Pros: Food isn't all horrible Cons: Food prices, I didn't lose enough weight, counselor got mad at me!
In October 2003 a friend of mine and I decided to try Jenny Craig together. We started walking in the mornings the previous January and had tried several different times to shed the extra weight we were carrying around. My friend (see, I do have one!!) ...
Pros: Pre-packaged foods, counselor support Cons: Expensive, only palatable, made me ill
I struggled with whether or not to recommend Jenny Craig, and in the end I have to say No, although it might work for someone else. I went to Jenny Craig with my husband on Saturday and signed up. We are both obese and the convenience of a pre-packaged...
Pros: Good food which is readily available, great support system. Cons: Somewhat expensive at anywhere from $60-$80 a week.
I have been on the Jenny Craig Plan for a little over 2 months now. My total weight loss planned is 30 pounds and I've just passed my half way point this week. I have lost 16 pounds in 9-10 weeks and am very happy about the whole experience. Before ...
Pros: Some good techniques and tips taught Cons: Expensive and does not work long term for most
I worked at Jenny Craig Weight Management Centres for
3 years. I worked first as a receptionist, then a counselor,
then a workshop instructor, then a program director. I
finally found a 'real' job and left Jenny Craig. I
did enjoy...
Pros: Convinient, easy meals, not bad in taste. Cons: Expensive, expensive, expensive
I joined Jenny Craig one week ago. After reading some of the reviews listed here. I went in knowing exactly what I wanted and what I was in for. I knew you had to pay for the food, I knew it was going to be expensive, I knew I wasn't going to like most ...
Pros: A LOT of support, GOOD FOOD, structure, discipline, POSITIVE RESULTS if you FOLLOW THE PLAN! Cons: Pricey, but just ask to see the price list! They'll give it to you!
*UPDATED MAY 11 TO PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION* Finally, at a staggering 319 lbs, I decided "enough is enough." Having tried Jenny Craig in high school, with financial backing from my parents, I did have success. But, then I went to college, ...
Pros: Accountability, structure, education on what and how to eat Cons: Expensive, counselors are salespeople, continual push to buy products
I joined on the Platinum membership plan in 1997, and over the years have returned a couple of times in order to take off those 10-20 pesky pounds that keep recurring. With our last move to what will probably be our retirement nest, I found I was...
Pros: Good food; one-on-one attention; no gimmicks. Cons: Can be expensive; works only if you're motivated.
By the time I started JC in November 2001, I had tried every diet known to man - cabbage soup, high-protein, low-protein, Weight Watchers, even phentermine. With most, the result was the same - I would lose a lot of weight in the first week, but none...
Pros: Easy, convenient, most of the food taste great, one-on-one support, and teaches you portion control. Cons: Expensive, not a big variety and you have to have their food on hand.
I've been overweight my entire adult life. I've tried most diets, but never considered doing anything too drastic. I knew I would NEVER get a gastric bypass and at my age Weight Watchers wasn't working anymore. The day I got on the scales and realized I ...
Pros: Convenience. Work friendly breakfast and lunch M-F. Cons: Expensive. High pressure.
I decided to join Jenny Craig after two of my family members lost 100 pounds on the Jenny Craig diet. I am in my 3rd week, down 11 pounds and enjoying it very much. However, I don't think I will be rejoining after my 3-month membership. The food ...
Pros: Fast weight-loss Cons: No change in habits; rapid regain; uneducated and inexperienced "counseling" staff; expensive; product- rather than life-style-based
A few years ago, I needed to lose some weight and noticed that a woman at work was shedding pounds pretty fast. I asked her how she was doing it and she said she'd joined Jenny Craig. There was one near me, so I stopped in after work one night to sign...
Pros: losing weight, fabulous counselor, building self-esteem Cons: expensive!!
I really do leave Jenny Craig with a smile. I purchased the Platinum membership in late December 2000 for $175, during a 50% off sale. I don't think I would join at any other time. It is so expensive.
Pros: They have good vitamins Cons: Their food is awful & I regained the weight
I tried this diet program several years ago because it was recommended by a friend.
