quite as committed to losing the weight or gaining mass as they are...

Pros: Well equipped, open 24 hours. Cons: Bad air flow in free weights room, 7am or 10pm?, some rude members
This is just from my experience but the three 24 hour fitness clubs I’ve been to has had an imbalance with how they distribute their air conditioning air flow. It always seems a lot hotter in the free weights room, especially when it’s hot outside. The...

Pros: They have clubs all over the Bay Area. Cons: When they upgrade their clubs you can't use it anymore.
They changed one of their regular fitness clubs to one of their higher-priced "Sport Club". When they were all done with their renovation the staff wouldn't allow me to use that club anymore. I have paid for an "All Club Membership" since 1998 and ...

Pros: Location availability Cons: Corporate corruption
They have numerous locations in most heavily populated areas of California except for the San Gabriel Valley. However, these are likely the most crowded health club. This is a good place to work out if you know how to work out properly and avoid...

Pros: The rock climbing is probably the only pro I can think of. Cons: --Crowded, Showers poorly maintained, poor security, horrific parking, apathetic management, lockers are always damaged.
It depends on what you are looking for in a gym. I have been with 24 Hrs Super in Pasadena, CA for approximately 1 year. I am terminating my membership for several reasons. Until recently, my main concerns were that the showers were poorly maintained, ...
