Details: The refuge is an important resting and feeding area for birds during the spring and fall migrations. More than 280 species of birds have been seen in the area of the refuge, with over 85 known to nest. The marsh is one of the few places in Pennsylvania where the red-bellied turtle and southern leopard frog can be found.The refuge provides consulting services to teachers planning field trips, introductions and equipment for field trip groups, and a curriculum library and educator workshops for area schools and colleges.