Overall, it sounded good. You had a counselor to meet with every week, a special program and diet outlined for you, and you never had to cook. Every week you...
Pros: Very fast weight loss.
Cons: "Counseling" from non-professionals, the cost is ridiculous.
Well, where to begin. I first joined Jenny Craig 4 years ago on Valentine's Day. It was to be a present to myself. I weighed 226 pounds at that time and was desperate to lose weight.
I spoke with the director and she sold me on the...
Pros: Contains the key aspects to a successful weight loss program Cons: But you can get these for free elsewhere so why bother...
I have been struggling with my weight for as long as I can remember. It wasn't until I got into college that I really packed on enough pounds to consider myself overweight and then I started looking around desperately for a way to shed the pounds. ...
Pros: helped you lose weight Cons: you don't learn how to keep it off once you've got it off
I tried Jenny Craig back when I was in junior high because I needed to lose weight. I was chubby kid and knew it was time to do something about it. So my mom and I joined Jenny Craig.
I was on Jenny Craig for about 2 years and I did lose...
Pros: ??? Cons: High pressure, high cost, low results
After reading the comments by mbmattson, all of my suspicions about Jenny Craig have been confirmed. I have been on many diets over the years, and of all the diets and programs I tried, none have left me feeling as bitter as Jenny Craig did.
Pros: I Lost Weight - In The Short Term Cons: It Doesn't Work - In The Long Term
My sister and I have struggled with our weight for our whole lives. Like everyone else, we had tried diet program after diet program. I clearly remember the day, a few years ago, when we finally decided to do something about it and go to Jenny Craig....
Pros: nice support Cons: very expensive, lousy food
About a year after giving birth to twin sons I still had some extra weight I was struggling to lose. I felt that maybe I needed some outside help and guidance so I joined Jenny Craig.
First of all it is a lot more expensive than the...
Pros: For a Short Fix or A Few, Few Pounds To Lose Cons: Expensive, weight normally returns when the program ends
You may wonder why I mention Nutri-System when I speak of the Jenny Craig system, and I am ready to explain! Jenny Craig began as an owner of a Nutri-System Franchise. As it was written into the contract that she (or any other franchise owner of...
Pros: Weekly Accountability, Everything is Planned out for You Cons: Very Expensive, Counselors aren't Especially Well Trained
I first joined Jenny Craig about 7 years ago. While still in college I signed up, paid the fees totaling over $250 (while in COLLEGE), shelled out the $$ for some motivational audio tapes starring Jenny herself, and committed myself to weekly meetings...
Pros: Correct portion sizes, well-rounded meal plans, good support with realistic caloric and activity goals Cons: Expensive.
I have been overweight since I was six years old. My family tried getting me to lose weight through fat camps, weight watchers, bribery and other failed plans. On my own, I have tried low carb diets, working with dieticians, soup diets and whole slew ...
Pros: Accountability, learning volumetrics, portion control, onon on one support, choices Cons: Cost of the food is about 3x what you would pay in the grocery store.
I got on the scale and saw the number I feared most...200 pounds. I called Jenny Craig that day because I knew that if I didn't have some accountability and some "retraining" of my relationship with food, the problem would only get worse. When I went ...
I have always seen people from Jenny craig program loose weight. I waited til all others failed and went to Jeny Craig with alot of hope and faith in the program. I stuck to the program and also bought all my required food at the grocer. I stuck to my...
Pros: convenient, healthy and balanced meals, weekly encouragement from your consultant, you see results Cons: can be expensive for someone on a limited income and may also be difficult if you also have to cook meals for your family
I have been trying to get my weight under control, but bad eating habits and no desire to exercise can be a horrible combination. So when my weight sky-rocketed to an all-time high, I had to do something. I tried many different types of diets,...
Pros: No brainer, must do it for it to work Cons: Moderately Expensive foods, young counselors
I started this program two and a half months ago due to the fact that I have recently had my first baby and need to get to a good weight before even thinking of having another child. I was also diabetic during my pregnancy and have a good chance of...
