Personnel: Nathan Williams (vocals, accordion); James Benoit (guitar); Allen "Cat Roy" Broussard (alto saxophone, background vocals); Bobby Mathews (bass); Johnny Batiste (drums); Mark Williams (rubboard, background vocals). It's a difficult task to remain true to the roots of a style as tradition-bound as Zydeco and still take the music down new roads. Somehow, Nathan Williams manages to walk that thin wire on FOLLOW ME CHICKEN. His mastery of the accordion is unparalleled, rivaling that of Clifton Chenier himself. His skill as a songwriter in a genre that often leans on a standard repertoire is equally impressive. He's capable of writing tunes such as "Tout Partout Mon Passe" that sound like they've been handed down through several New Orleans generations, but he's also comfortable incorporating pop and R&B influences.
