Consolidators - for CHEAPEST AIRFARES
Sep 10 '99 (Updated May 14 '00)
The best place to look for the CHEAPEST AIRFARE from anywhere to anywhere.
After trying all the standard services - and finding that pricing does not differ much from advertisements in newspapers, I found the following website for Consolidators.
http://www.etn.nl/bucketshops/
1. When you go to this website, scroll down to the bottom of the page, and look for the bright yellow menu box (containing Flights, Cruises options etc), select the 'FREE Quotes' option.
2. Now select the best option, Domestic Flights or International Flights.
3. Now follow the prompts, you will reach a page to complete with your details and the details for the flight. Complete the form and submit the Airfare Request, make sure to provide your e-mail address.
4. NOW - within 48 hours you will receive 5 e-mail responses - directly from the most suitable Consolidators. They will give you pricing and availability. You can then choose the best one, contact them and book your flight!
About Consolidators:
Consolidators buy blocks of tickets in advance, directly from the airlines - they buy these tickets very cheaply, based upon the airlines historical data regarding flights. Basically airlines want every flight to be full, they calculate from historical data the amount of tickets to release to Consolidators. The Consolidator sells the tickets at a much reduced price.
Savings:
I have found prices 50% lower than any of the standard website Travel Services using this website.
An example - for flights from California to Santiago in Chile was priced at $1,100+ from all the standard websites. When I contacted these Consolidators I received pricing between $600 and $800
Note (added May 14th, 2000):
I rarely - if ever - add to or change my epinions.
Many people have raised obvious concerns about Consolidators. The safest way to use the services of a Consolidator is:
a. Give yourself enough time - if the transaction is unsuccessful, you can still buy the ticket in a more traditional way.
b. Always use a major credit card for the purchase of tickets (I only use American Express for these types of transactions).
c. Realistically - this review is more intended for the regular traveller, the type of person who is both aware of the risks, but welcoming of the opportunity to save some serious cash.
d. Please read all the comments posted about this review, and please post comments about your experiences using Consolidators, I will read them and make any changes that are necessary.