Pros: No-brain weight loss Cons: Can be expensive; you may need to be a little assertive about your needs
Having lost 55 pounds since April, and having failed at most other diets, I am a fan of Jenny Craig. This is slow, steady weight loss -- the kind that most knowledgeable health experts recommend.
Pros: friendly counselors and delicious food Cons: very expensive
I went to Jenny Craig in 1992 and liked the diet plan very much. I did find it expensive, but I also found it very easy to follow and the counselor that I had was very helpful and knowledgeable.
I heard about the program from a friend and went to...
Pros: Good food. The plan absolutely works. And it teaches you for real life. Cons: Costs more than home-cooked. Need a lot of freezer space.
I LOVE Jenny Craig. I've done Jenny twice. The first time, my goal was to lose 15 pounds. And I followed it religiously and did it in about 6 weeks. Then, I figured "my diet is over." And, you got it - it took about a year, and I gained all 15 ...
Pros: Structured meals
one on one consultations Cons: WAY TOO EXPENSIVE
I am on my first week of Jenny Craig, all of the reviews really scared me but I decided to go with the trial membership. So far I have to say that is has been really great. The food is great except for that baked potato! What I found was that the main ...
Pros: It provides structure, and is fits easily into a busy schedule. Cons: It is pricey, and you have to eat differently than other household members.
I am on my second go around with Jenny Craig. I did it about 10 years ago, and I successfully lost about 30lbs. However, I then began taking diet pills and became bulimic because the weight loss was not "quick enough" for me. As a result, I lost a ...
Pros: Good dieting sense, liveable diet plan. Cons: Too expensive.
Jenny Craig has several plans you can choose from. You can sign up for a specific period of time, such as 6 months or a year. Where I live, and when I joined, the 6 months membership was $199 and the 12 months was $299. But they always have specials, ...
Pros: Nutritional, convenient.
Teaches lifestyle.
Return any time.
Half membership fee back after maintaining a year. Cons: Cost prohibitive for many people.
The personal consultants vary in quality.
I lost 40 pounds on JC in 5 1/2 months. I contacted them after I got blood work back from my doctor saying my LDL chloresterol and my tryglycerides were "borderline high". I had already known I was overweight, but my health was the real issue. I was ...
I recommend Jenny Craig to people who like structure and do not have to cook for their family. I went on Jenny Craig last year and ultimately bought 3 months worth of food. I did the plan that you can do over the phone and have food delivered to your ...
Pros: The "Pro" is having not to think about your meals. Cons: Would recommend only if you are really motivated and work out.
I work from home. Some would say it is a blessing and a curse. Its not quite as structured as working away from home with scheduled breaks. My problem was not having the time to make breakfast before my 3 hour conferance call. I also wouldn't have time ...
Pros: A great way to learn portion control. Cons: A little pricey but you can wean yourself off pretty quickly.
There is NO EASY WAY TO KEEP WEIGHT OFF. You have to change your lifestyle that made you overweight in the first place. My counselor at Jenny Craig not only encouraged me each week, she helped recommend ways to "stay on track" even when I was ...
Pros: Teaches you basic dieting technique Cons: Is far too expensive for lacking results
If you have read anything about me you will know that I have dieted many times in my life and this diet is the one I hated the most. Jenny Craig advertises great deals like 20 pounds for 30 days, yet they only tell you in fine print that you HAVE to pay...
Pros: Friendly, knowledgeable staff, decent food, good hours of operation Cons: the food can be more expensive than grocery store food
In June of 2004, after a breakup with a boyfriend and a bad shopping day at the mall where nothing fit, I walked by the Jenny Craig office. I walked by a few times and finally went in where I asked for more information. I started off with a trial ...
Pros: food is good, food variety is good, alternative choices are easy to adapt to lifestyle Cons: food can be expensive, but no more than eating fast food
I am a 43 year old woman, mother of 3. I have always struggled to keep my weight around 130 lbs. I know that to a lot of people, that doesn't seem like a big deal. But for me, unless I am diligent in staying within a particular range, the weight will ...
