I haven't seen that movie--sounds like one I would like, if it's about the nostalgia of the old roads!
Hugs!

great poem (Reply to this comment)

AJ,
This was a great poem--and so true. It brought to mind the Summer 2006 movie "Cars."

Hi, Don!!!
Just looked in the comment section and found out that I'd been giving you the silent treatment--at least here! Sorry 'bout that!
Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for dropping by and glad you enjoyed the poem.
Tomorrow, I'm leaving for such a road-trip. Originally, was to leave sooner but too much to do here first. Still wondering how I'll get it all done.
Oh well! It will be good to get away for awhile!
Hugs!

AJ,
I really, really like that poem! Kudos!
On our other subject: "Top 10 Stalking Songs" --- how about "Run For Your Life" by The Beatles and "Every Breath You Take" by The Police? Anyway, your reading public (at least me, anyway) awaits your next article.
Hope your doing okay.
Don :)

Re: Another excellent poem! (Reply to this comment)

I think I might already be a member. I'm not sure. The registration process seemed to be interrupted, so I might have to re-register.
Before joining (or, at least, participating), I would want to look the site over a little and get the climate of it, as I've heard mixed reviews of it. Also, I'll have to see if it would be in violation of TOS at either this site or there to have the poem at both places.
Of course, even before the poem was printed here, it was already printed in my anthology--and, possibly, a few other places. So there shouldn't be a problem.
Still, I get in enough trouble the way it is, so I need to study the TOS both here and there.
Anyway, thanks, again, for the compliment! :o)

You should REALLY join themestream with your talent. It's a real showcase for writers and poets such as yourself. You could make quite a bit of money there with poems like this.

There's actually a book out about those little signs by the side of the road. Ask at your local library and see if they have it.

ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh! I LOVE your review! It's also a work of sheer poetry! My head is now actually too big for my body--and it takes a lot of swelling for THAT to happen!

WOW! No Talent Shortage Here!!! (Reply to this comment)

I feel as though this profoundly moving elegy on lost Americana gives me a glimpse of that poetic imagery which might have resulted if Bob Dylan and Rupert Brooke were fused together at the corpus collosum, while possessed by the ghost of the Robert Frost! (Hey don't laugh! That kind of thing happens all the time nowadays; which is, perhaps, ONE of many reasons for the anti-progressive sentiments advanced in this fabulous poem... .)
I must say AinsleyJo, your work is sheer poetry!
(That tacky, last line, unfortunately, was not...)

You're more than welcome! This is one of my favorites of the poems I've written. My VERY favorite of my poems is probably HE FELT THE NAILS--either that or HANDS OF COMMUNION. You can read the first one by going to my profile and clicking on the link to my webpage in the International Poetry hall of Fame. I have four websites there to click on, and three of them are my webpages. They have links in them that will take you other places.

WOW! Thanks again! My e-mail addy is in plain sight and easy to access. I'll have to see what yours is, too, because we have a lot to talk about. For some reason, I've been having trouble getting to someone e-mail address from here. But I do just fine when I get e-mail at my place and keep the person's address handy. Will be glad to steer you in some great directions with your poetry.

This is the second poem of yours that I have read. I love, love, love your poetry. I wish mine was that good :o) You have a wonderful way with your words to paint a picture. I can visualize everything that you talk about in the poem. Thank you for sharing another one of your great works.

Believe it or not, they do! I should know, because I'm always taking off and exploring them. When I travel these days, I try to do as much of my traveling as I can on those slower, more scenic routes and am always coming across serendipity. You also feel more rested when you arrive at your destination, because you've been surrounded while getting there by wildflowers, people fishing off of bridges, children playing, baby animals, etc. On a recent trip, I saw one bluebird. Many times, I see even more bluebirds than that. And you often discover little towns where you think no little towns can be--like out in the middle of nowhere. Many of these towns have great little restaurants, old-time groceries, unusual-looking buildings, etc. When I begin writing my travel pieces, I'll be writing about some of the one-of-a-kind places still around.