I started Jenny Craig 3 weeks ago. I lost 11 lbs in my first 2 weeks. The food is great! Their food is frozen though so it will take up some freezer space. Some of my favorites are french toast, oatmeal, their version an egg mcmuffin, turkey burger, ...
Pros: Wonderful concept. Learn a very healthy way of eating and when followed, you DO lose. Cons: Food ridiculously overpriced. Its a business all about money w/a spiel & a rip-off.
I joined Jenny Craig @150 pounds (I'm a 39 year old mother of 18 year old twin boys) so I wasn't morbidly obese but I did have some weight to lose as 135 was target. I went there for the 20 pounds for $20 special and let me just say this to ...
Pros: umm...I can't think of any Cons: horrible food, horribly expensive
This is one sure way to lighten the load - and you'll feel it in your pocket! I thought that after years of trying weight loss programs that worked for a week or so (but never more) I'd be willing to join a proper weight loss center, change my lifestyle...
Pros: program works -- consultants are very motivational Cons: results are short-lived
I joined the Jenny Craig program because I heard of a special that offered 6 weeks of Jenny for $36.00. Things were going well, and I was losing weight, but then the six weeks ended. I thought I could just sign up for another 6 weeks for $36.00, but...
Pros: Excellent tasting foods, a program offering a wide range of foods YOU choose from, one on one approach to weight loss and many more benefits of losing weight with Jenny Craig Cons: Costs about $80 a week for most of the food you'll need to buy, at times I find the counselors not to have all the answers
Please read my success story with Jenny Craig! Don't let others' opinions scare you away from trying an awesome weight loss program!
I'm baffled about ALL the negative comments concerning Jenny Craig here at Epinions.com. I've been on the...
Pros: The program is structured and easy to follow. Cons: Not everyone is ready to really commit to changing their life.
I went on the Jenny Craig program in 2001, and lost 55 pounds. I have kept it off since then, using the principles I learned on the program. I also found that, while the food isn't cheap, it is really good. It is much higher quality than Lean Cuisine ...
Pros: Easy, good food, behavior modification, portion control education, supportive staff. Cons: A bit expensive... But, are you worth it? YES, YES, YES
I had tried literally EVERY diet on the market, along with eating as a raw food vegan for over a year and nothing worked for me. I was desperate when I went to Jenny Craig and not at all optimisitc that it would work for me. In fact, my sister begged me ...
I see all these reviews about how expensive JC is. Everyone complains that the food costs $80+ a week. I used to eat take-out for every lunch and some breakfasts and alot of dinners, so my food bills were around $70 a week minimum anyway.
I...
Pros: Controlled, easy, prepackaged, good information, helpful staff! My consultant is wonderful! Cons: Some meals so-so, can be expensive, use coupons and buy only some of the food.
This program works... you just have to follow it. Any program works... you just have to follow it. Years ago I lost 37 lbs. in a behavior modification program at Methodist Hospital in Houston. I kept the weight off for years. Lately I've gained it back. ...
Pros: program extremely effective, food is delicious and the portions are the right amount. Cons: high employee turnover
Although I hate the company and think they are the worst to work for, I highly recommend the program. I worked there for 3 years and saw many successful clients. If you follow the menu, you will lose the weight. I lost 60lbs myself and have kept it off. ...
Jenny Craig says lose 20 LBS for $20. A teen friend desperate to lose weight, decided to go. She was told that ad did not apply to teens and the program would cost $120 plus the food costs. which are also very high. There ad never says that teens...
Pros: Premade food, Weekly sessions, little/no planning req'd Cons: The food can be expensive
I had been dieting for about 3 months and was able to lose 15 lbs on my own. Though the process was slow, the weight was coming off. However I was frustrated that all my hard work was only taking off 1/2 lb a week. I have 2 small children and loved ...
Pros: Lost 7 lbs. in 3 weeks Cons: 8oz. frozen and nonfrozen TV dinner $5. My opinion, meals were bland and average quality.
Let me start by saying that the Jenny Craig program was not helpful, enlightening nor was any new diet approach taught, stated or implied. The program is based on low calorie consumption spread out over 3 meals and 2 snacks a day, The program is designed ...
Pros: Can't think of any. Eating in a way that's right for you is best. Cons: Keeps you hungry & is too expensive.
I'm the queen of fad diets and I've tried them all, Deal-a-Meal, Atkins, Slim Fast, The Zone, South Beach, Suzanne Somers, and now Jenny Craig. I should have learned my lesson by now, but I'm always suckered into these diets by fancy marketing, lofty ...
Pros: Portion-controlled. Great if you don't expect much flavor or hate to cook. Cons: Food you could buy at the supermarket for less. Consultants are marginal at best.
I joined this program after hearing about how great the food was and how effective it is. Sorry to say that I did not get much of a chance to prove or disapprove. I live in a rural area about 2 hours from the closest Centre. I tried Jenny Direct ...
Pros: Not sure of any Cons: extremely pushy counselors, expensive program
Well, I will start by saying I AM NOT OVER WEIGHT! I weigh 130lbs; I am 5ft 2" and solid muscle. I run 3 miles 3days a week and walk a mile the rest. I have a medium build. So now you have an idea of my figure. I wanted to weigh less and learn how to ...
Pros: Excellent support system, and maintenance program is great. Food much better than expected. Yummy! Cons: None so far!
Jenny Craig's Platinum member ship is wonderful! I started out 70 lbs. overweight about 2 months ago. I was wearing a size 18 pant size, and now I am down to a 14. At first I was hesitant because of the price, but with everything included in this...
Pros: The macaroni and cheese? A few of the frozen meals were ok..... Cons: Too many to list. Awful food, uneducated consultants, commission based sales people.
I enrolled in JC in January 08, very motivated and ready to do anything to lose 30 lbs. My consultant offered me two programs: 6 month plan or 12 month plan. I knew that I couldn't afford the 12 month plan, so opted for the 6 month. For $250, plus ...
Pros: It works if you follow it Cons: The focus of JC is on money, not the client.
I am a Jenny Craig Platinum member and have been so for over 20 years. Jenny's program works if you follow it. But with that said, ANY program that reduces intake calories lower than what you expend will give you the same results. I read a review that ...
Pros: The food actually tastes delicious. Convinient and easy. Cons: Way too expensive!
I was very enthusiastic to begin on the Jenny diet. I walked into the center and the whole staff was very nice and bubbly. I filled out some questionaire and my weight loss consultant greeted me with a smile. We went into her office and she informed ...
Pros: Can teach about portion control Cons: EXPENSIVE, poorly trained counselors, high pressure sales, frozen food gets boring
I joined Jenny Craig with high hopes. The food was decent, and I felt like I could stick with it because of that. I also initially liked the idea of having a counselor and some accountability. WRONG! The food, while palatable at first, began to be ...
Pros: Good selection of tasty food. Cons: Way too much money! Extremely expensive and not healthy!
Well, I was hoping for wonderful things from Jenny Craig. After just having a baby, I had more than a few pounds to lose and Jenny Craig looked very appealing. If Kirstie Alley could do it?!?!? I went in to the center and got pressured to get the ...
Pros: I lost weight Cons: It came back, with friends!
I had never tried a formal diet before, and I thought that having pre-made meals would make it very easy for me to lose weight. Well, it did. I lost 33 pounds in 3 months and I was thrilled. It was hard to pay for the food, but I kept telling myself that...
Pros: good tasting food (mostly), high energy, Cons: very expensive, hard to cheat on this program
Jenny Craig seems to be very highly advertised through the media in North America. I have tried this program three times, over a four year period. I personally feel that this program will work if you first have a lot of money to spend on such a program...
Pros: Give you structure, weekly weigh ins Cons: Very Expensive, nothing extraordinary
I recently joined Jenny Craig's platinum membership, which you pay almost 180 dollars as a starting fee plus your weekly food bills. The only advantage of this membership is that you never ever have to pay again even if you suddenly after years of not...
I joined Jenny Craig two years ago. I need the structure of a set diet, the accountability of weekly weigh-ins and the education to maintain my new weight. Jenny Craig provided all of that. The program follows the food guide pyramid so you are assured...
Pros: Hunger pangs are non-existent and the food is delicious Cons: You need to be able to afford this program.
I am bewildered by all of the negative comments as well. I just started JC and yes it is expensive! But so are larger clothes, food binges that I go on when I get depressed about clothes being tighter, eating out, etc. God blessed me to pursue my...
Pros: Don't have to think about food, Convenient, Teaches you to eat thru-out day. Cons: Expensive, Consultants goal is money, Stuck on JC to lose, New customer first, Family food?
I've been a JC member for over a year. I had about 30 lbs to lose. In the first 6 months, I was one lb away from goal but what happened in the next 6 months was a tell tale sign of this Jenny Craig's huge faults, I gained almost all the weight ...
Pros: I did lose weight (temporarily) Cons: I gained double 10 months off the plan!
You will lose weight while on this diet, but as soon as you get off it you won't believe how fast you regain it all and lots more! The food isn't so bad but there isn't much of a selection so if you need to lose a lot of weight you will get sick of these foods pretty fast. The foods cost about $100.00 a week! Anyway, the first time I went on this diet I lost 40 pounds in 4 months, got off the diet and put on 80 in ten months! A few year later I figured maybe I would try again and this time be more careful when I got off. Well lost 25, now 6 months later the 25 is back on! I think I'm going to give Weight Watchers a try!
Pros: Strict diet and supportive associates. Cons: Food did not taste very good and I was hungry all of the time.
Personally I did not care for the Jenny Craig diet. I found it to be expensive for what I got out of it. Yes, I lost a few pounds, but the food was horrible and I was starving all of the time. Likewise, it was difficult to stick to the diet when I traveled as it was not as flexible as others. I think that this program is great for the support that the associates give to dieters, so this diet may work for some. However, I needed a more flexible diet.
Pros: It is easy. It also moves you into maintenance ultimately promoting a life style change. Cons: Probably the cost, but I was buying unhealthy groceries; it's was more than worth it.
I have spent my life on diets. I have done them all. I, in fact, was put on my first diet at 7. It wasn't a good experience. About 10 years ago I gave up and said I wasn't going to diet again. And I meant it.
Well last year I was up to 295lbs and my body, which has been very good to me, was starting to complain. So I tried Jenny Craig. I hadn't tried that program before and had heard good things.
Well, in 9 months I have lost 92lbs. I found the program made it very simple for me, no thinking involved. As an overeater I needed something that just told me what to do. It also follows the food pyramid so all foods are incorporated.
I also started exercising with my counselors encouragement which I never did before...never.
I love my counselor, appreciate the program.
There is no one and only way though, it all comes down to less calories and exercise and with those two things we will all become healthier.
Ive tried Jenny Craig for 2 weeks.. and is good by jezszy ,Oct 18 '04
Pros: Good Food. Im not tired of the food yet. Cons: Expensive, have to convince the counselor not to use the planned week meal.
I{ve been only 2 weeks and I´ve seen results, I already lost 10 pounds. Food is Good. I have to lost 40, but I got the 20 per 20 offer.. just to loose this first 20. Ill let you now how it was.
Pros: Convenient, healthy, and tasty food. Very easy to follow... Cons: The platinum membership is expensive but what price can you put on your health??
I started Jenny Craig (the 20 lbs for $20 or 10 weeks) on 7/7/06 and ended on 9/13/06. I lost 21 lbs during those 10 weeks and have 10 more lbs to go to get to goal. I was very happy with most of the food, other than a few items that just were not for me. I was very pleased with my consultant as well. I prefer the one on one consultation to Weight Watchers group meetings. I also really enjoyed not having to "think" about what I was eating in the beginning. Once you get used to the diet, they begin to show you how to do meals on your own, which was the best advice I've ever gotten. I have never been able to stick to a diet or take life-long habits away from a diet, which I have done with Jenny Craig. When I go out to eat now, I consistently choose healthy meals and have changed my whole outlook on why/how I eat. I still have lots to learn but this diet has changed my life.
Pros: Good food....
teaches portion control. Cons: some of the food is pricey....but you don't have to buy it.
I have been on the Jenny Craig weight loss program since 1/07....I love it, I have lost 42lbs so far. it is easy to follow the program, I choose my own menus, and I buy Jenny's food for 4 out of the 7 days for a week...the other 3 days I plan my own menu and use regular food(they teach you how to plan your own meals)....You can do this...I am on a budget, and cannot afford a weeks worth of meals, if you ask to see the price list(its not a big secret) they will give you one, and then you can choose your foods....I am a "Jenny Rewards" member, it cost me 319.00 for 1 year plus the cost of food...but I now recieve a 30% discount on all food purchased....My consultant is great, she lost 50lbs with Jenny, and has kept it off for more than 10 years.....The program works, and I find it no more costly than any of the other weight loss programs out there....and believe me I have tried them all......
Pros: Just pop in the microwave, dietary education, support system, web site to create menus. Cons: Costs about $100 per week for food.
I have joined Jenny Craig and in 7 weeks I have lost 10 of the 100lb goal I have set for myself. I am also surprised at all of the negative reviews since any weight loss program is not a 'magic' solution. They will all take will power and a change in the way you think about food and how you eat it. I like Jenny because the food is convenient, balanced and with a wide selection you will find food you like. If you like a lot of sweets or a lot of salt (both dietary no-nos) the food will not taste very good at first, but once you get use to not having all that extra sugar and salt the food is fine. As far as expense it is no more expensive then if you are eating your lunches and some dinners out. In fact I am saving money while eating a healthier selection. Yes I will have to stick to smaller portions and Yes I will have to keep from eating too much salt and starches (my downfall), but I have learned and will continue to eat a balanced well pre-portioned meal.
Pros: Easy, no planning, good weight loss Cons: Way Too Expensive, Counselors Inexperience (sales person), High pressure to buy more Jenny Craig products
I'm on week 6 of Jenny Craig and have lost 17 pounds. I don't mind the food and it's very convenient, but I feel too much emphasis is put onto promoting their products and not enough teaching me how to make my own healthy food. I want my entire family to benefit from a healthy diet and I don't know anyone who can afford JC food for their entire family. Honestly I only use about half of their food and prepare the rest with low fat cook books. I've lost the weight 2 times before on my own and was hoping for some help maintaining my weight, but the counselor knows less than I do. I really don't think she's even read the books. I wish I could get my money back.
Perfect diet for single business woman by hedwards1234 ,Mar 07 '07
Pros: delicious and easy Cons: expensive but worth it.
I don't know about you but my day can be so hectic that I would often come home and eat junk just so I could go relax. As a result I gained weight. I joined Jenny Craig and have lost 70 pounds in the last year. What a relief. I've looked back on this past year an analyzed what made me so successful and it was that I was able to eat better quickly. It was measured portions, which I really needed, it was filling and delicious.I only needed to make a vegetable and voila, dinner. I had a dessert as well. I started walking too which really allowed the weight to fall off. I could never have done any of this without Jenny Craig's great food! It's better than what you would buy in the grocery store with other diet food brands. Another thing was meeting with my consultant which really kept me on board when I felt like wavering. I'm very grateful for this diet.
Jenny is the Best Weight Loss Program by mjgh77 ,Sep 04 '07
Pros: Steady weight loss while on the plan. Private consultations. Awesome tasting food and snacks. Cons: Cost of program and food.
I have been on the Jenny Craig Plan for a year now. I have lost 53 lbs to date. I am now on maintainance. I know I couldn't have done it without this program. The food is awesome & the weekly private consultations have helped me succeed on this plan. I have been off the food for 3 months now since I made goal. I still see my consultant every 2 weeks who checks my weight & continues to give me the encouragement that I need to keep the weight off. The price at first is a little pricey, but well worth every penny spent. Also, the program allows for discounts on food which really helps.
They Tried to get me back... by leoandoreosmom ,Aug 02 '07
Pros: Loved the French Toast Cons: Expensive, too far to drive, inept counselor, bait and switch tactics.
I joined Jenny Craig last July (2006). Three months later I was having to take out money from savings to pay bills because the food was so darned expensive. I only lost five pounds. My counselor was only fair. I felt sorry for her because she was an older lady (probably supplementing social security). She made multiple mistakes with my order/pricing. I joined what I thought was a "life-time" membership. I got a call today asking if I wanted to come back for 39 dollars. The lifetime membership was actually only good for one year. I said, no thanks
Pros: Decent food, convenient Cons: VERY expensive, NO guarantee
If paying big bucks for convenience is up your alley, then Jenny Craig is the deal-of-a-lifetime. I became a "Premium" member and was ready to throw in the towel in less than 3 weeks because it was obvious that I wasn't going to want (or need) all of the food that I HAD to buy. But because I didn't call within 3 days of joining (I didn't even get my food within 3 days), I received NO refund ... that's right, I'm out $400!!! The food is decent - MUCH better than Nutrisystem. But the amount of money that it costs (around $500 per month for ONE person) is ridiculous. It's surprising to me that in this current economy, they wouldn't be a little more aware of their costs, but it doesn't appear that their hurting. Oh, didn't lose any weight either!
HONESTLY I am on the fence with this program. by rolfsmythen ,Jan 31 '05
Pros: Contrary to what many say I actually like the food. Support is Ok too. Cons: EXTREMELY expensive, counselors not really dieticians.
I lost a significant amount of weight on this program. Would I recommend it, that's debatable. I honestly think that this program is a good way to maybe get started or start pushing you to control your portions but it can be outrageously expensive.
I Can't Lose Weight Any Other Way Besides Jenny Craig - Thanks Jenny by happy4life ,Jul 23 '08
Pros: This is the only way I can lose weight. Cons: I wish Jenny could have drinks to buy besides mixes.
The only time I have lost weight is on Jenny Craig. I actually get addicted to the foods so that when I break my diet and I have a hard time getting back used to heavy, creamy, fatty foods.
I am back on Jenny after trying and failing at a number of other diets. I thought I could just buy Lean Cuisines from the grocery store and do my own thing like Jenny Craig - but the high sodium in the diet dinners prevented me from losing weight.
Jenny dinners are good and low sodium compared to the Lean Cuisines. I also like the chocolate cake.
Today is just my first day back on Jenny Craig but I can stick with it more so than any other diet and I DO lose weight the fastest on this plan.
Pros: pre - packeged meals, portion control meals, motivation, support, taste of food, friendship Cons: facing my own non-productive eating habits. Thank GOD my counselor, Elizabeth, was kind and understanding!
I had thought about various diet programs following my daughter's birth. Weight gained from being a working mom with no time had added up to 40 - 50lbs. My sister, 4 years older with a high stress job, suggested Jenny Craig. I felt more like an observer in the initial consultation, but the Jenny Craig consultant gave a lot of information that I could apply to myself. I had reservations because friends of mine had gone to weight loss programs few results. I was surprised however, because I had been an athlete in college and the Jenny Craig consultant actually talked about activity and burning calories. She also outlined why we had to re-learn portion control, no one else had ever addressed that REALLY important part of the whole weight loss issue. I have been happy with the program so far. It's been 6 months and 21 lbs. Please chat...
I't works if you stick to the program by pena8536 ,Jul 10 '08
Pros: it works. ........ Cons: ** the food is expensive **
I love Jenny Craig the first week i lost 5 pounds. I was really hungry because the portions are so small but eventually your body get's used to it. I spend around $400 a week for their food but it's worth it. Before the program I used to spend around $20.00 a day in fast food etc.
Not as expensive as you might think! by talkwithjenny ,May 12 '09
Pros: Great food, menu flexibility, support system, teaches you portion control Cons: Not for people with food allergies.
The Jenny Craig program is a great way to learn correct portion sizes while stile enjoying great tasting food. Whether you have 20 or 200 pounds to lose, Jenny Craig works if you follow the plan. Many people think Jenny Craig is too expensive for them. After figuring in your regular grocery budget, don't forget to add in the money you spend on going out to eat, or to Starbucks. Here's a link to a forum thread where Jenny Craig members talk about how much they spend per month on food:
